The development of tourism in historic areas imposes immense pressure on heritage conservation, leading to issues such as commercial encroachment and the loss of cultural uniqueness in many domestic areas. Dayan Ancient Town, as an integral part of the Old Town of Lijiang, a World Cultural Heritage Site, faces increasing challenges due to commercialization. This paper explores the cultural and commercial development of Dayan Ancient Town from the perspective of tourist perception. Using the Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP), this study develops an evaluation system and visualization to analyze both cultural and commercial perceptions of tourists. The findings reveal that tourists' cultural perception of the town is limited, while their commercial perception is prominent. Furthermore, the study examines the distribution of cultural attractions and commercial establishments, revealing that the current cultural attractions can't contribute to high and continuous cultural perception results. The study finally proposes recommendations for enhancing tourist perception of the ancient town, such as establishing multi-level protection and development strategies, infusing cultural attributes into business, and expanding cultural attraction clusters. 展开更多

The health significance of walking has become increasingly prominent. To better understand how factors influence behavior is a necessary basis for effective behavioral intervention. In view of the complexity of human behavior, this paper explores the influencing factors of pedestrian walking and their influencing mechanism under different behavioral purposes from the socio-ecological perspective, based on the empirical data of Shenzhen. The analysis reveals that:factors in each dimension interact to have a joint influence on walking activities, among which the influences of behavioral habit, physical environment, and policy environment are more prominent;the differentiation of influencing factors under different behavioral purposes is relatively obvious in physical environment dimension;the comprehensive performance of factors is more prominent in physical environment dimension, which is effective, especially under the intervention of policy environment factors;behavioral intervention practices should be integrated with the respective characteristics of behavior psychology, social environment, physical environment, and policy environment,so as to maximize the intervention effects. 展开更多

China’s rapidly aging population has raised a number of challenges, such as the accelerating suburbanization,socio-spatial segregation, inconvenient travel of older adults,as well as the deficiency of community senior care, which makes it vital to build a theoretical framework on human settlement for older adults. This study aims to analyze the previous studies and research trends on human settlement for older adults from several aspects, including the spatial distribution, spatial development pattern of human settlement, social space and travel behavior characteristics, living environment, and the relationship between their health status and built environment.Under the guidance of global programs such as“active aging”and“age-friendly cities,”research on human settlement for older adults tends to be multi-disciplinary,integrating the traditional perspective of physical space with logical analysis, obtaining a comprehensive consideration of social, economic, cultural, behavioral, and other socio-spatial perspectives, and forming a relatively complete theory and practice system.Facing the core problems and challenges in the development of human settlement for older adults in China, research needs to be problem-oriented,and devoted to exploring the theoretical framework and practical strategies suitable for our country.Specifically, from the“top-down”perspective,it is recommended to strengthen the strategic guidance, explore patterns of urban senior care by combining market force and government regulation, and optimize urban spatial development patterns and transportation systems for an aging society. From the“bottom-up”perspective,it is necessary to take into account the“equity and efficiency”of urban spatial resource allocation, and explore the theoretical and methodological system for community planning, service facilities, and public space allocation to meet the socio-spatial needs of older adults. 展开更多

The government's attention to and intervention in public health emergencies is one of the causes for the legislation on modern urban planning. It is now a critical period in the legislative formulation of China's territorial and spatial planning, which coincides with the unexpected onslaught of COVID-19.This study examines the relationship between public health emergencies and the legislations of territorial and spatial planning. It argues that the problems of spatial planning in response to public health emergencies primarily lie in the gaps between planning regulations and public health, emergency management, the overdue institutionalization of planning techniques, the lack of focus of planning legislations, etc. The legislation of territorial and spatial planning should be based on the governance of urban safety, health, and emergency service facilities, which aims to improve the emergency service facility system, the innovation of planning formulation technical system, and strengthen the responsiveness of planning to public health emergencies,so as to create high-quality,high-class,and resilient urban and rural spaces. 展开更多

The recent prevalence of property-led urban renewal in Chinese cities has generated problems such as"nail households"1 and the loss of public welfare. This paper begins with the theoretical framework of spatial governance in urban renewal and then discusses the problems of property-led urban renewal. From a perspective of spatial governance,it proposes the framework, process, and policy design for the transition of the urban renewal model characterized by"government leadership and self-renewal of village collectives."By taking an urban village within a large city in south China as a case study, this paper compares the profit distribution among each party between the property-led urban renewal model and the village collectives’self-renewal.It concludes with the significance of this new model for the establishment of a spatial governance system and highquality urban and rural development in China. 展开更多

The basic attributes of urban built environment are important factors affecting mental state of older adults.Observation and perception are expressions of built environment from objective and subjective perspectives, and their comprehensive effects on older adults’ mental health have not yet been explored and verified.Combined with the ecological model of active living, the social-ecological model for health and environmental psychology for health, this paper took Dalian as an example and integrated multi-source spatio-temporal data,to compare and examine the internal influence mechanism of built environment on older adults’ mental health from objective and perceptual perspectives through structural equation model. The model was further validated by excluding the samples of residential self-selection.The study showed that the proximity and aggregation degree of basic service facilities, such as supermarkets, restaurants, and barbershops, affected older adults’ mental health through direct and perceived mediating paths,in which the high degree of aggregation had a negative effect on the mental health of older adults through perceived paths of noise, insecurity, and poor environmental sanitation;the density of walking path and the local integration, depth, and connectivity of vehicle path had limited interventions on mentality dimension of older adults;the diversity of leisure, landscape, and exercise facilities in community positively affected older adults’ mental health through the direct and perceived mediating paths;underground parking in community and lifts in high-rise buildings had a more positive impact on older adults’ mental health than ground parking and stairs in multi-story buildings.Overall, compared with objective built environment, perceived built environment had a mediating effect and played a more significant role in the mental health of older adults. 展开更多

As low and lower-middle social groups account for a great proportion of the total population in China and their status in society is special,it is of great social and practical significance to study their housing conditions and characteristics.Based on research at home and abroad, this paper defines the basic characteristics of low and lower-middle social groups in China, and elaborates the definition and connotation of housing marginalization, thereby proposing that these residents in the Chinese city are facing a problem of housing marginalization.According to data from the fifth and sixth population census and statistical yearbooks of Chengdu,it reveals changes in housing location, housing tenure structure, and housing quality of the study group between 2000 to 2010 by means of spatial and statistical analysis, which indicates that the low and lower-middle social groups are facing the three trends of"living in outskirts,""predicament in tenure selectivity of housing,"and"impoverishment of housing quality."In response to these trends, three planning suggestions are proposed:①to establish"housing policy areas"suitable for the group of residents to reside and work;②to innovate policy measures to support the low and lower-middle social groups to rent and purchase houses within these areas;③to guide the residents to integrate into the community life circle in these areas so as to avoid poverty concentration. 展开更多
