Perpendicular optical reversal of the linear dichroism transition has promising applications in polarization-sensitive optoelectronic devices. We perform a systematical study on the in-plane optical anisotropy of quasi-one-dimensional PdBr_(2) by using combined measurements of the angle-resolved polarized Raman spectroscopy(ARPRS) and anisotropic optical absorption spectrum. The analyses of ARPRS data validate the anisotropic Raman properties of the PdBr_(2) flake.And anisotropic optical absorption spectrum of PdBr_(2) nanoflake demonstrates distinct optical linear dichroism reversal. Photodetector constructed by PdBr_(2) nanowire exhibits high responsivity of 747 A·W^(-1) and specific detectivity of 5.8×10^(12) Jones. And the photodetector demonstrates prominent polarization-sensitive photoresponsivity under 405-nm light irradiation with large photocurrent anisotropy ratio of 1.56, which is superior to those of most of previously reported quasi-one-dimensional counterparts. Our study offers fundamental insights into the strong optical anisotropy exhibited by PdBr_(2), establishing it as a promising candidate for miniaturization and integration trends of polarization-related applications. 展开更多

SSIs are challengin... BACKGROUND Surgical site infections(SSIs) are the commonest healthcare-associated infection. In addition to increasing mortality, it also lengthens the hospital stay and raises healthcare expenses. SSIs are challenging to predict, with most models having poor predictability. Therefore, we developed a prediction model for SSI after elective abdominal surgery by identifying risk factors.AIM To analyse the data on inpatients undergoing elective abdominal surgery to identify risk factors and develop predictive models that will help clinicians assess patients preoperatively.METHODS We retrospectively analysed the inpatient records of Shaanxi Provincial People’s Hospital from January 1, 2018 to January 1, 2021. We included the demographic data of the patients and their haematological test results in our analysis. The attending physicians provided the Nutritional Risk Screening 2002(NRS 2002)scores. The surgeons and anaesthesiologists manually calculated the National Nosocomial Infections Surveillance(NNIS) scores. Inpatient SSI risk factors were evaluated using univariate analysis and multivariate logistic regression. Nomograms were used in the predictive models. The receiver operating characteristic and area under the curve values were used to measure the specificity and accuracy of the model.RESULTS A total of 3018 patients met the inclusion criteria. The surgical sites included the uterus(42.2%), the liver(27.6%), the gastrointestinal tract(19.1%), the appendix(5.9%), the kidney(3.7%), and the groin area(1.4%). SSI occurred in 5% of the patients(n = 150). The risk factors associated with SSI were as follows: Age;gender;marital status;place of residence;history of diabetes;surgical season;surgical site;NRS 2002 score;preoperative white blood cell, procalcitonin(PCT), albumin, and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL) levels;preoperative antibiotic use;anaesthesia method;incision grade;NNIS score;intraoperative blood loss;intraoperative drainage tube placement;surgical operation items. Multivariate logistic regression revealed the following independent risk factors: A history of diabetes [odds ratio(OR) = 5.698, 95% confidence interval(CI): 3.305-9.825, P = 0.001], antibiotic use(OR = 14.977, 95%CI: 2.865-78.299, P = 0.001), an NRS 2002 score of ≥ 3(OR = 2.426, 95%CI: 1.199-4.909, P = 0.014), general anaesthesia(OR = 3.334, 95%CI: 1.134-9.806, P = 0.029), an NNIS score of ≥ 2(OR = 2.362, 95%CI: 1.019-5.476, P = 0.045), PCT ≥ 0.05 μg/L(OR = 1.687, 95%CI: 1.056-2.695, P = 0.029), LDL < 3.37 mmol/L(OR = 1.719, 95%CI: 1.039-2.842, P = 0.035), intraoperative blood loss ≥ 200 mL(OR = 29.026, 95%CI: 13.751-61.266, P < 0.001), surgical season(P < 0.05), surgical site(P < 0.05), and incision grade I or Ⅲ(P < 0.05). The overall area under the receiver operating characteristic curve of the predictive model was 0.926, which is significantly higher than the NNIS score(0.662).CONCLUSION The patient’s condition and haematological test indicators form the bases of our prediction model. It is a novel, efficient, and highly accurate predictive model for preventing postoperative SSI, thereby improving the prognosis in patients undergoing abdominal surgery. 展开更多

This paper presents a modified Stewart platform that enables precise adjustment of the sub-reflector for the Qitai Radio Telescope(QTT).QTT demands a parallel platform capable of carrying a heavy load(≥4000 kg),and moving in elevation from 5°to 88°together with the primary reflector while precisely adjusting the sub-reflector’s position in five degrees of freedom.To meet these requirements,a modified Stewart platform with two separated actuators is proposed,and the comprehensive performance is analyzed and optimized for practical application.The performance of the modified platform is compared to that of the traditional Stewart platform,and the results demonstrate that the modified platform has superior load-bearing capacity and stiffness over the entire elevation angle with more uniform actuator load and stiffness distributions.These results indicate that the modified Stewart platform is well-suited for practical application in QTT. 展开更多

AIM: To investigate the optimal magnetic pressure and provide a theoretical basis for choledochojejunostomy magnetic compressive anastomosis(magnamosis).METHODS: Four groups of neodymium-iron-boron magnets with different magnetic pressures of 0.1, 0.2, 0.3 and 0.4 MPa were used to complete the choledochojejunostomy magnamosis. Twenty-six young mongrel dogs were randomly divided into five groups: four groups with different magnetic pressures and 1 group with a hand-suture anastomosis. Serum bilirubin levels were measured in all groups before and 1 wk, 2 wk, 3 wk, 1 mo and 3 mo after surgery. Daily abdominal X-ray fluoroscopy was carried out postoperatively to detect the path and the excretion of the magnet. The animals were euthanized at 1 or 3 mo after the operation, the burst pressure was detected in each anastomosis, and the gross appearance and histology were compared according to the observation.RESULTS: The surgical procedures were all successfully performed in animals. However, animals of group D(magnetic pressure of 0.4 MPa) all experienced complications with bile leakage(4/4), whereas half of animals in group A(magnetic pressure of 0.1 MPa) experienced complications(3/6), 1 animal in the manual group E developed anastomotic stenosis, and animals in group B and group C(magnetic pressure of 0.2 MPa and 0.3 MPa, respectively) all healed well without complications. These results also suggested that the time required to form the stoma was inversely proportional to the magnetic pressure; however, the burst pressure of group A was smaller than those of the other groups at 1 mo(187.5 ± 17.7 vs 290 ± 10/296.7 ± 5.7/287.5 ± 3.5, P < 0.05); the remaining groups did not differ significantly. A histologic examination demonstrated obvious differences between the magnamosis groups and the hand-sewn group.CONCLUSION: We proved that the optimal range for choledochojejunostomy magnamosis is 0.2 MPa to 0.3 MPa, which will help to improve the clinical application of this technique in the future. 展开更多

The Qinling Orogen in Central China records the history of a complex geological evolution and tectonic transition from compression to extension during the Late Mesozoic,with concomitant voluminous granitoids formation.In this study,we present results from petrological,geochemical,zircon U-Pb-Lu-Hf isotopic studies on the Lengshui felsic dykes from Luanchuan region in the East Qinling Orogen.We also compile published geochronological,geochemical,and Hf isotopic data from Luanchuan region and present zircon Hf isotopic contour maps.The newly obtained age data yield two group of ages at w145 Ma and 140 Ma for two granite porphyries from the Lengshui felsic dykes,with the w145 Ma interpreted as response to the peak of magmatism in the region,and the w140 Ma as the timing of formation of the felsic dykes.The corresponding Hf isotopic data of the granite porphyries display negative εHf(t) values of e16.67 to e4.61,and Hf crustal model ages (TDM^C) of 2255e1490 Ma,indicating magma sourced from the melting of Paleo- to Mesoproterozoic crustal materials.The compiled age data display two major magmatic pulses at 160e130 Ma and 111e108 Ma with magmatic quiescence in between,and the zircon Hf isotopic data display εHf(t) values ranging from e41.9 to 2.1 and TDM^C values of 3387e1033 Ma,suggesting mixed crustal and mantle-derived components in the magma source,and correspond to multiple tectonic events during the Late Mesozoic.The Luanchuan granitoids are identified as I-type granites and most of these are highly fractionated granites,involving magma mixing and mingling and crystal fractionation.The tectonic setting in the region transformed from the Late Jurassic syn-collision setting to Early Cretaceous within-plate setting,with EeW extension in the Early Cretaceous.This extension is correlated with the NeS trending post-collisional extension between the North China Craton and Yangtze Craton as well as the EeW trending back-arc extension triggered by the westward Paleo-Pacific Plate subduction,eventually leading to lithospheric thinning,asthenospheric upwelling,mafic magma underplating,and crustal melting in the East Qinling Orogen. 展开更多

WRKY transcription factors (TFs) play important roles in the regulation of biotic and abiotic stresses. However, the functions of most WRKY TFs in upland cotton (Gossypium hirsutum) are still unknown. In this study, we functionally identified a group Ⅲ WRKY transcription factor, GhWRKY70, in upland cotton. Reverse transcription-quantitative PCR analysis showed that GhWRKY70 expression was induced by Verticillium dahliae, salicylic acid (SA) and methyl jasmonate. Virus-induced gene silencing of GhWRKY70 increased the resistance of cotton to V. dahliae. Specifically, jasmonic acid (JA) response-associated genes were upregulated and SA-related genes were downregulated in GhWRKY70-silenced cotton plants. Overexpression of GhWRKY70 reduced tolerance to V. dahliae in Arabidopsis thaliana. Transgenic Arabidopsis plants showed increased expression of SA-associated genes and reduced expression of JA response-associated genes. These results suggest that GhWRKY70 negatively regulates tolerance to V. dahliae in at least two ways: (ⅰ) by upregulating the expression of SA-associated genes and (ⅱ) by reducing the expression of JA-associated genes. 展开更多

AIM To design a miniature magnetically anchored and controlled camera system to reduce the number of trocars which are required for laparoscopy.METHODS The system consists of a miniature magnetically anchored camera with a 30° downward angle, an external magnetically anchored unit, and a vision output device. The camera weighs 12 g, measures Φ10.5 mm × 55 mm and has two magnets, a vision model, a light source, and a metal hexagonal nut. To test the prototype, the camera was inserted through a 12-mm conventional trocar in an ex vivo real liver laparoscopic training system. A trocar-less laparoscopic cholecystectomy was performed 6 times using a 12-mm and a 5-mm conventional trocar. In addition, the same procedure was performed in four canine models.RESULTS Both procedures were successfully performed using only two conventional laparoscopic trocars. The cholecystectomy was completed without any major complication in 42 min(38-45 min) in vitro and in 50 min(45-53 min) using an animal model. This camera was anchored and controlled by an external unit magnetically anchored on the abdominal wall. The camera could generate excellent image. with no instrument collisions.CONCLUSION The camera system we designed provides excellent optics and can be easily maneuvered. The number of conventional trocars is reduced without adding technical difficulties. 展开更多

Male-male vocal competition in anuran species may be influenced by cues related to the temporal sequence of male calls as well by internal temporal, spectral and spatial ones. Nevertheless, the conditions under which each type of cue is important remain unclear. Since the salience of different cues could be reflected by dynamic properties of male-male competition under certain experimental manipulation, we investigated the effects of repeating playbacks of conspecific calls on male call production in the Emei music frog(Babina daunchina). In Babina, most males produce calls from nest burrows which modify the spectral features of the cues. Females prefer calls produced from inside burrows which are defined as highly sexually attractive(HSA) while those produced outside burrows as low sexual attractiveness(LSA). In this study HSA and LSA calls were broadcasted either antiphonally or stereophonically through spatially separated speakers in which the temporal sequence and/or spatial position of the playbacks was either predictable or random. Results showed that most males consistently avoided producing advertisement calls overlapping the playback stimuli and generally produced calls competitively in advance of the playbacks. Furthermore males preferentially competed with the HSA calls when the sequence was predictable but competed equally with HSA and LSA calls if the sequence was random regardless of the availability of spatial cues, implying that males relied more on available sequence cues than spatial ones to remain competitive. 展开更多

The effectiveness of rock bolting in ground control has been extensively investigated,mainly for resin based systems.Alternative coupling materials are needed to have good mechanical performance and to reduce the economic impact.This study proposed a new bolting system exploiting steel particles as coupling material.The applicability of this system was assessed by laboratory and field pullout tests,assisted by digital imaging correlation(DIC),infrared thermography(IRT)and acoustic emission(AE).The results indicated that,for a 20 mm diameter bolt,the suitable steel particle size and corresponding inner diameter of borehole were 1.4 and 28 mm,respectively.For bolts installed in steel tubes,the particles improved the loading capacity compared to the resin bonded ones.Additional pullout tests on cement blocks indicated that steel particles can be effective for hard rock,whilst resin was a better choice for bolting of soft rock.Similar understanding was obtained by pullout tests in engineering fields,which demonstrated that the steel particles coupled bolts can provide favorable effects in hard rock mass,while the effects were negligible when installed in extremely soft coal mass.The wide set of multi-technique measurements helped to understand the mechanisms involved in the performance of the bolting system with coupling steel particles. 展开更多

A new mobility model in relation to aging temperature and Cr content was used in the simulations. Two alloys of Fe-30at%Cr and Fe-35at%Cr were investigated at two different aging temperatures of 573 and 673 K. The phase separation kinetics was found to consist of three stages: wavelength modulation, amplitude increase, and coarsening of Cr-enriched regions. A higher thermal aging temperature accelerated the phase separation and increased the wavelength of concentration fluctuation. While the effect of Cr content on the phase separation kinetics was slight, Fe-Cr alloys with a higher Cr content were found to generate a larger number and a finer size of Cr-enriched regions. The simulation results provide consultation for design and safe operation of duplex stainless steel pipes in nuclear power plants. 展开更多

In the present study, we investigated the functional complexity of anuran auditory processing using the approximate entropy(Ap En) protocol for electroencephalogram(EEG) recordings from the forebrain and midbrain while male and female music frogs(Babina daunchina) listened to acoustic stimuli whose biological significance varied. The stimuli used were synthesized white noise(reflecting a novel signal), conspecific male advertisement calls with either high or low sexual attractiveness(reflecting sexual selection) and silence(reflecting a baseline). The results showed that 1) Ap En evoked by conspecific calls exceeded Ap En evoked by synthesized white noise in the left mesencephalon indicating this structure plays a critical role in processing acoustic signals with biological significance; 2) Ap En in the mesencephalon was significantly higher than for the telencephalon, consistent with the fact that the anuran midbrain contains a large well-organized auditory nucleus(torus semicircularis) while the forebrain does not; 3) for females Ap En in the mesencephalon was significantly different than that of males, suggesting that males and females process biological stimuli related to mate choice differently. 展开更多

Fiber length is one of the most important quality parameters of cotton fibers.Transcriptomic analyses of developing cotton fibers have identified genes preferentially expressing in fiber elongation stage,but few have been functionally characterized.Here,on the basis of confirmation of the preferential expression profile of GhAlaRP(Gh_A09G1166 and Gh_D09G1172),an alanine rich protein gene,in the rapid elongating fibers,we investigated the role of GhAlaRP in fiber development by generating transgenic cottons with an increased or decreased expression level of GhAlaRP.Our results showed that the fiber length was consistently significantly shorter in both the GhAlaRP-RNAi lines and the alarp mutant generated by genome editing than in the control YZ-1.GhAlaRP was localized on plasma membrane,nucleus and endoplasmic reticulum.The yeast two-hybrid assay and bimolecular fluorescence complementation assay showed that GhAlaRP co-expresses and interacts with GhAnnexin(Gh_D11G2184)and GhEXPA(Gh_A10G2323)that are involved in fiber elongation.Down-regulation of GhAlaRP co-suppressed the expression levels of GhAnnexin and GhEXPA.These results suggest a role of GhAlaRP in regulation of cotton fiber elongation,which could be achieved by regulating the functions of GhAnnexin and GhEXPA. 展开更多

The Hongdonggou Pb-Zn polymetallic ore deposit, located in the southwestern part of the Luanchuan Mo-W-Pb-Zn-Ag polymetallic ore mineralization in Henan Province, China, is an important part of the East Qinling metallogenic belt. The orebodies in the deposit, which are vein, bedded and lenticular, are mainly hosted in the syenite porphyry, and formed within the carbonate and clastic rocks of the Yuku and Qiumugou formations partially. The genesis of the deposit has previously been argued to be of hydrothermal-vein type or of skarn-hydrothermal type. In this study, we report the results of Rb-Sr isotopic dating based on sphalerites from the main orebody of the Hongdonggou Pb-Zn polymetallic ore deposit, which yield an isochron age of 135.7 ± 3.2 Ma, constraining the timing of mineralization as early Cretaceous. The age is close to those reported for the Pb-Zn deposits in the Luanchuan ore belt. The (87Sr/86Sr)i values of the sphalerites (0.71127± 0.00010) are lower than that of terrigenous silicates (0.720) and higher than the mantle (0.707), suggesting that the metallogenic components were mainly derived through crust-mantle mixing. Combining the results from this study with those from previous work, we propose that the Hongdonggou Pb-Zn polymetallic ore deposit is a hydrothermal-vein deposit associated with the early Cretaceous tectonothermal event, and the mineralization is controlled by NW- and near EW-trending faults in the Luanchuan Mo-W-Pb-Zn-Ag polymetallic ore concentration belt. 展开更多

Objective:To evaluate the effect of CBL(case-based learning)combined with case analysis in the teaching of clinical anesthesia.Methods:From June 2018 to June 2020,a total of 100 clinical anesthesia interns in Shaanxi Provincial People’s Hospital were selected as the research subjects.They were divided into two groups,the reference group(50 interns)and the study group(50 interns),by random sampling method.The reference group was under the traditional teaching method,whereas for the study group,CBL combined with case analysis was implemented.The teaching satisfaction and achievement of the interns in both the groups were evaluated.Results:The teaching satisfaction of the study group was 98%,which was significantly higher than that of the reference group(86%)(P<0.05);before teaching,there was no significant difference in the theoretical and clinical practice scores between the two groups(P>0.05);however,after teaching,the theoretical and clinical practice scores of the two groups increased significantly,in which the change of the research group was significantly greater than that of the reference group(P<0.05).Conclusion:The application of CBL combined with case analysis in the teaching of clinical anesthesia has an ideal effect,improving the teaching satisfaction and achievement.It is a high-quality teaching method and is worthy of application. 展开更多

Laser-induced plasmas of dual-pulse fiber-optic laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy with different pulse energy ratios are studied by using the optical emission spectroscopy(OES)and fast imaging.The energy of the two laser pulses is independently adjusted within 0–30 m J with the total energy fixed at 30 m J.The inter-pulse delay remains 450 ns constantly.As the energy share of the first pulse increases,a similar bimodal variation trend of line intensities is observed.The two peaks are obtained at the point where the first pulse is half or twice of the second one,and the maximum spectral enhancement is at the first peak.The bimodal variation trend is induced by the change in the dominated mechanism of dual-pulse excitation with the trough between the two peaks caused by the weak coupling between the two mechanisms.By increasing the first pulse energy,there is a transition from the ablation enhancement dominance near the first peak to the plasma reheating dominance near the second peak.The calculations of plasma temperature and electron number density are consistent with the bimodal trend,which have the values of 17024.47 K,2.75×10^(17)cm;and 12215.93 K,1.17×10^(17)cm;at a time delay of 550 ns.In addition,the difference between the two peaks decreases with time delay.With the increase in the first pulse energy share,the plasma morphology undergoes a transformation from hemispherical to shiny-dot and to oblate-cylinder structure during the second laser irradiation from the recorded images by using an intensified charge-coupled device(ICCD)camera.Correspondingly,the peak expansion distance of the plasma front first decreases significantly from 1.99 mm in the single-pulse case to 1.34 mm at 12/18(dominated by ablation enhancement)and then increases slightly with increasing the plasma reheating effect.The variations in plasma dynamics verify that the change of pulse energy ratios leads to a transformation in the dual-pulse excitation mechanism. 展开更多
