In the conventional robust optimization(RO)context,the uncertainty is regarded as residing in a predetermined and fixed uncertainty set.In many applications,however,uncertainties are affected by decisions,making the c...In the conventional robust optimization(RO)context,the uncertainty is regarded as residing in a predetermined and fixed uncertainty set.In many applications,however,uncertainties are affected by decisions,making the current RO framework inapplicable.This paper investigates a class of two-stage RO problems that involve decision-dependent uncertainties.We introduce a class of polyhedral uncertainty sets whose right-hand-side vector has a dependency on the here-and-now decisions and seek to derive the exact optimal wait-and-see decisions for the second-stage problem.A novel iterative algorithm based on the Benders dual decomposition is proposed where advanced optimality cuts and feasibility cuts are designed to incorporate the uncertainty-decision coupling.The computational tractability,robust feasibility and optimality,and convergence performance of the proposed algorithm are guaranteed with theoretical proof.Four motivating application examples that feature the decision-dependent uncertainties are provided.Finally,the proposed solution methodology is verified by conducting case studies on the pre-disaster highway investment problem.展开更多

The produced water from the oilfield was purified with filter material and then injected back into the ground.The serpentine filter material was easy to harden with the increase in filtration amount,which affected the...The produced water from the oilfield was purified with filter material and then injected back into the ground.The serpentine filter material was easy to harden with the increase in filtration amount,which affected the water quality.A superhydrophilic/underwater oleophobic serpentine filter material was successfully prepared by a simple method of coating modification,which exhibited long-lasting filtration of oily water,good filtration and anti-fouling properties,and resistance to harden.The film-forming material of the superhydrophilic/underwater oleophobic coating was composed of SiO_(2) particles with small size,which could completely and evenly cover the filter particle.The weight loss was only 7.6%after mechanical stirring for 90 min.Compared with the original filter material,the superhydrophilic/underwater oleophobic serpentine filter material showed a better anti-fouling ability and resistance to harden.The filtration of crude oil emulsion and oil slick sewage showed a better backwashing performance.After 35 cycles of continuous filtration of suspended solids in wastewater,the backwashing rate reached 78.4%.The results provided an effective method for the filtration of oily wastewater in the oilfield.展开更多
Antibiotic resistance genes comprising antibiotic resistome are of great concern due to their increase in the environment.Recent evidence of shared resistomes between soils and animal husbandry has imposed potential r...Antibiotic resistance genes comprising antibiotic resistome are of great concern due to their increase in the environment.Recent evidence of shared resistomes between soils and animal husbandry has imposed potential risks to human health.However,the correlation between a given community’s resistome and bacterial taxonomic composition is controversial.Here,a transmission chain of resistomes from swine manure to compost and compost-amended soil were analyzed in five suburban areas of Beijing,China,with unamended agricultural soils as control soils.Antibiotic resistomes and bacterial taxonomic compositions were distinct between(I)manure and compost;and(II)compost-amended and control soils.In manure,compost,and compost-amended soils,theβ-diversity of the resistome and bacterial taxonomic composition was significantly correlated,while no correlation was detected in control soils.Bacterial taxonomic composition explained 36.0%of total variations of the resistome composition,much higher than environmental factors.Together,those results demonstrated that antibiotic resistome was closely related to bacterial taxonomic composition along the suburban transmission chain.展开更多
In generalized Nash equilibrium(GNE)seeking problems over physical networks such as power grids,the enforcement of network constraints and time-varying environment may bring high computational costs.Developing online ...In generalized Nash equilibrium(GNE)seeking problems over physical networks such as power grids,the enforcement of network constraints and time-varying environment may bring high computational costs.Developing online algorithms is recognized as a promising method to cope with this challenge,where the task of computing system states is replaced by directly using measured values from the physical network.In this paper,we propose an online distributed algorithm via measurement feedback to track the GNE in a time-varying networked resource sharing market.Regarding that some system states are not measurable and measurement noise always exists,a dynamic state estimator is incorporated based on a Kalman filter,rendering a closed-loop dynamics of measurement-feedback driven online algorithm.We prove that,with a fixed step size,this online algorithm converges to a neighborhood of the GNE in expectation.Numerical simulations validate the theoretical results.展开更多

The popularity of direct current(DC)networks have made their optimal power flow(OPF)problem a hot topic.With the proliferation of distributed generation,the many problems of centralized optimization methods,such as si...The popularity of direct current(DC)networks have made their optimal power flow(OPF)problem a hot topic.With the proliferation of distributed generation,the many problems of centralized optimization methods,such as single point failure and slow response speed,have led to utilization of measures such as distributed OPF methods.The OPF problem is non-convex,which makes it difficult to obtain an optimal solution.The second-order cone programming(SOCP)relaxation method is widely utilized to make the OPF problem convex.It is difficult to guarantee its exactness,especially when line constraints are considered.This paper proposes a penalty based ADMM approach using difference-of-convex programming(DCP)to solve the non-convex OPF problem in a distributed manner.The algorithm is composed of distributed x iteration,z iteration and A,/i iteration.Specifically,in the distributed z iteration,the active power flow injection equation of each line is formulated as a difference of two convex functions,and then the SOCP relaxation is given in a different form.If the SOCP relaxation is inexact,a penalty item is added to drive the solution to be feasible.Then,an optimal solution can be obtained using a local nonlinear programming method.Finally,simulations on a 14-bus system and the IEEE 123-bus system validate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.展开更多
