The fabrication of high strength Al 7068?5%TiC (mass fraction) nanocomposite was studied by mechanical alloying and hot pressing routes. Considering densification importance and grain growth effects, hot pressing process conditions for producing bulk nanocomposite were optimized using statistical Taguchi method based on compressive strength achievement. The Taguchi results indicate that 30 min hot pressing under pressure of 500 MPa at 385 °C provides high compressive strength and hardness of 938 MPa and HV 265, respectively. More interestingly, analysis of variance proves that the applied pressure is the most influential factor for hot pressing of the nanocomposite. The contribution percentages of factors in hot pressing terms are as follows: applied pressure (61.3%), exposed temperature (29.53%) and dwelling hot pressing time (4.49%). 展开更多

A molecular dynamics study to investigate the cavity control of Prefoldin based bio nano actuator is presented in this paper. Prefoldin is a molecular chaperone with a jellyfish-like structure containing six long coiled-coil tentacles and a large central cavity. We took the temperature and p H of the medium into account, and analyzed the conformational flexibility of the Prefoldin nano actuator in details. Results show that the prefoldin is a very flexible protein, the conformational state of which appears to depend on the temperature and p H values of the medium. In fact, combining these two control parameters, a suitable environment is provided to capture nano cargoes with specific dimensions. These properties of Prefoldin actuator can be used for drug delivery in the body. 展开更多

The CFNPs were subsequently coated with carbon shells by means of thermal chemical vapor deposition(TCVD). In this process, acetylene gas(C2H2) was used as a carbon source and the coating was carried out for 1, 2, or 3 h at 750℃. The Ar/C2H2 ratio was 10:1. Heating during the TCVD process resulted in a NP core size that approached 30 nm; the thickness of the shell was less than 10 nm. The composition, structure, and morphology of the fabricated composites were characterized using X-ray diffraction, simultaneous thermal analysis, transmission electron microscopy, high-resolution transmission electron microscopy, and selected-area diffraction. A vibrating sample magnetometer was used to survey the samples' magnetic properties. The deposited carbon shell substantially affected the growth and magnetic properties of the CFNPs. Micro-Raman spectroscopy was used to study the carbon coating and revealed that the deposited carbon comprised graphite, multiwalled carbon nanotubes, and diamond-like carbon. With an increase in coating time, the intensity ratio between the amorphous and ordered peaks in the Raman spectra decreased, which indicated an increase in crystallite size. 展开更多

This research provides experimental evidence for localized shear, billet cracking, and segmentation during the processing of various copper alloys. The results demonstrate that although many parameters affect the shear localization, there is a direct relation between segmentation and alloy strength (hardness) that is related to the alloying elements and constitutive phases. For instance, alpha brass is successfully processed by ECAP at room temperature, but alpha/beta brasses fail even at a temperature of 350 °C. Finite element simulation of cracking and segmentation was performed using DEFORMTM to investigate the influence of different parameters on segmentation. The results confirm that friction and processing speed have narrow effects on attaining a perfect billet. However, employing back pressure could be reliably used to diminish shear localization, billet cracking, segmentation, and damage. Moreover, diminishing the flow localization using back pressure leads to uniform material flow and the billet homogeneity increases by 36.1%, when back pressure increases from 0 to 600 MPa. 展开更多

Preparation of iron oxide (α-Fe2O3) nanoparticles was carried out via a sonochemical process. The process parameters sucb as temperature, sonication time and power of ultrasonication play important roles in the size and morphology of the final products. The iron oxide nanoparticles were characterized by trans- mission electron microscopy, X-ray powder diffraction, and thermogravimetric and differential thermal analyses. From transmission electron microscopy observations, the size of the iron oxide nanoparticles is estimated to be significantly smaller than 19 nm. X-ray diffraction data of the powder after annealing provide direct evidence that the iron oxide was formed during the sonochemical process. 展开更多
