The response of the antioxidant defense system of an intertidal macroalgae Corallina officinalis L.to different dosages of UV-B irradiation was investigated.Results showed that superoxide dimutase (SOD) and peroxidase (POX) increased and then maintained at a relatively stable level when subjected to UV-B irradiation.Catalase (CAT) activity under medium dosage of UV-B irradiation (Muv) and high dosage of UV-B irradiation (Huv) treatments were significantly decreased.Ascorbate peroxidase (APX) activity first remained unaltered and then increased in Huv treatment.In addition,the assay on isozymes was carried out using non-denaturing polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (PAGE).The activities of some SOD isoforms were altered by UV-B.Two new bands (POX V and POX VII) appeared upon exposure to all three UV-B dosages.CAT III activity was increased by low dosage of UV-B irradiation (Luv),whereas CAT III and CAT IV disappeared when the alga was exposed to Muv and Huv.Two bands of APX (APX VI and APX VII) were increased and a new band (APX X) was observed under Huv exposure.H 2 O 2 and thiobarbituric acid reacting substance (TBARS) increased under Muv and Huv treatments.Overall,UV-B protection mechanisms are partly inducible and to a certain extent sufficient to prevent the accumulation of damage in C.officinalis. 展开更多

This paper reported a new analytical method for the simultaneous determination of seven benzotriazole ultraviolet absorbers and seven antibacterial agents in textiles. After ultrasonic extraction for the textile samples in methanol, the solutions were analyzed by ultra-high performance liquid chromotagraphy/orbitrap high resolution mass spectrometry (UPLC/Orbitrap HRMS). It showed that a good chromatographic separation for these target compounds was achieved by a Hypersil GOLD column (100 mm × 2.1 mm × 1.9 μm) with a gradient elution of methanol and 0.1% aqueous formic acid solution (containing 0.5 mmol/L ammonium acetate). Triclosan and 4-chloro-3,5-dimethyl phenol (PCMX) were detected by the orbitrap HRMS in an electrospray ionization (ESI) negative mode while the other twelve target compounds were detected by orbitrap HRMS in ESI positive mode. Full scan experiment was performed over the range from m/z 100 to m/z 500. These target compounds were routinely detected with mass accuracy below 2 × 10-6 (2 ppm) at the optimized conditions. The results showed that the limits of detection (LODs) were in the range from 0.1 to 0.3 μg/kg. The blank samples were spiked at three levels and their average recoveries varied from 80.5% to 96.3% while the relative standard deviation (RSD) changed from 3.2% to 9.9%. The present method was also applied for the determination of those ultraviolet absorbers and antibacterial agents in the commercial textiles. 展开更多

Intertidal macroalgae can cope with the dual effects of UV-B irradiation and allelopathy.To study the impacts of the two stressors,we co-cultured Corallina pilulifera with Sargassum thunbergii in 1:1 and 1:10 ratios under different doses of UV-B radiation.The response of the antioxidant defense system,focusing on activities of superoxide dismutase(SOD),ascorbate peroxidase(APX),peroxidase(POX)and glutathione reductase(GR),was monitored.In addition,isoenzyme patterns were analyzed using nondenaturing poly acry lamide gel electrophoresis.The results show that the activities of SOD,APX,and GR were all significantly affected by both UV-B radiation and allelopathy,and the effect of their interaction was significant.However,POX activity was only influenced by UV-B radiation.The enzymatic assay revealed four distinct bands of SOD.The SODⅢband weakened significantly when the co-cultures were exposed to extremely high dosage of UV-B irradiation under both co-culturing ratios of 1:1 and 1:10.When the coculturing ratio was 1:10,both POXⅡand APXⅡenzy me activities increased with different UV-B doses.GR activity was at its greatest when the co-culture ratio was 1:10 and exposure was to the higher UV-B doses.The activities of GRⅢand GRⅣwere elevated under all UV treatments whereas the activities of GRI and GRII were reduced under the lower UV-B treatments but were elevated under the higher UV-B treatments.However,lipid peroxidation,as indicated by the thiobarbituric acid-reacting substance(TBARS)assay,increased significantly under the dual stressors.Our data sugge st that allelopathy and UV-B radiation stre ss can each affect the antioxidant enzyme activities of C.pilulifera.Critically,the adverse effects of UV-B on C.pilulifera were intensified by the compounding effects of allelopathy. 展开更多

For low-permeability sandstone reservoir with big channel, we researched the novel deep profile method alternative injection of anionic and cationic polymer. Evaluating various factors on adsorption capacity through lab test, the results show that with the increase of temperature, the adsorption capacity decreases and the cationic polymer is easier to be absorbed. With the increase of salinity, adsorption time or polymer concentration, the adsorption capacity increases. The adsorption equilibrium concentration of cationic polymer is 1500 mg/L;adsorption equilibrium time is 8 h. The adsorption equilibrium concentration of anionic polymer is 1000 mg/L;adsorption equilibrium time is 6 h. Physical simulation experiment shows that alternative injection of anionic and cationic polymer is better than injection of single polymer, and preferential injection of cationic polymer is better than preferential injection of anionic polymer. With the increase of injection rounds, sealing capacity gets better, but in view of cost, the rounds should not be more than 3. The profile control technique can obviously enhanced oil recovery, and water displacement recovery increases 41%. 2 wells were tested successfully in Henan Oilfield in June 2010. Approximate 154.47 tons of incremental oil was obtained with 2% water-cut decrease. 展开更多

Background:Organic selenium supplementation during gestation improves the antioxidant status and reproduc-tive performance of sows and increases the antioxidative capacity of the intestines of their offspring.This study was conducted to investigate the effect of maternal basel diet(control)supplemented with an organic Se,2-hydroxy-4-methylselenobutanoic acid(HMSeBA),or inorganic sodium selenite(Na_(2)SeO_(3))during gestation on the antioxidant status and development of muscle in newborn and weaned piglets.Newborn piglets before colostrum intake and weaned piglets were selected for longissimus dorsi(LD)muscle collection and analysis.Results:The results showed that maternal HMSeBA supplementation increased the muscle area and content of Se in the LD muscle of newborn piglets,improved gene expression of selenoproteins,and decreased oxidative status in the LD muscle of both newborn and weaned piglets compared with the control.The expression of muscle development-related genes of newborn piglets in the HMSeBA group was lower than in the control group,whereas the expression of MRF4 in weaned piglets was higher in the HMSeBA group than in the control and Na_(2)SeO_(3)groups.In addition,HMSeBA supplementation decreased the mRNA expressions of myosin heavy chains(MyHC)IIx and MyHC IIb and the percentage of MyHC IIb;increased the expression of PGC-1αin the LD muscle of newborn piglets;increased the gene expression of MyHC IIa;and decreased the protein expression of slow MyHC and the activity of malate dehydrogenase in the LD muscle of weaned piglets compared with the control group.Conclusions:Maternal HMSeBA supplementation during gestation can improve the antioxidative capacity of the muscle of their offspring and promote the maturity of muscle fibres in weaned offspring. 展开更多

High concentrated and heterogeneous distribution of gas hydrates have been identified in the gas hydrate production test region in the Shenhu area,South China Sea.The gas hydrate-bearing sediments with high saturation locate at two ridges of submarine canyon with different thickness and saturations just above the bottom simulating reflection.The crossplots of gamma ray,acoustic impedance(P-impedance)and porosity at four sites show that the sediments can be divided into the upper and lower layers at different depths,indicating different geotechnical reservoir properties.Therefore,the depositional environments and physical properties at two ridges are analyzed and compared to show the different characteristics of hydrate reservoir.High porosity,high P-wave velocity,and coarse grain size indicate better reservoir quality and higher energy depositional environment for gas hydrate at Sites W18 and W19 than those at Sites W11 and W17.Our interpretation is that the base of canyon deposits at Sites W18 and W19 characterized by upward-coarsening units may be turbidity sand layers,thus significantly improving the reservoir quality with increasing gas hydrate saturation.The shelf and slope sliding deposits compose of the fine-grained sediments at Sites W11 and W17.The gas hydrate production test sites were conducted at the ridge of W11 and W17,mainly because of the thicker and larger area of gas hydrate-bearing reservoirs than those at Sites W18 and W19.All the results provide useful insights for assessing reservoir quality in the Shenhu area. 展开更多

Wallerian degeneration occurs after peripheral nerve injury and provides a beneficial microenvironment for nerve regeneration.Our previous study demonstrated that ascorbic acid promotes peripheral nerve regeneration,possibly through promoting Schwann cell proliferation and phagocytosis and enhancing macrophage proliferation,migration,and phagocytosis.Because Schwann cells and macrophages are the main cells involved in Wallerian degeneration,we speculated that ascorbic acid may accelerate this degenerative process.To test this hypothesis,400 mg/kg ascorbic acid was administered intragastrically immediately after sciatic nerve transection,and 200 mg/kg ascorbic acid was then administered intragastrically every day.In addition,rat sciatic nerve explants were treated with 200μM ascorbic acid.Ascorbic acid significantly accelerated the degradation of myelin basic protein-positive myelin and neurofilament 200-positive axons in both the transected nerves and nerve explants.Furthermore,ascorbic acid inhibited myelin-associated glycoprotein expression,increased c-Jun expression in Schwann cells,and increased both the number of macrophages and the amount of myelin fragments in the macrophages.These findings suggest that ascorbic acid accelerates Wallerian degeneration by accelerating the degeneration of axons and myelin in the injured nerve,promoting the dedifferentiation of Schwann cells,and enhancing macrophage recruitment and phagocytosis.The study was approved by the Southern Medical University Animal Care and Use Committee(approval No.SMU-L2015081)on October 15,2015. 展开更多

To achieve the utilization of the abandoned ultrafine ilmenite(-20 μm) produced in the titanium magnetite processing plant in Panzhihua,the superconducting high-gradient magnetic separation(SMS) technology was proposed in this study.After optimizing the conditions of magnetic intensity,feeding and pulsation,an SMS concentrate with TiO_(2) grade of 16.03% and TiO_(2) recovery of 66.39% was obtained through one roughing-one cleaning pre-concentration flowsheet.The specific magnetic force and magnetic force were calculated and analysed to illustrate the pre-concentration mechanism,and the results revealed that the combination of high magnetic field and strong pulsating resulted in the effective preconcentration of the ultrafine ilmenite in the SMS process.In addition,the magnetic force analysis indicated that the high magnetic intensity and high magnetic gradient are the key factors of the SMS technology.Furthermore,the EDS-Mapping detection certified that the ultrafine ilmenite was concentrated from the gangue minerals using SMS technology. 展开更多

The highly ordered Ti O_2nanotubes(NTs) were fabricated by the anodic oxidation method.Their morphology,structure and crystalline phase were characterized by scanning electron microscopy(SEM) and X-ray diffractometer(XRD).The effects of morphology,specific surface area,pore structures and photocatalytic activity of the Ti O_2 NTs were investigated.UV–vis spectra analysis showed that its light absorption had been extended to the visible light range.The photocatalytic activity of the as-prepared samples was evaluated by photocatalytic oxidation of gaseous HCHO and MB aqueous solution.The samples had better adhesion strength in the dark and showed a higher photocatalytic activity than nanoparticles.Especially,with ultraviolet light pretreatment,the nanotubes exhibited more stable active for photocatalytic decomposition and the photodecomposition rate remained at high level after 3 cycles of the photocatalysis experiment.Thus,how the number of surface active group ·OH increased and the mechanism for the great improvement for the photocatalytic activity are discussed. 展开更多

Wallerian degeneration,the progressive disintegration of distal axons and myelin that occurs after peripheral nerve injury,is essential for creating a permissive microenvironment for nerve regeneration,and involves cytoskeletal reconstruction.However,it is unclear whether microtubule dynamics play a role in this process.To address this,we treated cultured sciatic nerve explants,an in vitro model of Wallerian degeneration,with the microtubule-targeting agents paclitaxel and nocodazole.We found that paclitaxel-induced microtubule stabilization promoted axon and myelin degeneration and Schwann cell dedifferentiation,whereas nocodazole-induced microtubule destabilization inhibited these processes.Evaluation of an in vivo model of peripheral nerve injury showed that treatment with paclitaxel or nocodazole accelerated or attenuated axonal regeneration,as well as functional recovery of nerve conduction and target muscle and motor behavior,respectively.These results suggest that microtubule dynamics participate in peripheral nerve regeneration after injury by affecting Wallerian degeneration.This study was approved by the Animal Care and Use Committee of Southern Medical University,China(approval No.SMUL2015081) on October 15,2015. 展开更多

The chlorophyll content has a direct effect on photosynthesis of crops.In order to explore a quick and convenient method for estimating the chlorophyll content of Brassica napus and facilitate efficient crop monitoring,we measured the actual value of chlorophyll with a SPAD-502 chlorophyll detector,and collected aerial images of B.napus with an unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV)carrying a RGB camera in this study.The total number of 270samples collected images were divided into regions according to the planting conditions of different B.napus varieties in the field.Then,according to the empirical formula,there were 36 colors’characteristic parameters calculated and combined.To estimate the chlorophyll content of rape,189 samples were included in the modeling set,while the other 81 samples were enrolled in the validation set for testing the accuracy of this model.After the combination of R(red),G(green)and B(blue)color channels,the results showed that the color characteristics B/(R+G),b,B/G,(G-B)/(G+B),g-b were highly connected with the measured value of chlorophyll SPAD,and the correlation coefficient between the combination based on B/(R+G)and SPAD value was 0.747.With R2=0.805,RMSE=3.343,and RE=6.84%,the regression model created using random forest had superior outcomes,according to the model comparison.This study offers a new method for quickly estimating the amount of chlorophyll in rapeseed and a workable reference for crop monitoring using the UAV platform. 展开更多

[Objectives]This study was conducted to explore the characteristics of soil residual film pollution load in cotton fields in the Yellow River Delta,so as to effectively control soil film pollution.[Methods]Cotton field mulching film survey and residue monitoring were conducted in the Yellow River Delta area.[Results]The amount of mulching film residues in cotton fields in the Yellow River Delta was 37.7-128.7 kg/hm^(2),which had a significant increase compared with 5 years ago,and the differences between plots were large;and after straw was returned to the field,the soil residual film obviously gathered in the 20-30 cm soil layer.The residual film blocks with a size of more than 25 cm^(2) accounted for 62.6%,which was a relatively high proportion,indicating that soil pollution can be caused easily,and it is difficult to control.During a certain period of time,the soil residual film pollution may have a tendency to aggravate,and the ecological risk is higher.[Conclusions]This study has important theoretical and practical significance for improving soil quality in the region and ensuring the safety of cotton field ecosystem and environmental health. 展开更多

Objective: To analyze the effectiveness of different acupuncture-moxibustion therapies for neurodynia and skin lesions of acute herpes zoster. Patients and Methods: From April 2007 to October 2009, 500 patients with clinical acute herpes zoster were included in the study. They were randomly divided into five groups as follow: electroacupuncture (E);electroacupuncture + cottonpave moxibustion (EC);electroacupuncture + fire acupuncture (EF);electroacupuncture + tapping combined with cupping (ET);control group of western medicine (WM). Results: The time of staunch bleb, scab and scab-off had no obvious statistical difference in the five groups;however, five methods could obviously reduce symptoms of herpes zoster and improved general symptoms. Within five days of treatment, compared to control group, the other four methods could more quickly ameliorate the general symptom of herpes zoster, and EF was superior to EC. In addition to electroacupuncture group, the treatment groups could relieve neuralgia and shortened duration of pain, which was superior to control group treatment. In addition, within first 3 days of treatment, the efficacy of treatment with E, EF or ET was superior to that of EC, and EF was better to E. After five days or end-of-treatment, the efficiency of odynolysis by treatment with EF, ETor EC was no more than E. The incidence of neurodynia was reduced after treatment with EC, EF or ET at 30th, 60th and 90th day, and pain of postherpetic neuralgia was relived. Conclusion: It is a certain advantages for organism reparation, abatement of neurodynia, and reduction of postherpetic neuralgia by acupuncture treatment. 展开更多

Magneto-plasmonic sensors based on surface plasmon resonance have been studied considerably in recent years,as they feature high sensitivity and ultrahigh resolution.However,the majority of such investigations focus on prism-based sandwich architectures that not only impede the miniaturization of devices but also have a weak transverse magneto-optical Kerr effect(TMOKE)in magnitude.Herein,we theoretically demonstrate a magneto-plasmonic sensor composed of Au/Co bilayer nanodisk arrays on top of optically thick metallic films,which supports a narrow surface plasmon resonance(SPR)with a bandwidth of 7 nm and allows for refractive index sensitivities as high as 717 nm/RIU.Thanks to the high-quality SPR mode,a Fano-like TMOKE spectrum with a subnanometer bandwidth can be achieved in the proposed structure,thereby giving rise to ultrahigh sensing of merit values as large as 7000 in water.Moreover,we demonstrate a large TMOKE magnitude that exceeds 0.6.The value is 1 order of magnitude larger than that of magneto-plasmonic sensors reported.We also demonstrate that the behavior of TMOKE spectra can be controlled by tuning the geometrical parameters of the device including the diameter and thickness of nanodisk arrays.This work provides a promising route for designing magneto-plasmonic sensors based on metasurfaces or metamaterials. 展开更多

Preparation of porous semi-IPN temperature-sensitive hydrogel-supported nZVI and its application in the reduction of nitrophenol

Nanoscale zero-valent iron(n ZVI) particles supported on a porous, semi-interpenetrating(semi-IPN), temperature-sensitive composite hydrogel(PNIPAm-PHEMA). n ZVI@PNIPAmPHEMA, was successfully synthesized and characterized by FT-IR, SEM, EDS, XRD and the weighing method. The loading of nZVI was 0.1548 ± 0.0015 g/g and the particle size was30–100 nm. NZVI was uniformly dispersed on the pore walls inside the PNIPAm-PHEMA.Because of the well-dispersed n ZVI, the highly porous structure, and the synergistic effect of PNIPAm-PHEMA, nZVI@PNIPAm-PHEMA showed excellent reductive activity and wide p H applicability. 95% of 4-NP in 100 m L of 400 mg/L 4-NP solution with initial p H 3.0–9.0 could be completely reduced into 4-AP by about 0.0548 g of fresh supported n ZVI at 18–25 °C under stirring(110 r/min) within 45 min reaction time. A greater than 99% 4-NP degradation ratio was obtained when the initial p H was 5.0–9.0. The reduction of 4-NP by nZVI@PNIPAm-PHEMA was in agreement with the pseudo-first-order kinetics model with Kobsvalues of 0.0885–0.101 min-1.NZVI@PNIPAm-PHEMA was able to be recycled, and about 85% degradation ratio of 4-NP was obtained after its sixth reuse cycle. According to the temperature sensitivity of PNIPAmPHEMA, n ZVI@PNIPAm-PHEMA exhibited very good storage stability, and about 88.9%degradation ratio of 4-NP was obtained after its storage for 30 days. The hybrid reducer was highly efficient for the reduction of 2-NP, 3-NP, 2-chloro-4-nitrophenol and 2-chloro-4-nitrophenol. Our results suggest that PNIPAm-PHEMA could be a good potential carrier, with n ZVI@PNIPAm-PHEMA having potential value in the application of reductive degradation of nitrophenol pollutants. 展开更多
