In this study, laboratory tests were frstly carried out on standard coal specimens with fve diferent water contents (i.e., 0%, 0.6%, 1.08%, 1.5%, 2.0%, and 2.3%). The failure mode, fragment size, and energy distribution characteristics of coal specimens were investigated. Experimental results show that strength, elastic strain energy, dissipated energy, brittleness index, as well as impact energy index decrease with increasing water content. Besides, the failure mode transitions gradually from splitting ejection to tensile-shear mixed failure mode as water content increases, and average fragment size shows positively related to water content. Moreover, scanning electron microscope tests results indicate that water in coal sample mainly causes the mineral softening and defects increase. Furthermore, a numerical model containing roadway excavation was established considering the water on coal burst prevention. Modelling results revealed that water injection can reduce degree of coal burst and ejection velocity of coal blocks, while it will raise up the depth of crack zone and surface displacement of roadway. Combined with laboratory tests and numerical results, the micro mechanism, energy mechanism, and engineering signifcance of water injection on coal burst prevention were fnally analyzed.展开更多

The strategy is designed to remove systemic bias and random error from each individual daily precipitation source to produce a better gridded global daily precipitation product through three steps.First, a cumulative distribution function matching procedure is performed to remove systemic bias over gauge-located land areas. Then, the overall biases in SEs and model predictions(MPs) over ocean areas are corrected using a rescaled strategy based on monthly precipitation. Third, an optimal interpolation(OI)–based merging scheme(referred as the HL-OI scheme)is used to combine unbiased gauge observations, SEs, and MPs to reduce random error from each source and to produce a gauge—satellite–model merged daily precipitation analysis, called BMEP-d(Beijing Climate Center Merged Estimation of Precipitation with daily resolution), with complete global coverage. The BMEP-d data from a four-year period(2011–14) demonstrate the ability of the merging strategy to provide global daily precipitation of substantially improved quality.Benefiting from the advantages of the HL-OI scheme for quantitative error estimates, the better source data can obtain more weights during the merging processes. The BMEP-d data exhibit higher consistency with satellite and gauge source data at middle and low latitudes, and with model source data at high latitudes. Overall, independent validations against GPCP-1DD(GPCP one-degree daily) show that the consistencies between BMEP-d and GPCP-1DD are higher than those of each source dataset in terms of spatial pattern, temporal variability, probability distribution, and statistical precipitation events.展开更多

Two most striking and fundamental characteristics are the amplified near-surface warming at a ratetwice the global average since the mid 20th century (e.g., Blunden and Arndt, 2012; Huang et al., 2017), and the rapiddecline of sea-ice extent at a pace of 12.9% (10 yr)-l and thinning of ice thickness by 40% since 1979 (e.g., Kwok andRothrock, 2009; Meier et al., 2012). In conjunction with these changes, the frequency of occurrence of extreme climate andweather events has ostensibly increased across the Northern Hemisphere mid-latitudes, including adverse cold spells, severeheat waves, destructive floods, and persistent droughts (e.g., Coumou and Rahmstorf, 2012). The fact that Arctic climatechanges have coincided with an increase in the frequency of occurrence of extreme events has inspired broad interest inpossible linkages--not only in the climate community, but also the general public, media agencies, and decision makers--inparticular considering the projected future continuation and acceleration of Arctic warming and sea-ice decline (e.g., Zhangand Walsh, 2006; Zhang, 2010; Stroeve et al., 2012; Wang and Overland, 2012).展开更多

Overall, independent validations against GPCP-1DD(GPCP one-degree daily) show that the consistencies between BMEP-d and GPCP-1DD are higher than those of each source dataset in terms of spatial pattern, temporal variability, probability distribution, and statistical precipitation events.

文摘The dramatic changes in the Arctic climate system during recent decades are one of the most prominent features ofglobal climate change. The fact that Arctic climatechanges have coincided with an increase in the frequency of occurrence of extreme events has inspired broad interest inpossible linkages--not only in the climate community, but also the general public, media agencies, and decision makers--inparticular considering the projected future continuation and acceleration of Arctic warming and sea-ice decline (e.g., Zhangand Walsh, 2006; Zhang, 2010; Stroeve et al., 2012; Wang and Overland, 2012).
文摘Aim:As conflict caused by cultural diversity among patients in China continues to rise, hospitals are in urgent need for improvement of transcultural efficacy among nurses. This study aims to evaluate the transcultural self-efficacy of nurses working in the tertiary general hospital in Guizhou Province,an ethnic minority region in western China, and to identify whether nurses'demographic characteristics affect their transcultural self-efficacy.Method:We used the Chinese version of the Transcultural Self-Efficacy Tool(TSET-CV)to survey 1,190 inservice nurses. Results:Results showed that the level of transcultural self-efficacy of the nurses was generally moderate;few of the nurses had high or low transcultural self-efficacy.The nurses'transcultural self-efficacy was affected by demographic variables, including age, marital status, employment type, income, work experience, and whether or not they were head nurses.Having a stable work environment,a stable marriage,a good educational background, and a high-ranked professional title were associated with increased transcultural self-efficacy.Conclusion:Nursing administrators in hospitals should offer continuing education on transcuitural nursing according to nurses'demographic characteristics and the SEST scores.
