Objective Oral lichen planus(OLP)is one of the most common oral mucosa diseases, and is mainly mediated by T lymphocytes. The metabolic reprogramming of activated T cells has been shown to transform from oxidative phosphorylation to aerobic glycolysis. The present study investigated the serum levels of glycolysis-related molecules(lactate dehydrogenase,LDH;pyruvic acid,PA;lactic acid,LAC)in OLP,and the correlation with OLP activity was assessed using the reticular, atrophic and erosive lesion(RAE)scoring system. Methods Univariate and multivariate linear regression functions based on scikit-learn were designed to predict the RAE scores in OLP patients, and the performance of these two machine learning functions was compared. Results The results revealed that the serum levels of PA and LAC were upregulated in erosive OLP(EOLP)patients, when compared to healthy volunteers.Furthermore, the LDH and LAC levels were significantly higher in the EOLP group than in the nonerosive OLP(NEOLP)group. All glycolysis-related molecules were positively correlated to the RAE scores.Among these,LAC had a strong correlation. The univariate function that involved the LAC level and the multivariate function that involved all glycolysis-related molecules presented comparable prediction accuracy and stability, but the latter was more time-consuming.Conclusion It can be concluded that the serum LAC level can be a user-friendly biomarker to monitor the OLP activity, based on the univariate function developed in the present study. The intervention of the glycolytic pathway may provide a potential therapeutic strategy. 展开更多

METHODS: Clinical data on 245 patients with CP treated at our hospital from May 1983 to October 2001 were reviewed. RESULTS: Of the 245 patients, 122 suffered from CP for a year (49.8%) and 191 for 5 years (78.0%). The rate of positive diagnosis of B-ultrasound, CT, ERCP, B_2-Ty-Para-aminobenzoic acid (PABA) for CP was 74.2%, 80.7%, 76.5% and 72.8%, respectively. 169 patients (69.0%) received surgical treatment. After the operation, 98.8% of the 169 patients experienced decreased pain with a complication rate of 1.2%. CONCLUSION: Early diagnosis and appropriate operative time and management are of vital importance in improving patients' quality of life and controlling the natural history of the disease. 展开更多

Objective To investigate the clinical characteristics and treatment strategy of lower extremity arterial occlusive disease in patients with Crohn's disease (CD). Methods Clinical information of 9 cases suffering from lower extremity arterial occlusion and CD was investigated retrospectively. Results All the cases were less than 50 years old and the most were females (8/9). Arterial occlusions occurred in either active (5/9) or inactive (4/9) stage of CD. Besides the arteries of lower extremities, other arteries could also be involved such as aorta, iliac artery, renal artery or mesentery artery. Seven cases had atherosclerotic imaging findings (4 had aortic plaques and 6 had iliac artery stenoses). Embolectomy or thromboendarterectomy were mostly performed. Four (44.4%) cases had recurrent lower limb ischemia. Conclusions Arterial occlusive disease is a rare extraintestinal manifestation of CD. A thorough inspection of aorta is necessary. Embolectomy is mostly preferred. Anticoagulation treatment is highly recommended after the operation. 展开更多

Objective: To summarize the experience in the surgi- cal treatment of chronic pancreatitis. Methods: 189 patients with pancreatitis admitted from May 1983 to August 1999 to our hospital were reviewed. Results: 136 (72 %) patients received surgical treat- ment including pancreatoduodenectomy (15 pa- tients), distal pancreatectomy (12), internal drain- age of pancreatic pseudocyst (28), side-to-side pan- creaticojejunostomy (16), relief of biliary stenosis (58), and pancreatic biopsy (7). Pain was relieved in 97.8 % of the patients, and the complication rate was 1.5%. Conclusions: It is crucial to select various surgical strategies at a proper time for chronic pancreatitis patients. Patients with chronic pancreatitis compli- cated by dilation or obstruction of the pancreatic duct or with biliary pancreatitis should be operated on in early stages, whereas those with other types of chronic pancreatitis should receive the therapy focu- sing on the alleviation of their symptoms, not on ear- ly surgical intervention. The timing and modality of surgery are important in improving the life quality of the patients and changing their natural history of the disease. 展开更多

Spin-crossover(SCO)materials with light-induced multistability have potential applications in multi-addressable opto-magnetic memory devices and multiple switches. Here,we reported a three-dimensional Hofmann-type metal-organic framework(MOF)[Fe(bpy){Pt(CN)_(4)}]·coumarin(1·coumarin,bpy=4,4′-bipyridine),which exhibits an incomplete and hysteretic SCO behavior. Most importantly, the light-induced stepped thermal relaxation(LISTR)with obvious magnetic plateau for a hidden intermediate spin state is firstly realized. This hidden spin state is also observed for the first time in the thermal relaxation after light-assisted spin state annealing(LASSA).Meanwhile,an extremely rare bi-directional light-induced excited spin-state trapping(LIESST)with the highest reverse-LIESST temperature is observed. Therefore, five spin states can be captured in 1·coumarin and the tristability can be modulated below 102 K through the excitation-relaxation mechanism.Hence, the light-and temperatureinduced multistability provides a new strategy for developing multistable materials. 展开更多

Background:To evaluate the feasibility of a new surgeon-modified iliac branch device (IBD) technique to maintain pelvic perfusion in the management of common iliac artery (CIA) aneurysm during endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR).Methods:From January 2011 to December 2013,a new surgeon-modified IBD technique was performed in department of vascular surgery of Peking Union Medical College Hospital in five patients treated for CIA aneurysm with or without abdominal aortic aneurysm.A stent-graft limb was initially deployed in vitro, anastomosed with vascular graft, creating a modified IBD reloaded into a larger sheath, with or without a guidewire preloaded into the side branch. The reloaded IBD was then placed in the iliac artery, with a covered stent bridging internal iliac artery and the branch. Finally,a bifurcated stent-graft was deployed, and a limb device was used to connect the main body and IBD.Results:Technical successes were obtained in all patients. The mean follow-up length was 24 months (range:6-38 months). All grafts remained patent without any sign of endoleaks. There were no aneurysm ruptures, deaths,or other complications related to pelvic flow. Conclusions:Using the surgeon-modified IBD to preserve pelvic flow is a feasible endovascular technique and an appealing solution for personalized treatment of CIA aneurysm during EVAR. 展开更多
