Methods: Rabbits were heavily beaten at gastrocnemius muscle to make acute contusion model and then treated respectively by early Tuina and routine Tuina. The number of satellite cells of skeletal muscles was observed. Results: The number of the satellite cells continued to grow in both groups, and it began to increase significantly 3-5 days after Tuina treatment. Early Tuina treatment produces larger number of satellite cells than routine Tuina treatment. Conclusion: Early Tuina treatment is helpful to the marked recovery of skeletal muscles by increasing the number of satellite cell.展开更多

In the presence of kidney deficiency, Shenshu(BL 23) and Mingmen(GV 4) were added; in the presence of liver-gallbladder fire preponderance, Taichong(LR 3) and Qiuxu(GB 40) were added; in the presence of exogenous wind heat, Waiguan(TE 5) and Hegu(LI 4) were added. After 6-course treatments, 6 cases were cured, 22 cases improved and 2 cases failed, with the total effective rate of 93.9%.展开更多

Methods: 66 patients were randomly divided into two groups: one is the scalp-point therapeutic group, the other is the western medicine group. The two groups were all treated by dehydration, etc. In addition, there are 20 normal people to be set as the healthy group. To select the nervous functional deficit mark, activity of daily living (ADL) form, the amount S-100B protein as indexes and analysis the results. Results: the recordings indicate the patients' Serum S-100B protein are related with nervous functional deficiency mark. After 28 days, the recovery of patients' nervous function of scalp acupuncture group was obviously superior to that of control group (P〈0.05). Conclusions: The results suggested that the patients' Serum S-100B had positive correlation with nervous functional deficit; The penetrating of scalp-point had the better regulatory effect on the level of Serum S-100B, and could improve the nervous functional deficit and ADL, so as to improve the coordination and compensation function and the general nervous function between cortical functional areas展开更多

He inherits Chinese medicine practice from his ancestors and has engaged himself in Chinese medicine for more than seventy years. He has been studying Chinese medical classics and made some innovations and created some unique acupuncture techniques of his own. I am fortunate to be following professor ZHENG Kui-shan and have learned a lot from him. Now I organize professor ZHENG's acupuncture techniques and present them as follows.展开更多

Since 1990s, Chinese acupuncture workers began to absorb and use the methods and principles of EBM to guide acupuncture clinical research and practice. Now more and more domestic acupuncture clinicians use and follow the methods and principles of EBM. On the systemic review of acupuncture-associated articles in Cochrane library, previously effective acupuncture therapy lacks adequate evidences, which may be related to the low quality of randomized controlled trials(RCTs). In the future, only developing specialized team of acupuncture clinical research and clinical research center can radically elevate the levels of acupuncture clinical research and evaluation. Meanwhile, developing China's evidence-based acupuncture should base itself on the characteristics of acupuncture, such as emphasis on original research in ancient books, high-quality single RCTs and systemic review of non-randomized researches.展开更多

Methods: Healthy young male volunteers were selected as subjects of the trial. The upper cervical spine (C2-5) was stimulated bilaterally with spinal manipulation, and changes in heart rate and heart rate variability were calculated as measures of effects on autonomic nervous system tone. Results: Thirty healthy young male volunteers were tested. It was found that heart rate decreased (R-R interval prolonged) significantly. SDNN and total power spectrum increased significantly, indicating an increase in sympathetic tone. Conclusion: Cervical manipulation can regulate the autonomic nervous system tone in healthy young men, and it suggests a possibility of treating cardiovascular diseases such as arrhythmia with cervical manipulation.展开更多

He made a further study of experimental medicine in Kitasato University, Japan between 1987 and 1988. He was engaged in aging research in mouse in Kyoto University, Japan between 1988-1989, and in practicing traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) in Mutian and other Hospitals from 1991 to 1994. In 1997, he won an excellent returned students award from Ministry of Health and was awarded special allowance by State Council. As a research fellow, he won an award of national scientific and technical progress and seven awards of local scientific and technical progress. He published more than twenty articles at home and abroad, including five SCI papers; and wrote four monographs, one of which, Acupuncture Techniques (in Japanese) has been considered as a guidance book for acupuncture practice in the acupuncture circle in Japan.展开更多

Methods: Double antibody enzyme-linked immunoadsorbent assay was used. Results and Conclusion: Scalp point-to-point acupuncture has a significant reducing effect on abnormally elevated serum sICAM1 in patients with acute cerebral infarction. Its curative effect is superior to that of simple Western medicine. There is a significant difference between them (P〈 0,05).展开更多

Results. The total effective rate was 92% in treatment group, obviously higher than 80% in control group; electromyogram examination showed decreased spontaneous potential. Conclusion: Electroacupuncture plus cervical traction is an effective therapy for cervical disc extrusion and electromyogram can help clinical practice.展开更多
