We have performed magnetization measurements and electron spin resonance (ESR) on polycrystalline manganites of Nd0.5Sr0.5xBaxMnO3 (x=0.1). Phase separation and phase transitions are observed from the susceptibility and the ESR spectra data. Between 260 K (~TC ) and 185 K (~TN ),the system coexists of the paramagnetic phase and the ferromagnetic (FM) phase. Between 185 K and 140 K,the system coexists of the FM phase and the antiferromagnetic (AFM) phase. These results indicate that the system has a very complex magnetic state due to the origin of the instability stemming from manganite Nd0.5Sr0.4Ba0.1MnO3 by partially substituting the larger Ba2+ ions for the smaller Sr2+ ions. 展开更多

There is evidence showing that increased levels of oxidative stress and C-reactive protein (CRP) might be associated with obesity, hypertension, atherosclerosis and other cardiovascular diseases. This study was undertaken to investigate possible relationships among plasma 8-iso-prostaglandin F2α (8-iso-PG F2α: an index of oxidative stress), high-sensitivity (hs)-CRP and membrane fluidity (a reciprocal value of microviscosity) in hypertensive and normotensive men using an electron spin resonance (ESR)-method. The order parameter (S) for the spin-label agents (5-nitroxide stearate) of red blood cell (RBC) membranes in the ESR spectra was significantly higher in hypertensive men than in normotensive men, indicating that membrane fluidity was decreased in hypertensive men. Both plasma 8-iso-PG F2α and hs-CRP levels were significantly increased in hypertensive men compared with normotensive men. In addition, plasma plasma 8-iso-PG F2α levels were correlated with plasma hs-CRP levels. In contrast, plasma nitric oxide (NO)-metabolites were lower in hypertensive men than in normotensive men, and inversely correlated with plasma 8-iso-PG F2α and hs-CRP. The order parameter(S) of RBCs was correlated with plasma 8-iso-PG F2α and plasma hs-CRP, and inversely correlated with plasma NO-metabolites, suggesting that reduced membrane fluidity of RBCs might be associated with increased oxidative stress, inflammation and endothelial dysfunction. Multivariate regression analysis also showed that, after adjusting for general risk factors, both plasma 8-iso-PG F2α and hs-CRP were significant determinants of membrane fluidity of RBCs. The ESR suggests that associations of oxidative stress and inflammation might have a close correlation with impaired rheologic behavior of RBCs and microcirculatory dysfunction in hypertensive men. 展开更多

ESR saturation power point elevates sharply after treatment of lung cancer, 71. 43% of total cases ranged from 7. 9 to 24. 0 (mW), after treatment of esophageal cancer, 71. 23% ranged from 7.9 to 19.9 (mW). Hyperhomocysteinemia and oxidative stress may be strongly linked to hypertension, atherosclerosis and other cardiovascular diseases. The present study was performed to investigate possible relationships among plasma total homocysteine, plasma 8-iso-prostaglandin F2α (8-isoPG F2α: an index of oxidative stress), and membrane fluidity (a reciprocal value of membrane microviscosity) in hypertension. We measured the membrane fluidity of red blood cells (RBCs) in hypertensive and normotensive men using an electron spin resonance (ESR) and spin-labeling method. Membrane fluidity of RBCs was significantly decreased in hypertensive men compared with normotensive men. Plasma total homocysteine levels were significantly higher in hypertensive men than in normotensive men, and correlated with plasma 8-isoPG F2α. In contrast, plasma nitric oxide (NO)-metabolites (an index of endothelial function) were lower in hypertensive men than in normotensive men. The reduced membrane fluidity of RBCs was associated with increased total homocysteine and plasma 8-isoPG F2α levels and decreased plasma NO-metabolite levels. Multivariate regression analysis showed that, after adjusting for general risk factors, plasma total homocysteine and 8-isoPG F2α were significant determinants of membrane fluidity of RBCs, respectively. These results suggest that hyperhomocysteinemia and oxidative stress with endothelial dysfunction might have a close correlation with impaired rheologic behavior of RBCs and circulatory disorders in hypertensive men. 展开更多

A phase separatio... The effect of Eu3+ion doping in the La sites of single-crystal La4/3Sr5/3Mn2O7was investigated. Electron spin resonance(ESR) was applied to La4/3Sr5/3Mn2O7and(La0.8Eu0.2)4/3Sr5/3Mn2O7single crystals. A phase separation and phase transitions were observed from the ESR spectra data. Between 350 K and 300 K, both paramagnetic resonance(PMR)and anisotropic ferromagnetic resonance(FMR) lines were observed in the ab plane and the c axis direction, suggesting a coexistence of the paramagnetic(PM) phase and the ferromagnetic(FM) phase. The magnetization measurement reveals a spin-glass-like behavior in single-crystal(La0.8Eu0.2)4/3Sr5/3Mn2O7below the temperature of spin freezing Tf(~ 29.5 K). 展开更多

Owing to the distinctive structural characteristics,vanadium nitride(VN)is highly regarded as a catalyst for oxygen reduction reaction(ORR)in zinc-air batteries(ZABs).However,VN exhibits limited intrinsic ORR activity due to the weak adsorption ability to O-containing species.Here,the S-doped VN anchored on N,S-doped multi-dimensional carbon(S-VN/Co/NS-MC)was constructed using the solvothermal and in-situ doping methods.Incorporating sulfur atoms into VN species alters the electron spin state of vanadium in the S-VN/Co/NS-MC for regulating the adsorption energy of vanadium sites to oxygen molecules.The introduced sulfur atoms polarize the V 3d_(z)^(2) electrons,shifting spin-down electrons closer to the Fermi level in the S-VN/Co/NS-MC.Consequently,the introduction of sulfur atoms into VN species enhances the adsorption energy of vanadium sites for oxygen molecules.The*OOH dissociation transitions from being unspontaneous on the VN surface to a spontaneous state on the S-doped VN surface.Then,the ORR barrier on the S-VN/Co/NS-MC surface is reduced.The S-VN/Co/NS-MC demonstrates a higher half-wave potential and limiting current density compared to the VN/Co/N-MC.The S-VN/Co/NS-MC-based liquid ZABs display a power density of 195.7 m W cm^(-2),a specific capacity of 815.7 m A h g^(-1),and a cycling stability exceeding 250 h.The S-VN/Co/NS-MC-based flexible ZABs are successfully employed to charge both a smart watch and a mobile phone.This approach holds promise for advancing the commercial utilization of VN-based catalysts in ZABs. 展开更多

The results show that in this experimental system,with DMPO mass concentration of 1g/L and the irradiation time of 30 min,the·OH radical can be best captured.Besides,both wavelength and intensity of the irradiation light could effect the generation of·OH radical.These results are of great importance to further study the sterilization effect of·OH radical in confined space. 展开更多

The rate of oxygen consumption and the yield of free radical anion of hematoporphyrin derivative (HPD) in aqueous solutions of HPD and pyrocatechol were measured by the probe 2,2,6,6-tetramethyl4-piperidone-1-oxyl.It has been found that both singlet oxygen and free radical mechanisms exist simultaneously in primary photochemical reactions, and there is a competition between both mechanisms. When the oxygen concentration in solutions comes down to 12-14% of the stanting level, the predominant mechanism can be changed from the singlet oxygen to the free radical.Whether HPD exists in aggregation state is very important to photosensitization mechanisms.In the presence of the aggregation state of HPD, the predominant mechanism is the free radical,and photosensitization effects of HPD are all the better. 展开更多

We report a new design of microwave source for X-band electron paramagnetic resonance spectrometer.The microwave source is equipped with a digital automatic frequency control circuit.The parameters of the digital automatic frequency control circuit can be flexibly configured for different experimental conditions,such as the input powers or the quality factors of the resonator.The configurability makes the microwave source universally compatible and greatly extends its application.To demonstrate the ability of adapting to various experimental conditions,the microwave source is tested by varying the input powers and the quality factors of the resonator.A satisfactory phase noise as low as-135 d Bc/Hz at 100-k Hz offset from the center frequency is achieved,due to the use of a phase-locked dielectric resonator oscillator and a direct digital synthesizer.Continuous-wave electron paramagnetic resonance experiments are conducted to examine the performance of the microwave source.The outstanding performance shows a prospect of wide applications of the microwave source in numerous fields of science. 展开更多

In general,as the radio frequency(RF)power increases in a capacitively coupled plasma(CCP),the power transfer efficiency decreases because the resistance of the CCP decreases.In this work,a parallel resonance circuit is applied to improve the power transfer efficiency at high RF power,and the effect of the parallel resonance on the electron energy distribution function(EEDF)is investigated in a 60 MHz CCP.The CCP consists of a power feed line,the electrodes,and plasma.The reactance of the CCP is positive at 60 MHz and acts like an inductive load.A vacuum variable capacitor(VVC)is connected in parallel with the inductive load,and then the parallel resonance between the VVC and the inductive load can be achieved.As the capacitance of the VVC approaches the parallel resonance condition,the equivalent resistance of the parallel circuit is considerably larger than that without the VVC,and the current flowing through the matching network is greatly reduced.Therefore,the power transfer efficiency of the discharge is improved from 76%,70%,and 68%to 81%,77%,and 76%at RF powers of 100 W,150 W,and 200 W,respectively.At parallel resonance conditions,the electron heating in bulk plasma is enhanced,which cannot be achieved without the VVC even at the higher RF powers.This enhancement of electron heating results in the evolution of the shape of the EEDF from a biMaxwellian distribution to a distribution with the smaller temperature difference between high-energy electrons and low-energy electrons.Due to the parallel resonance effect,the electron density increases by approximately 4%,18%,and 21%at RF powers of 100 W,150 W,and 200 W,respectively. 展开更多

The geometrization process of physics could involve, in addition to space and time in General Relativity (GR), even elementary particles. Our starting point is the formulation of an original hypothesis about particles, compatible with the basic assumptions of the Standard Model (SM): a massive particle is a geometric structure of a set of elastically coupled quantum oscillators that propagates along a line of a non-massive base field (in impulse eigenstate). We show that the propagation equation of an oscillation associated with the geometric shape representing an electron propagates following Dirac’s wave equation. Thus, one gives a foundation to a geometric model of massive particles (GMP) which would explain the physical origin of the mass, spin, and the magnetic moment of the electron. 展开更多

We have studied the spin-dependent electron transmission through a quantum well driven by both dipole-type and homogeneous oscillating fields. The numerical evaluations show that Dresselhaus spin-orbit coupling induces the splitting of asymmetric Fano-type resonance peaks in the conductivity,in which the dipole modulation and the homogeneous modulation are equivalent. Therefore,we predict that the dipole-type oscillation,which is more practical in the experimental setup,can be used to realize the tunable spin filters by adjusting the field oscillation-frequency and the amplitude as well. 展开更多

Magnetic properties of single-crystalline preferential {001}-oriented Bi2Fe4O9nanosheets with thickness of about 13 nm, synthesized via a facile hydrothermal method, have been investigated through variable temperature electron spin resonance measurement. A typical ferromagnetic state could be appeared in the measured temperature from 110 K to 300 K and the origin would be contributed to uncompensated surface spin due to its large surface-to-volume ratio and/or a few non-detectable impurities with strong magnetism. Interestingly, another weak ferromagnetic state could present below the temperature about 250 K, indicative of Neel temperature (TN) of antiferromagnetic state, which is slightly lower than that of bulksample of 265 K. 展开更多

Site-directed spin-labeling with continuous wave electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy was used to monitor autoproteolysis of HIV-1 protease, an enzyme essential for viral maturation. Two protein constructs were examined, namely subtype F and the circulating recombinant form CRF01_A/E. As the protease undergoes self-cleavage, protein unfolds and small peptide fragments containing the spin label are generated, which collectively give rise to a sharp spectral component that is easily discernable in the high-field resonance line in the EPR spectrum. By monitoring the intensity of this spectral component over time, the autoproteolytic stability of each construct was characterized under various conditions. Data were collected for samples stored at 4 °C, 25 °C, and 37 °C, and on a subtype F HIV-1 protease sample stored at 25 °C and containing the FDA-approved protease inhibitor Tipranavir. As expected, the rate of autoproteolysis decreased as the storage temperature was lowered. Minimal autoproteolysis was seen for the sample that contained Tipranavir, providing direction for future spectroscopic studies of active protease samples. When compared to standard methods of monitoring protein degradation such as gel electrophoresis or chromatographic analyses, spin-labeling with CW EPR offers a facile, real-time, non-consuming way to monitor autoproteolysis or protein degradation. Additionally, mass spectrometry studies revealed that the N-termini of both constructs are sensitive to degradation and that the sites of specific autoproteolysis vary. 展开更多
