Evaluation of Ecological and Economic Index in Poyang Lake Ecological Economic Zone

The society and related research fields were paying close attention to make great efforts to promote the construction level of ecological civilization in China. And measuring and evaluating the status of eco-economic development always was the focus and difficulty in current researches. Based on the methods of Analytic Hierarchy Process( AHP) and the concept of Eco-Factor of Economic Growth and Ecological Efficiency,combined with the fact of research area,the index system of Ecological Economy Index( EEI),which includes social development,economic growth,ecological building,resource use and environmental protection,was built up to measure and evaluate the eco-economic system's development situation. The weights of all indicators in the EEI system were acquired from the method of expert consultation. All the methods were applied to assess the eco-economic development situation in Poyang Lake Ecological Economic Zone of Jiangxi Province. The results showed that:( i) The model of EEI could intuitively apply to reflect the eco-economic development situation and coordinate extent of the assessment units in the Poyang Lake Eco-economic Zone,which could provide some scientific guides on finding breakthrough point of evaluating eco-economic level for concerned management departments and policies making organizations.( ii) There were distinct differences of Ecological Economy Index value between the counties,cities or districts. Wannian county was on the best situation with the highest EEI value( EEI = 55.74),and Ruichang city was found to be on the worst eco-economic development situation with the lowest EEI value( EEI = 28. 65).( iii) The developed counties( cities or districts) with high EEI value should improve resource use's efficiency,protect environment and strengthen ecological construction. The other areas should effectively combine the speed with the quality of economic growth in the process of eco-economic development.( iv) The counties( cities or districts) with low EEI values should develop economics,improve the quality of economic growth,and increase the efficiency of resources use under the same time of protecting environment.( v) The overall score of the EEI value of Poyang Lake Ecological Economic Zone was on a lower level with 38. 37,enhancing environmental protection and resources use level was the main measure in the future. Autotetraploidy induced in Nianmaohuangqin (Radix Scutellariae viscidulae) with colchicine in vitro

OBJECTIVE:To establish and optimize the propagation of Nianmaohuangqin(Radix Scutellariae Viscidulae) and induce and characterize polyploidy of Nianmaohuangqin(RadixScutellariaeViscidulae).METHODS: Buds from germinating seed-derived explants were induced by tissue culture. With an orthogonal test, different concentrations of 6-benzylaminopurine(BAP), indole-3-acetic acid(IAA) and kinetin(KT) were used to determine the optimal concentrations for the propagation of Nianmaohuangqin(Radix Scutellariae Viscidulae). The different concentrations of IAA and rooting powder(ABT) were used to induce rooting. A 0.3% w/v colchicine solution was used to induce polyploidy and the induced buds was identified by root-tip chro-mosome determination and stomatal apparatus observation.RESULTS: A large number of buds could be induced directly from epicotyl and hypocotyl explants on Murashige and Skoog(MS)(Murashige and Skoog 1962) medium supplemented with1.1-1.3 mg/L BAP and 0.2 mg/L IAA. Root induction anddevelopmentcouldbeobservedwithin20 days of inoculation on 1/2 MS medium supplemented with 0.2 mg/L IAA and 0.1 mg/L ABT. Furthermore,27 lines of autotetraploid individuals were obtained with a plantlet chromosome number of 2n=4x=36.CONCLUSION: Autotetraploid lines could be obtained through induction with colchicine in vitro,proving that this method might be used for plant selection and breeding. 展开更多

Material flow analysis(MFA)of an eco-economic system:a case study of Wujin District,Changzhou,China

The economic and ecological aspects of a social system are coherently linked and can be examined by its material and energy flows.In this study,we used the material flow analysis(MFA)to model the material input and output of the Wujin District of Changzhou City,Jiangsu Province in China.It was revealed that:(1)total material input and material input per capita increased with economic development,while the total material out-put and material output per capita decreased consistently;(2)except for water,the total material input continued to increase.Input of solid materials grew faster than that of gaseous materials,while the total material output declined.The gas output accounted for the largest pro-portion of the output resulting in primary environmental pollution as burned fossil fuel;(3)water use in agriculture continued with an increasing trend while that in industrial and residential sectors decreased per capita.The total wastewater discharge and wastewater discharge per capita decreased with a faster decreasing rate of residential was-tewater discharge followed by industrial wastewater discharge;(4)material input per unit GDP fluctuated and material output per unit GDP decreased.A decreasing trend in both water use and wastewater discharge per unit GDP was disclosed.These results suggest that the efficiency of resource use in the Wujin District has improved.This weakened the direct link between economic development and environmental deterioration.Additionally,we discussed the harmonic development between environment and economy.Potential limitations of MFA’s application were also discussed.It is suggested that effective measures should be taken for the enforcement of cir-cular economic strategies and the construction of a resource-saving economy. 展开更多
