BACKGROUND The spread of the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 outbreak worldwide has caused concern regarding the mortality rate caused by the infection. The determinants of mortality on a global scale cannot be fully understood due to lack of information.AIM To identify key factors that may explain the variability in case lethality across countries.METHODS We identified 21 Potential risk factors for coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)case fatality rate for all the countries with available data.We examined univariate relationships of each variable with case fatality rate(CFR),and all independent variables to identify candidate variables for our final multiple model.Multiple regression analysis technique was used to assess the strength of relationship.RESULTS The mean of COVID-19 mortality was 1.52±1.72%.There was a statistically significant inverse correlation between health expenditure, and number of computed tomography scanners per 1 million with CFR,and significant direct correlation was found between literacy, and air pollution with CFR.This final model can predict approximately 97%of the changes in CFR.CONCLUSION The current study recommends some new predictors explaining affect mortality rate. Thus,it could help decision-makers develop health policies to fight COVID-19. 展开更多

Otoacariasis is the presence of ticks and mites in the auditory canal.A 50-year-old Iranian man was subjected at the an ear, nose, and throat clinic at Rouhani Hospital in Babol with complaint of left ear pain.Otoscopic examination showed mite infestation in the left auditory canal. The infestation was eradicated with the 2% H2O2 solution.Treatment began by applying oral ciprofloxacin (500 mg/day) twice daily for 7 d.We report the rare case of an ear canal infestation with the Rhizoglyphus and their eradication with 2% H2O2 solution. 展开更多

Rationale: Stevens-Johnson syndrome is a disorder mostly attributed to drug use, which can cause different skin problems. Patient concerns: A 31-year-old woman presented with severe pain and pounding in the left ear. Diagnosis: Fluconazole-induced Stevens-Johnson syndrome with fungal infection in ear. Intervention: Surgical and systemic antibiotic therapy. Outcomes: The patient recovered and resumed her normal life. Lessons: The prescription of fluconazole for patients with underlying conditions should be done with caution. 展开更多

Reverberation time within studio’s decor is changed because of addition of its surface to the overall surfaces of the studio and also the additional absorption of its materials. It seems reverberation time changes due to studio’s decor is little because surface of the decor is small in comparison with the overall surfaces of the studio and surface has an important role in room constant and therefore in reverberation time. But these changes do not only depend on added surfaces and their absorption. Reverberation time is also dependent on shape of the decor and sometimes. It can decrease the effects of added surfaces which are used to increase the reverberation time. In this paper, a standard television studio is designed and implemented by using ODEON and 12 different decor which their dimensions and materials are similar to the actual ones, are applied inside the studio. Then studio’s decor effects on reverberation time of the studio are computed, compared and analyzed. 展开更多
