The expected annual costs of loading operation of a coal tipple are ana-lyzed, and the loading of the trains and some factors in the system are studied. Sineethe arrival of the trains is uncertain, 3 probability models , uniform, normal and betadistributions,are used to simulate the arrival of the trains. With the aid of comput-er,the annual costs of the 3 distributions are found to be 103. 99 , 79. 09 and 72. 86million dollars, respectively. The trend is obvious. With the fixed arriving time ofthe standard trains,a plan is made manually. It shows that the cost is only 51. 33million, which is of the minimized value. We also set some principles in analyzingthe problem. They will be useful for some plan of a railroad system.展开更多
