BACKGROUND Stroke is a common disabling disease,whether it is ischemic stroke or hemorrhagic stroke,both can result in neuronal damage,leading to various manifestations of neurological dysfunction.AIM To explore of the application value of swallowing treatment device combined with swallowing rehabilitation training in the treatment of swallowing disorders after stroke.METHODS This study selected 86 patients with swallowing disorders after stroke admitted to our rehabilitation department from February 2022 to December 2023 as research subjects.They were divided into a control group(n=43)and an observation group(n=43)according to the treatment.The control group received swallowing rehabilitation training,while the observation group received swallowing treatment device in addition to the training.Both groups underwent continuous intervention for two courses of treatment.RESULTS The total effective rate in the observation group(93.02%)was higher than that in the control group(76.74%)(P=0.035).After intervention,the oral transit time,swallowing response time,pharyngeal transit time,and laryngeal closure time decreased in both groups compared to before intervention.In the observation group,the oral transit time,swallowing response time,and pharyngeal transit time were shorter than those in the control group after intervention.However,the laryngeal closure time after intervention in the observation group was compared with that in the control group(P=0.142).After intervention,average amplitude value and duration of the genioglossus muscle group during empty swallowing and swallowing 5 mL of water are reduced compared to before intervention in both groups.After intervention,the scores of the chin-tuck swallowing exercise and the Standardized Swallowing Assessment are both reduced compared to pre-intervention levels in both groups.However,the observation group scores lower than the control group after intervention.Additionally,the Functional Oral Intake Scale scores of both groups are increased after intervention compared to pre-intervention levels,with the observation group scoring higher than the control group after intervention(P<0.001).The cumulative incidence of complications in the observation group is 9.30%,which is lower than the 27.91%in the control group(P=0.027).CONCLUSION The combination of swallowing therapy equipment with swallowing rehabilitation training can improve the muscle movement level of the genioglossus muscle group,enhance swallowing function,and prevent the occurrence of swallowing-related complications after stroke. 展开更多

The prediction of bathymetry has advanced significantly with the development of satellite altimetry.However,the majority of its data originate from marine gravity anomaly.In this study,based on the expression of vertical gravity gradient(VGG)of a rectangular prism,the governing equations for determining sea depths to invert bathymetry.The governing equation is solved by linearization through an iterative process,and numerical simulations verify its algorithm and its stability.We also study the processing methods of different interference errors.The regularization method improves the stability of the inversion process for errors.A piecewise bilinear interpolation function roughly replaces the low-frequency error,and numerical simulations show that the accuracy can be improved by 41.2%after this treatment.For variable ocean crust density,simulation simulations verify that the root-mean-square(RMS)error of prediction is approximately 5 m for the sea depth of 6 km if density is chosen as the average one.Finally,two test regions in the South China Sea are predicted and compared with ship soundings data,RMS errors of predictions are 71.1 m and 91.4 m,respectively. 展开更多

This study details an astrometric observation campaign of the Near-Earth Asteroid 1998 HH49,conducted with the aim of refining our understanding of its physical characteristics.Utilizing the 50 cm telescope located at the Wumingshan Mountain in Daocheng,Sichuan,images were obtained over four nights,from 2023 October 19 to October 22.These observations were processed using Astrometrica software,facilitating the precise determination of the asteroid's position.The observational results were compared with the ephemerides from three distinct sources to verify accuracy:the Jet Propulsion Laboratory(JPL)Horizons System,the Institut de Mécanique Céleste et de Calcul deséphémérides(IMCCE)Miriade,and the Near-Earth Objects Dynamic Site(NEODyS-2).When compared with the JPL ephemeris,a mean observed-minus-calculated(O-C)result of 0.″07 in the R.A.direction and-0.″35 in the decl.direction was yielded.Furthermore,the comparison with the IMCCE ephemeris yielded mean O-C results of 0.″08 in the R.A.direction and-0.″06 in the decl.direction.The comparison with the NEODyS-2 ephemeris yielded the mean O-C results of 0.″06 in R.A.and-0.″49 in decl.direction.The study's findings demonstrate a general consistency between the observed data and the ephemeris predictions,with minor discrepancies observed across the data sets.Notably,both the JPL and NEODyS-2 ephemerides show that the residuals in the decl.direction exceed those in the R.A.direction.The disparities may result from atmospheric differential color refraction,ephemeris discrepancies,observational errors,and other factors.Additionally,it is worth noting that further investigation is required due to the potential influence of additional factors.Overall,the Daocheng 50 cm Telescope exhibits the ability to conduct high-precision positional measurements. 展开更多

Development and validation of a nomogram for predicting in-hospital mortality of intensive care unit patients with liver cirrhosis

BACKGROUND Liver cirrhosis patients admitted to intensive care unit(ICU)have a high mortality rate.AIM To establish and validate a nomogram for predicting in-hospital mortality of ICU patients with liver cirrhosis.METHODS We extracted demographic,etiological,vital sign,laboratory test,comorbidity,complication,treatment,and severity score data of liver cirrhosis patients from the Medical Information Mart for Intensive Care IV(MIMIC-IV)and electronic ICU(eICU)collaborative research database(eICU-CRD).Predictor selection and model building were based on the MIMIC-IV dataset.The variables selected through least absolute shrinkage and selection operator analysis were further screened through multivariate regression analysis to obtain final predictors.The final predictors were included in the multivariate logistic regression model,which was used to construct a nomogram.Finally,we conducted external validation using the eICU-CRD.The area under the receiver operating characteristic curve(AUC),decision curve,and calibration curve were used to assess the efficacy of the models.RESULTS Risk factors,including the mean respiratory rate,mean systolic blood pressure,mean heart rate,white blood cells,international normalized ratio,total bilirubin,age,invasive ventilation,vasopressor use,maximum stage of acute kidney injury,and sequential organ failure assessment score,were included in the multivariate logistic regression.The model achieved AUCs of 0.864 and 0.808 in the MIMIC-IV and eICU-CRD databases,respectively.The calibration curve also confirmed the predictive ability of the model,while the decision curve confirmed its clinical value.CONCLUSION The nomogram has high accuracy in predicting in-hospital mortality.Improving the included predictors may help improve the prognosis of patients. 展开更多

目的探究阿托伐他汀对激素性股骨头坏死大鼠的作用及对果蝇无翅基因/β-连环蛋白(Wnt/β-catenin)信号通路的影响。方法30只SD雄性大鼠随机分为对照组、模型组及阿托伐他汀组,每组10只。模型组和阿托伐他汀组复制激素性股骨头坏死模型... 目的探究阿托伐他汀对激素性股骨头坏死大鼠的作用及对果蝇无翅基因/β-连环蛋白(Wnt/β-catenin)信号通路的影响。方法30只SD雄性大鼠随机分为对照组、模型组及阿托伐他汀组,每组10只。模型组和阿托伐他汀组复制激素性股骨头坏死模型并对每只大鼠腹腔注射醋酸泼尼松龙(24.5 mg/kg)和青霉素钠(8万u),2次/周,连续给药6周,共18只大鼠模型复制成功。模型复制的同时,阿托伐他汀组腹腔注射阿托伐他汀1 mg/(kg·d),对照组与模型组给予等量的生理盐水,连续治疗6周后,检测各组大鼠血清钙(S-Ca)、血清磷(S-P)水平,以及血清碱性磷酸酶(ALP)、转化生长因子β_(1)(TGF-β_(1))水平;比较大鼠骨组织ALP、TGF-β_(1)mRNA相对表达量;比较大鼠骨组织Wnt1、β-catenin蛋白的表达。结果与对照组比较,模型组大鼠血清S-Ca、S-P及TGF⁃β_(1)水平降低(P<0.05),ALP水平升高(P<0.05),ALP mRNA相对表达量升高(P<0.05),TGF⁃β_(1)mRNA相对表达量降低(P<0.05),Wnt1水平和β-catenin蛋白相对表达量下降(P<0.05);与模型组比较,阿托伐他汀组大鼠血清S-Ca、S-P及TGF⁃β_(1)水平升高(P<0.05),ALP水平降低(P<0.05),ALP mRNA相对表达量下降(P<0.05),TGF-β_(1)mRNA相对表达量升高(P<0.05),Wnt1水平和β-catenin蛋白相对表达量升高(P<0.05)。结论阿托伐他汀能够改善激素性股骨头坏死大鼠骨代谢指标,其机制可能与Wnt/β-catenin信号通路有关。 展开更多

背景与目的结直肠癌(colorectal cancer,CRC)是一种常见的恶性肿瘤。本研究分析了2010–2014年广州地区结直肠癌发病率的时空分布。方法结直肠癌发病数据来自广州癌症登记系统。采用空间自相关分析和回顾性时空扫描评估CRC病例的时空聚... 背景与目的结直肠癌(colorectal cancer,CRC)是一种常见的恶性肿瘤。本研究分析了2010–2014年广州地区结直肠癌发病率的时空分布。方法结直肠癌发病数据来自广州癌症登记系统。采用空间自相关分析和回顾性时空扫描评估CRC病例的时空聚集分布。结果 2010–2014年期间,在广州共登记了14,618例CRC病例,粗发病率为35.56/100,000,世界人口标化发病率(age?standardized rate of incidence by the world standard population,ASRIW)为23.58/100,000。粗发病率从2010年(32.88/100,000)到2014年(39.36/100,000)增长了19.70%,平均年变化率(average annual percentage change,AAPC)为4.33%。ASRIW的AAPC无统计学意义。空间自相关分析显示了广州市中心城区为一个CRC的发病热点,该区域包括了位于白云区西南部、海珠区西北部以及荔湾和越秀区的交界部的共25条街道。CRC发病聚集区的时空扫描分析确定了3个高发和5个低发病聚集区。高发聚集区位于中心城区,包括白云、海珠、荔湾和越秀区之间的交界地区。结论本研究展示出了广州地区CRC发病率的时空聚集模式。该数据可为CRC筛查中合理分配健康资源提供参考信息。 展开更多

Objective:This study aimed to evaluate the effects of mitochondrial pyruvate carrier(MPC)blockade on the sensitivity of detection and radiotherapy of prostate cancer(PCa).Methods:We investigated glycolysis reprogramming and MPC changes in patients with PCa by using metabolic profiling,RNASeq,and tissue microarrays.Transient blockade of pyruvate influx into mitochondria was observed in cellular studies to detect its different effects on prostate carcinoma cells and benign prostate cells.Xenograft mouse models were injected with an MPC inhibitor to evaluate the sensitivity of 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography with computed tomography and radiotherapy of PCa.Furthermore,the molecular mechanism of this different effect of transient blockage towards benign prostate cells and prostate cancer cells was studied in vitro.Results:MPC was elevated in PCa tissue compared with benign prostate tissue,but decreased during cancer progression.The transient blockade increased PCa cell proliferation while decreasing benign prostate cell proliferation,thus increasing the sensitivity of PCa cells to 18F-PET/CT(SUVavg,P=0.016;SUVmax,P=0.03)and radiotherapy(P<0.01).This differential effect of MPC on PCa and benign prostate cells was dependent on regulation by a VDAC1-MPC-mitochondrial homeostasis-glycolysis pathway.Conclusions:Blockade of pyruvate influx into mitochondria increased glycolysis levels in PCa but not in non-carcinoma prostate tissue.This transient blockage sensitized PCa to both detection and radiotherapy,thus indicating that glycolytic potential is a novel mechanism underlying PCa progression.The change in the mitochondrial pyruvate influx caused by transient MPC blockade provides a critical target for PCa diagnosis and treatment. 展开更多

The Late Jurassic-Early Cretaceous Santai Formation, sporadically distributed in western Shandong Province, comprises terrestrial alluvial-eolian successions, which records regional wind patterns and paleogeography in eastern North China. This paper conducts an analysis of eolian stratification, bounding surfaces, facies architecture and paleowind direction of the Santai Formation in the east of the Mengyin Basin, western Shandong Province. Three basic types of eolian stratification are recognized in the Santai Formation, including grainflow strata, wind ripple strata and adhesion strata, and have been grouped into eolian dune and interdune facies associations. The occurrences of reactivation surfaces and superimposition surfaces within eolian dune deposits indicate active compound dunes or draas. The association of adhesion strata with grainflow or windripple strata is the development of a wet eolian system. Cross-strata dip direction indicates different paleowind directions from the lower to the upper part of the Santai paleoerg. The lower part of the paleoerg was characterized by paleowinds blowing from northwest to northeast, whereas the upper part was under the influence of paleowinds consistently towards east to northeast. The identified changes in wind directions possibly suggest wind regime shifts from monsoon circulation to westlies of planetary wind system, which may be related with the collapse of the East China Plateau during the Late Jurassic to Early Cretaceous. 展开更多

A total of 900 soil samples were collected from five habitats,including primary coniferous broad-leaved mixed forests,secondary coniferous broad-leaved mixed forests,secondary broad-leaved forests,secondary shrub forests,and cutover lands in spring,summer,and autumn to quantify responses of soil Collembolans(springtails)to the restoration of vegetation of temperate coniferous and broad-leaved mixed forests.The results reveal that the taxonomic composition of Collembolans varied in the different stages of vegetation restoration.Seasonal variations were in regard to their abundance and richness.High similarities existed in Collembola communities at different stages of vegetation restoration,and distribution patterns of Collembola taxa displayed an evenness throughout all habitats.Soil Collembolans tended to gather on litter layers and soil surface;the highest abundance was found in the upper 5 cm soil layer during the initial stages of vegetation recovery.Tomocerus,Proisotoma,and Folsomia genera responded positively to the restoration of vegetation.However,responses of Ceratophysella and Parisotoma genera were negative.In addition,the Onychiuridae family did not respond to the vegetation restoration process.It was concluded that restoration of vegetative cover can increase the abundance of soil Collembolans,but different genera respond differently. 展开更多

AIM: To measure the depths of different regions of the anterior chamber(AC) in healthy Chinese adults, and to explore possible correlations with age or gender.METHODS: The AC was imaged by swept-source optical coherence tomography in healthy Chinese adults. The horizontal scan of the right eye was used to measure the anterior chamber depth(ACD) at 199 points.RESULTS: A total of 309 images from 309 subjects were analyzed. The ACD values at nearly all locations were negatively correlated with age(all P<0.05), except for ACD1, 2, 198, and 199(correspond to the iris roots). The mean annual decrease 0.013±0.005 mm/y for all ACDs combined, 0.008±0.004 mm/y for the peripheral region, 0.017±0.003 mm/y for the middle peripheral region, and 0.014±0.001 mm/y for the central region. The mean annual decrease was significantly different among these three regions(P<0.001). The ACD was greater in males than in females(P<0.05). The mean difference in ACD between males and females was 0.081±0.025 mm.CONCLUSION: This study showed that optical coherence tomography can be used to measure the ACD of different regions of the AC. We found reductions in ACD with age, although the reduction varied among different points, in healthy Chinese adults. 展开更多

The gravity anomaly and vertical gravity gradient due to anomalous geological bodies are mainly computed by numerical methods,so it is difficult and time-consuming to use the gravity-geological method to invert seafloor topography.This paper addresses this issue by deriving an expression for gravity generated by a cylinder based on a series expansion.The choice of number for terms in the series is estimated by comparing with the numerical method,especially when the depth H=4000m,the accuracy of 1 mGal(1 Gal=10^(-2)m/s^(2))can be achieved when the series are 9.The expressions can be used to establish the relationships between the shape of an anomalous body and the generated vertical gravity and vertical gravity gradient,respectively.Finally,the potential applications of the expressions in inverting seafloor topography are illustrated by synthetic examples. 展开更多

Quinones have been widely studied as a potential catholyte in water-based redox flow batteries(RFBs)due to their ability to carry both electrons and protons in aqueous solutions.The wide variety of quinones and derivatives offers exciting opportunities to optimize the device performance while poses theoretical challenges to quantify their electrochemical behavior as required for molecular design.Computational screening of target quinones with high performance is far from satisfactory.While solvation of quinones affects their potential application in RFBs in terms of both electrochemical windows,stability,and charge transport,experimental data for the solvation structure and solvation free energies are rarely available if not incomplete.Besides,conventional thermodynamic models are mostly unreliable to estimate the properties of direct interest for electrochemical applications.Here,we analyze the hydration free energies of more than 1,400 quinones by combining the first-principles calculations and the classical density functional theory.In order to attain chemical insights and possible trends,special attention is placed on the effects of"backbones"and functional groups on the solvation behavior.The theoretical results provide a thermodynamic basis for the design,synthesis,and screening of high-performance catholytes for electrical energy storage. 展开更多

This study aimed to investigate the ability of the novel materials D-α-tocopheryl poly(2-ethyl-2-oxazoline) succinate(TPOS) to construct pH-sensitive liposomes. TPOS was initially synthesized and characterized by TLC, FTIR, and ~1H-NMR. The buffering capacity of polyethylene glycol-distearoyl phosphatidylethanolamine(PEG-DSPE) and TPOS was determined by acid-base titration, and TPOS displayed a slower downtrend and gentler slope of titration curve than PEG-DSPE within pH 7.4–5.0. Studies on the in vitro drug release demonstrated that TPOS modified docetaxel(DOC) liposomes(TPOS-DOC-L) had a slower drugrelease rate at pH 7.4 similar to PEGylated-DOC liposomes(PEG-DOC-L), whereas the release rate reached approximately 86.92% ± 1.69% at pH 6.4. In vitro cellular uptake assays by microplate reader, and flow cytometry revealed that TPOS modified coumarin 6 liposomes(TPOS-C6-L) had stronger cellular uptake at pH 6.4 than that at pH 7.4( P < 0.01). Conversely, for PEGylated C6 liposomes(PEG-C6-L) and conventional C6 liposomes(C6-L), very similar cellular uptakes were exhibited at different pH values. Confocal laser scanning microscopy images showed that PEG-C6-L and C6-L were mainly located in lysosomes. By contrast, TPOS-C6-L showed broader cytoplasmic release and distribution at 4 h. MTT assay showed that the cytotoxicity of TPOS-DOC-L was similar to that of PEG-DOC-L and conventional DOC liposomes(DOC-L) at the same DOC concentration and at pH 7.4, but was much lower than those at pH 6.4 after 48 h of incubation. The apoptosis of PEG-DOC-L and DOC-L had no remarkable improvement with decreased pH from 7.4 to 6.4. Meanwhile, TPOS-DOC-Lsignificantly induced the apoptosis of HeLa cells with decreased pH. Therefore, TPOS can be a biomaterial for the construction of a pH-sensitive drug delivery system. 展开更多

This study examined the spatio?temporal distribution of the CRC incidence in Guangzhou during 2010–2014.Methods: Colorectal cancer incidence data were obtained from the Guangzhou Cancer Registry System. Spatial autocorrelation analysis and a retrospective spatio?temporal scan were used to assess the spatio?temporal cluster distribution of CRC cases.Results: A total of 14,618 CRC cases were registered in Guangzhou during 2010–2014, with a crude incidence of 35.56/100,000 and an age?standardized rate of incidence by the world standard population(ASRIW) of 23.58/100,000. The crude incidence increased by 19.70% from 2010(32.88/100,000) to 2014(39.36/100,000) with an average annual percentage change(AAPC) of 4.33%. The AAPC of ASRIW was not statistically significant. The spatial autocorrelation analysis revealed a CRC incidence hot spot in central urban areas in Guangzhou City, which included 25 streets in southwestern Baiyun District, northwestern Haizhu District, and the border region between Liwan and Yuexiu Dis?tricts. Three high? and five low?incidence clusters were identified according to spatio?temporal scan of CRC incidence clusters. The high?incidence clusters were located in central urban areas including the border regions between Bai?yun, Haizhu, Liwan, and Yuexiu Districts.Conclusions: This study revealed the spatio?temporal cluster pattern of the incidence of CRC in Guangzhou. We present a fitting calculation of energy-loss function for 26 bulk materials, including 18 pure elements (Ag, A1, Au, C, Co, Cs, Cu, Er, Fe, Ge, Mg, Mo, Nb, Ni, Pd, Pt, Si, Te) and 8 compounds (AgCl, Al2O3, AlAs, CdS, SiO2, ZnS, ZnSe, ZnTe) for application to surface electron spectroscopy analysis. The experimental energy-loss function, which is derived from measured optical data, is fitted into a finite sum of formula based on the Drude-Lindhard dielectric model. By checking the oscillator strength-sum and perfect- screening-sum rules, we have validated the high accuracy of the fitting results. Further-more, based on the fitted parameters, the simulated reflection electron energy-loss spec- troscopy (REELS) spectrum shows a good agreement with experiment. The calculated fitting parameters of energy loss function are stored in an open and online database at http://micro.ustc.edu.cn/ELF/ELF.html. 展开更多

This study investigated dissolution processes of cavitation bubbles generated during in vivo shock wave(SW)-induced treatments. Both active cavitation detection(ACD) and the B-mode imaging technique were applied to measure the dissolution procedure of bi Spheres contrast agent bubbles by in vitro experiments. Besides, the simulation of SW-induced cavitation bubbles dissolution behaviors detected by the B-mode imaging system during in vivo SW treatments, including extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy(ESWL) and extracorporeal shock wave therapy(ESWT), were carried out based on calculating the integrated scattering cross-section of dissolving gas bubbles with employing gas bubble dissolution equations and Gaussian bubble size distribution. The results showed that(i) B-mode imaging technology is an effective tool to monitor the temporal evolution of cavitation bubbles dissolution procedures after the SW pulses ceased, which is important for evaluation and controlling the cavitation activity generated during subsequent SW treatments within a treatment period;(ii) the characteristics of the bubbles, such as the bubble size distribution and gas diffusion, can be estimated by simulating the experimental data properly. 展开更多
