The results showed that C. tropicalis exhibited the increased capacity of phenolic compounds degradation after laser irradiation. It could degrade 2600 mg/L phenol and 300 mg/L m-cresol by 5% inoculum concentration, respectively. In the dual-substrate biodegradation system, 0-500 mg/L phenol could accelerate m-cresol biodegradation, and 300 mg/L m-cresol could be completely utilized within 46 hr at the presence of 350 mg/L phenol. Besides, the maximum biodegradation of m-cresol could reach 350 mg/L with 80 mg/L phenol within 61 hr. Obviously, phenol, as a growth substrate, could promote CTM 2 to degrade m-cresol, and was always preferentially utilized as carbon source. Comparatively, low-concentration m-cresol could result in a great inhibition on phenol degradation. In addition, the kinetic behaviors of cell growth and substrate biodegradation were described by kinetic model proposed in our laboratory.展开更多

The crack propagation process of X-70 pipeline steel under low frequency cyclic loading condition was controlled mainly by stress corrosion cracking (SCC) mechanism. Under mixed-mode cyclic loading, both higher tensile stress and shear stress made cracks easier to propagate. Applied cathodic potentials and high content of carbon dioxide in solutions also promoted the propagation of cracks. The propagation directions of cracks were different under different cyclic loading conditions. Under mode I (pure tensile stress) cyclic loading condition, cracks were straight and perpendicular to the tensile stress axis, while under mixed-mode 1/111 (tensile/shear stress) cyclic loading,cracks were sinuous and did not propagate in the direction perpendicular to the main tensile stress axis. Under the mixed-mode cyclic loading, cracks were much easier to propagate, suggesting that shear stress intensified the role of tensile stress. In addition, shear stress promoted the interaction between cracks, resulting in easier coalescence of cracks.展开更多

To date, sCD22 has only been regarded as a tumor marker of B-cell malignancies. Its expression in infectious diseases has not yet been assessed.METHODS: Serum concentrations of sCD22, procalcitonin(PCT) and interleukin-6(IL-6) were measured by enzymelinked immunosorbent assays in patients with intra-abdominal Gram-negative bacterial infection. Receiver operating characteristic curve analysis was performed to evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of these biomarkers in this type of infection. The correlations between biomarkers and the Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation(APACHE) II scores were also analyzed.RESULTS: Concentrations of sCD22 were significantly elevated in patients with sepsis and the elevation is correlated with the severity of sepsis. sCD22 was also slightly elevated in patients with non-infected systemic inflammatory response syndrome or local infection. The diagnostic accuracy of sCD22 for sepsis was equivalent to that of PCT or IL-6. In addition, the correlation of sCD22 with APACHE II scores was stronger than that of PCT or IL-6.CONCLUSIONS: Serum sCD22 is a novel inflammatory mediator released during infection. This soluble biomarker plays a potential role in the diagnosis of Gram-negative bacterial sepsis, with a diagnostic accuracy as efficient as that of PCT or IL-6. Furthermore, sCD22 is more valuable to predict the outcomes in patients with sepsis than PCT or IL-6. Objective:Chemotherapy drugs such as platinum may cause damage to the renal function,creatinine clearance(Ccr),as a "golden standard" indicator in clinical evaluation of renal function,was limited in applica...Objective:Chemotherapy drugs such as platinum may cause damage to the renal function,creatinine clearance(Ccr),as a "golden standard" indicator in clinical evaluation of renal function,was limited in application due to complicated detection steps.By detecting the expression of serum Cystatin C(Cys C),Ccr and urinary micro-albumin(UMA),this study was designed to analyze and discuss their roles and status in renal function evaluation for cancer patients before and after chemotherapy with platinum.Methods:We retrospectively reviewed 110 patients who receiving platinum-containing protocols or non-platinum-containing ones,and got the expression of Cys C,Ccr(was calculated by Cockcroft-Gault equation) and UMA,then analyzed whether there were differences for Cys C,Ccr and UMA in those patients;for patients with mildly impaired renal function(Ccr between 50-75 mL/min),whether there were differences for Cys C and UMA before and after chemotherapy with platinum.Results:There was statistical significance for Ccr,Cys C and UMA in patients who receiving platinum-containing protocols(85.01 ± 28.40) vs(76.79 ± 26.63) mL/min,(1.49 ± 0.50) vs(1.80 ± 0.84) mg/L and(14.30 ± 9.15) vs(16.90 ± 10.95) mg/L,P = 0.00,0.00 and 0.01),and no statistical significance for those receiving non-platinum-containing ones(89.45 ± 29.69) vs(86.78 ± 27.96) mL/min,(1.51 ± 0.78) vs(1.63 ± 0.73)mg/L and(17.31 ± 10.46) vs(16.59 ± 8.33) mg/L,P = 0.45,0.07 and 0.57);and there were also significant differences for Cys C for patients with mildly impaired renal function before and after chemotherapy(1.68 ± 0.55) vs(2.04 ± 0.68) mg/L,P = 0.03),while no statistical significance for UMA for the same ones(21.11 ± 10.06) vs(21.22 ± 8.81) mg/L,P = 0.93).There were statistical significance both for Cys C and UMA before and after chemotherapy in platinum-containing group,but the AUC for Ccr and Cys C is greater than that for UMA(P < 0.02).Conclusion:Cys C and UMA can both access renal dysfunction early after chemotherapy,but Cys C is more sensitive than UMA in reflecting early renal dysfunction,so Cys C can replace Ccr and become a reliable indicator in the assessment of renal function for cancer patients before and after chemotherapy especially with platinum.展开更多

The Co ion implantation was carried out using a metal vapor vacuum arc (Mevva) broad-beam ionsource with an extraction voltage of 40 kV, implantation doses of 3×10^(17)/cm^2 and 5×10^(17)/cm^2, and ion currentdensities of 13, 22 and 32μA/cm^2. The results showed that the near-surface hardness of Co-implanted stainless steelsample was increased by 50% or more, and it increased with increasing ion current density at first and then declined.The friction coefficient decreased from 0.74 to 0.20 after Co implantation. The wear rate after Co implantationreduced by 25% or more as compared to the unimplanted sample. The wear rate initially decreased with increasingion current density and then an increase was observed. Within the range of experimental parameters, there existsa critical ion current density for the Co-implanted stainless steel, at which the wear rate decreased with increasingretained dose, going through a minimum and then increased. In this paper,we propose a temperature-sensing scheme utilizing a passively mode-locked fiber laser combined with the beat frequency demodulation system.The erbium-doped fiber is used in the laser ring cavity to provi...In this paper,we propose a temperature-sensing scheme utilizing a passively mode-locked fiber laser combined with the beat frequency demodulation system.The erbium-doped fiber is used in the laser ring cavity to provide the gain and different lengths of single-mode fibers inserted into the fiber ring cavity operate as the sensing element.Different temperature sensitivities have been acquired in the experiment by monitoring the beat frequency signals at different frequencies.The experimental results indicate that the beat frequency shift has a good linear response to the temperature change.The sensitivity of the proposed sensor is about-44 kHz/℃ when the monitored beat frequency signal is about 10 GHz and the ratio of the sensing fiber to the overall length of the laser cavity is 10 m/17.5 m,while the signal-to-noise ratio(SNR)of the monitored signal is approximately 30 dB.The proposed temperature-sensing scheme enjoys attractive features such as tailorable high sensitivity,good reliability,high SNR,and low cost,and is considered to have great potential in practical sensing applications.展开更多
