Although nestedness of faunal assemblages has been investigated in natural wetlands, it remains largely unknown whether and why waterbird communities in artificial wetlands follow n ested patter ns. We exami ned the existence of n ested ness and un derlyi ng drivers in waterbird comm un ities in subside nee wetlands that are recently created by large-scale un derground coal mining in the North China Plain. Twelve point-count surveys for waterbirds were undertaken approximately every 2 weeks in 55 subside nee wetla nds from September 2016 to April 2017. We used the metric WNODF to estimate nestedness of the assemblages. Partial Spearman rank correlations were performed to examine the association between the nestedness and habitat variables (wetland area, landscape connectivity, wetland age, and habitat diversity) as well as life-history traits (body size, clutch size, dispersal ratio, geographical range size, and migrant status) related to species exti notion risk and colon izati on rate. Waterbird assemblages in the subside nee wetla nds were significantly nested. After controlling for other independent variables, the magnitude of nestedness was significantly and negatively correlated with wetland area and species trait linked to extinction risk (i.e., geographical range size). Our results indicate that selective extinction may be the main driver of the nestedness of waterbird assemblages in our study system. However, the nestedness was not due to passive sampling, selective colonization, or habitat diversity. From a conservation viewpoint, both large wetlands and waterbirds with a small geographic range should be protected to maximize the preserved species richness.展开更多

However, the ever-advancing capabilities of computer vision have gradually diminished the security of image captchas and made them vulnerable to attack. In this paper, we first classify the currently popular image captchas into three categories: selection-based captchas, slide-based captchas, and click-based captchas. Second, we propose simple yet powerful attack frameworks against each of these categories of image captchas. Third, we systematically evaluate our attack frameworks against 10 popular real-world image captchas, including captchas from tencent.com, google.com, and 12306.cn. Fourth, we compare our attacks against nine online image recognition services and against human labors from eight underground captcha-solving services. Our evaluation results show that(1) each of the popular image captchas that we study is vulnerable to our attacks;(2) our attacks yield the highest captcha-breaking success rate compared with state-of-the-art methods in almost all scenarios; and(3) our attacks achieve almost as high a success rate as human labor while being much faster.Based on our evaluation, we identify some design flaws in these popular schemes, along with some best practices and design principles for more secure captchas. We also examine the underground market for captcha-solving services, identifying 152 such services. We then seek to measure this underground market with data from these services. Our findings shed light on understanding the scale, impact, and commercial landscape of the underground market for captcha solving.展开更多

文摘Emerging research suggests a potential association of progression of Alzheimer's disease(AD)with alterations in synaptic currents and mitochondrial dynamics. However, the specific associations between these pathological changes remain unclear. In this study,we utilized Aβ42-induced AD rats and primary neural cells as in vivo and in vitro models. The investigations included behavioural tests, brain magnetic resonance imaging(MRI),liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry(UPLC-MS/MS)analysis,Nissl staining,thioflavin-S staining,enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay,Golgi-Cox staining, transmission electron microscopy(TEM),immunofluorescence staining, proteomics, adenosine triphosphate(ATP)detection, mitochondrial membrane potential(MMP)and reactive oxygen species(ROS)assessment, mitochondrial morphology analysis, electrophysiological studies,Western blotting, and molecular docking. The results revealed changes in synaptic currents, mitophagy, and mitochondrial dynamics in the AD models.Remarkably, intervention with Dengzhan Shengmai(DZSM)capsules emerged as a pivotal element in this investigation.Aβ42-induced synaptic dysfunction was significantly mitigated by DZSM intervention, which notably amplified the frequency and amplitude of synaptic transmission. The cognitive impairment observed in AD rats was ameliorated and accompanied by robust protection against structural damage in key brain regions, including the hippocampal CA3,primary cingular cortex, prelimbic system, and dysgranular insular cortex.DZSM intervention led to increased IDE levels, augmented long-term potential(LTP)amplitude, and enhanced dendritic spine density and length. Moreover,DZSM intervention led to favourable changes in mitochondrial parameters, including ROS expression,MMP and ATP contents, and mitochondrial morphology. In conclusion, our findings delved into the realm of altered synaptic currents, mitophagy, and mitochondrial dynamics in AD,concurrently highlighting the therapeutic potential of DZSM intervention.

文摘Nestedness has been a research focus in fields of island biogeography and community ecology in recent decades. From a conservation viewpoint, both large wetlands and waterbirds with a small geographic range should be protected to maximize the preserved species richness.

文摘The Bozhushan Ore Field, located at the western margin of the South China Block,is an important area for Ag-Pb-Zn-W polymetallic mineralization which may be associated with the Late Cretaceous granitic magmaism. In this paper, the singular value decomposition(SVD)was effectively applied to decompose gravity data at scale of 1:50000 within the Bozhushan Ore Field to extract deep ore-finding information. Two gravity anomaly images displaying different scales of the ore-controlling factors were obtained.(1)The low-pass filtered image may reflect the deeply buried geological structures, hidden intrusions and concealed ore bodies. The negative gravity anomaly may reflect the overall distribution of granite bodies in the Bozhushan Ore Field. One negative gravity anomaly area may correspond to the exposed part of the Baozhushan granitic intrusion and the other corresponds to the concealed part of the granitic intrusion. The granitic intrusions are the main ore-controlling factors in this ore district.(2)The band-pass filtered image depicts the shallow concealed geological structures and geological bodies within this study area. There are two obvious negative gravity anomalies, which may be created by the hidden granites at different depths at both northwestern and southeastern sides of the exposed granitic intrusion. Thus the two negative gravity anomalies are favorable prospecting areas for various type of polymetallic ore deposits at depth. The gravity anomalies extracted by using the SVD exactly reflect the distribution of the ore deposits, structures and intrusions, which will give new insights for further mineral exploration in the study area.

文摘Influenza A virus may circulate simultaneously with the SARS-CoV-2 virus, leading to more serious respiratory diseases during this winter. However, the influence of these viruses on disease outcome when both influenza A and SARS-CoV-2 are present in the host remains unclear.Using a mammalian model, sequential infection was performed in ferrets and in K18-MCE2 mice, with SARS-CoV-2 infection following H1N1.We found that co-infection with H1N1 and SARS-CoV-2 extended the duration of clinical manifestation of COVID-19,and enhanced pulmonary damage, but reduced viral shedding of throat swabs and viral loads in the lungs of ferrets. Moreover, mortality was increased in sequentially infected mice compared with single-infection mice.Compared with singlevaccine inoculation,co-inoculation of PiCoVacc(a SARS-CoV-2 vaccine)and the flu vaccine showed no significant differences in neutralizing antibody titers or virus-specific immune responses.Combined immunization effectively protected K18-MCE2 mice against both H1N1 and SARS-CoV-2 infection. Our findings indicated the development of systematic models of co-infection of H1N1 and SARS-CoV-2,which together notably enhanced pneumonia in ferrets and mice,as well as demonstrated that simultaneous vaccination against HINT and SARS-CoV-2 may be an effective prevention strategy for the coming winter.

文摘Image captchas have recently become very popular and are widely deployed across the Internet to defend against abusive programs. Our findings shed light on understanding the scale, impact, and commercial landscape of the underground market for captcha solving.
