In the establishment of differential equations,the determination of time-varying parameters is a difficult problem,especially for equations related to life activities.Thus,we propose a new framework named BioE-PINN ba...In the establishment of differential equations,the determination of time-varying parameters is a difficult problem,especially for equations related to life activities.Thus,we propose a new framework named BioE-PINN based on a physical information neural network that successfully obtains the time-varying parameters of differential equations.In the proposed framework,the learnable factors and scale parameters are used to implement adaptive activation functions,and hard constraints and loss function weights are skillfully added to the neural network output to speed up the training convergence and improve the accuracy of physical information neural networks.In this paper,taking the electrophysiological differential equation as an example,the characteristic parameters of ion channel and pump kinetics are determined using BioE-PINN.The results demonstrate that the numerical solution of the differential equation is calculated by the parameters predicted by BioE-PINN,the RootMean Square Error(RMSE)is between 0.01 and 0.3,and the Pearson coefficient is above 0.87,which verifies the effectiveness and accuracy of BioE-PINN.Moreover,realmeasuredmembrane potential data in animals and plants are employed to determine the parameters of the electrophysiological equations,with RMSE 0.02-0.2 and Pearson coefficient above 0.85.In conclusion,this framework can be applied not only for differential equation parameter determination of physiological processes but also the prediction of time-varying parameters of equations in other fields.展开更多

Utilizing this unified model, we have explain...In this paper, we mainly review our previous works on a magnetic-monopole toy model, in which the energy resources come from nucleon decay catalyzed by magnetic monopoles. Utilizing this unified model, we have explained various supernova explosion and gamma ray bursts, extra heat at the centers of white dwarfs and the earth. The unusually strong radial magnetic field near the Galactic Center (GC) is quantitatively consistent with our theoretical prediction in 2001. It may be strong astronomical observational evidence of the presence of magnetic monopoles predicted by particle physics. Using the masses of 100,000 quasars observed by SLOAN with various red-shifts due to the black hole, according to the popular black hole accretion model, we estimate the initial mass of quasars when they born in early universe. It is found that most low-red-shifting quasars have an initial mass of negative or very small values. However, based on our proposed model of super massive stars with magnetic monopoles, the statistical distribution of the initial mass for these quasars should be a reasonable Gaussian distribution. This suggests that the modern model of black holes in the quasars and active galactic nucleus may be unreasonable.展开更多
The purpose of this study was to identify and validate circulating microRNAs (miRNAs) in human plasma for use as breast cancer (BC) biomarkers and to analyze their relationship to clinicopathologic features and its pr...The purpose of this study was to identify and validate circulating microRNAs (miRNAs) in human plasma for use as breast cancer (BC) biomarkers and to analyze their relationship to clinicopathologic features and its preliminary biological function. Genome-wide expression profiling of miRNAs in BC was investigated by microarray analysis. miR-155 was up-regulated greater than two-fold in BC compared with Normal Adjacent Tissue (NAT), whereas let-7b, miR-381, miR-10b, miR-125a-5p, miR-335, miR-205 and miR-145 were down- regulated greater than two-fold. Our hypothesis was that circulating miRNAs are also present and differentially expressed in the serum of BC patients compared to controls. Using real-time PCR (RT-PCR), we analyzed miR-205 and miR-155 in archived serum from 30 participants, 20 with breast cancer and 10 healthy people. miR-205 was down-regulated in BC patient serum while miR-155 was up-regulated. Furthermore, we analyzed the relationship between the expression levels of these two miRNAs and the clinicopathologic parameters of BC patients. High expression of miR155 was associated with clinical stage, molecular type, Ki-67 and p53 in BC patients (P<0.05). By contrast, we found no significant correlation between miR-205 and BC patient clinicopathologic parameters. Functional analysis showed that ectopic expression of miR-205 significantly inhibits cell proliferation and promotes apoptosis. miR-205 was down-regulated and miR-155 was up-regulated in BC patient serum. miR-155 was positive correlated with clinical stage and ki-67 and negatively correlated with p53 status.展开更多

Saikosaponins(SSs)are the main active components extracted from Bupleuri Radix(BR)which has been used as an important herbal drug in Asian countries for thousands of years.It has been reported that the intestinal bact...Saikosaponins(SSs)are the main active components extracted from Bupleuri Radix(BR)which has been used as an important herbal drug in Asian countries for thousands of years.It has been reported that the intestinal bacteria plays an important role in the in vivo disposal of oral SSs.Although the deglycosylated derivatives(saikogenins,SGs)of SSs metabolized by the intestinal bacteria are speculated to be the main components absorbed into the blood after oral administration of SSs,no studies have been reported on the characteristics of SGs for their intestinal absorption,and those for SSs are also limited.Therefore,a rapid UHPLC-MS/MS method was developed to investigate and compare the apparent permeability of three common SSs(SSa,SSd,SSb2)and their corresponding SGs(SGF,SGG,SGD)through a bidirectional transport experiment on Caco-2 cell monolayer model.The method was validated according to the latest FDA guidelines and applied to quantify the six analytes in transport medium samples extracted via liquid-liquid extraction(LLE).The apparent permeability coefficient(Papp)determined in this study indicated that the permeability of SGs improved to the moderate class compared to the corresponding parent compounds,predicting a higher in vivo absorption.Moreover,the efflux ratio(ER)value demonstrated an active uptake of SSd and the three SGs,while a passive diffusion of SSa and SSb2.展开更多
Objective: The present study examined the effect of radiotherapy on recurrence and survival in elderly patients with hormone receptor-positive early breast cancer.Methods: A retrospective analysis of 327 patients aged...Objective: The present study examined the effect of radiotherapy on recurrence and survival in elderly patients with hormone receptor-positive early breast cancer.Methods: A retrospective analysis of 327 patients aged ≥65 years, with stage I-II, hormone receptor-positive breast cancer who underwent breast-conserving surgery and received endocrine therapy(ET) or radiotherapy plus endocrine therapy(ET+RT) was performed. Both groups were divided into luminal A type and luminal B type subgroups. Evaluation criteria were 5-year disease-free survival(DFS), local relapse rate(LRR), overall survival(OS), and distant metastasis rate(DMR).Results: There were significant differences in 5-year DFS [hazard ratio(HR)=1.59, 95% confidence interval(95% CI), 1.15-2.19;P=0.005] and LRR(HR=3.33, 95% CI, 1.51-7.34;P=0.003), whereas there were no significant differences in OS and DMR between ET group and ET+RT group. In luminal A type, there was no significant difference in 5-year DFS, LRR, OS and DMR between ET group and ET+RT group. In luminal B type,there were statistically significant differences in 5-year DFS(HR=2.19, 95% CI, 1.37-3.49;P=0.001), LRR(HR=5.45, 95% CI, 1.65-17.98;P=0.005), and OS(HR=1.75, 95% CI, 1.01-3.05;P=0.048) between ET group and ET+RT group. In the ET group, there were significant differences between luminal A type and luminal B type in5-year DFS(HR=1.84, 95% CI, 1.23-2.75;P=0.003) and OS(HR=1.76, 95% CI, 1.07-2.91;P=0.026).Conclusions: After breast-conserving surgery, radiotherapy can reduce the LRR and improve the DFS and OS of luminal B type elderly patients, whereas luminal A type elderly patients do not benefit from radiotherapy.Without radiotherapy, luminal A type patients have better DFS and OS than luminal B type patients.展开更多
This paper reports new data for arsenic(As)and selenium(Se)in a total of twelve bench samples of Ge-rich and Ge-poor coals in the No.6 coal seam from the Wulantuga ore deposit,Inner Mongolia,Northeastern China.The Gep...This paper reports new data for arsenic(As)and selenium(Se)in a total of twelve bench samples of Ge-rich and Ge-poor coals in the No.6 coal seam from the Wulantuga ore deposit,Inner Mongolia,Northeastern China.The Gepoor coals are characterized by low-ash(with a weighted average ash yield 10.59%).The coal samples were digested using an UltraClave microwave high pressure reactor(milestone)and trace elements were detected by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry—collision/reaction cell technology,a reliable method for As and Se determination in coal samples.The contents of As and Se in the Ge-poor(with a weighted average content of 9.14 and 0.30 lg/g,respectively)and Ge-rich coal samples in the present study(varies from 16.88 to 17,776 lg/g and from 0.26 to 14.39 lg/g,respectively)are in a sharp contrast.The As in the Ge-poor coals is of both organic-and pyrite-associations,and its enrichment is attributed to the sediment source,and to a lesser extent,to hydrothermal fluids.Se is predominantly connected with organic matter in the Wulantuga Ge-poor coals.展开更多
