Confucian doctors are representative of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)practitioners with excellent moral character and medical knowledge,they are not hidden in the depths of ancient documents but are a guiding inspiration for professional medical personnel today.Confucian doctors are representative group of benevolence in Confucian philosophy and demonstrate the scientific and humanistic spirit of Confucian philosophy and demonstrate the scientific and humanistic spirit of Confucianism in their medical practice.They are also leading medical practitioners who uphold professional ethics in their pursuits of scientific research,clinical diagnosis&treatment,and scholarship.Both TCM and Confucian doctors played important roles during the outbreak of the coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)pandemic in China.By virtue of the superb medical skills of Confucian doctors,integrated Chinese and Western medicine can quickly alleviate patients’symptoms,increase cure rates,reduce mortality rates,thus saving lives.Following the results of extensive clinical trials,this integrated therapy is now understood to be a beneficial treatment for COVID-19.The combination of TCM and Western medicine is a major feature of COVID-19 prevention and control in China.In particular,TCM plays a significant role in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic with its unique advantages. 展开更多

Mechanisms of saffron in treatment of atherosclerosis based on network pharmacology

Objective:To explore the main pathways and possible mechanisms of saffron anti-atherosclerosis(AS)using network pharmacology.Methods:The active ingredients and target proteins of the drug were obtained from the TCMSP database,and the gene names corresponding to the target proteins were queried using the Uniprot database to obtain human targets regulated by saffron.Human targets of AS were obtained from DisGeNET database and previous literature.The target gene of saffron was intersected with the target gene of AS to obtain the target gene of saffron for AS.With the help of Cytoscape 3.7.2 software,a saffron active ingredient-potential target,saffron active ingredient-AS disease target interaction network was constructed,and the core targets of saffron's role in AS disease were screened out through evaluation of network topological characteristics such as degree;The ClueGo plug-in in Cytoscape 3.7.2 software was used to analyze GO biological processes and KEGG metabolic pathways of targets.Results:With the drug-like property≥0.18 as the limiting condition and previous literature search and screening,22 compounds were obtained.A total of 106 saffron-regulated target proteins and 117 AS targets were obtained.The intersections were obtained to obtain 26 saffron targets for AS.According to the degree of drug-candidate component-AS candidate target network,the main effective components of saffron anti-AS were crocetin,isorhamnetin and quercetin.26 gene targets were analyzed by KEGG enrichment using the ClueGo plug-in in Cytoscape 3.7.2 software to obtain pathways related to saffron treatment of AS.Using the KEGG database and consulting previous literature,a schematic diagram of the related pathways of saffron anti-AS was obtained.Conclusion:The anti-AS of saffron may be mainly caused by crocetin,isorhamnetin and quercetin in saffron to exert anti-inflammatory and inhibit angiogenesis effects,thereby achieving anti-AS effect. 展开更多

Objective:To explore the main pathways and possible mechanisms of lonicera Japonica and forsythia in the treatment of COVID-19 using network pharmacology.Methods:The TCMSP database,GeneCards,Uniprot,DAVID and othe1databases and Cytoscape software were used to build an interaction network and analyze GO biological processes and KEGG metabolic pathways.Results:A total of 26 lonicera Japonica-forsythia drugs were used to treat COVID-19,mainly through multiple pathways such as cancer pathway,tuberculosis,influenza A,hepatitis B,TNF signaling pathway and HIF-1 signaling pathway Participate in the treatment of COVID-19.Conclusion:The working mechanism of action of lonicera Japonica-forsythia medicine on the treatment of COVID-19 mainly reflects the regulation of cell apoptosis and gene expression,inhibition of viral replication,bacteriostatic and immunomodulation,etc.,providing relevant theoretical basis for the clinical treatment of COVID-19. 展开更多

The objective of this study was to provide research clues for the prevention and treatment of coronavirus disease-2019(COVID-19)and coronavirus(Co V)infection using Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM).A review on research and clinical trials that using TCM extracts and active ingredients against Co V was performed,and a table of TCM agents and their effects on Co V were summarized.Relevant analysis was performed and visual expression of the data included summarizing the types of TCM and treatment methods for COVID-19.TCM fighting against Co V is mainly used in the lung and heart channels,and its medicinal properties are mainly cold and mild,while its taste is mainly bitter and sweet.The majority of research focused on treatments that clear away heat and toxic materials and those that strengthen body resistance and tonify deficiencies.TCM has unique advantages to fight against Co V.The development of new anti-Co V therapy using TCM is of great significance for the prevention and treatment of COVID-19 pneumonia and various viral infectious diseases. 展开更多
