Methods: 30 chronic hepatitis B patients and 30 posthepatitic cirrhosis patients were assessed with the Medical Coping Method Questionnaires (MCMQ), EPQ and SCL-90. Results: There were significant differences between the two groups in psychosomatic symptoms and coping styles, while no reliable difference was found in personality features. Posthepatitic cirrhosis patients reported more psychosomatic symptoms than hepatitis B patients. Negative coping styles, such as resignation, was found to produce significant effect. Conclusion: Negative coping style exerts significant effect in the illness progression from chronic hepatitis B to hepatocirrhosis. Therefore, psychological support should be provided for chronic hepatitis B patients and posthepatitic cirrhosis patients.展开更多
