The conditions of ZnO-Al2O3 aqueous suspensions and slip casting were optimized to obtain dense green compacts and further to obtain high density ZnO-Al2O3 ceramic composites.The Zeta potential of raw powders was measured.ZnO and Al2O3 powders have lower Zeta potential than-45 mV commonly at pH 8-10.3 with polyacrylic acid(PAA)added.The influence of pH and the mass fraction of the additives on the stability and fluidity of the suspensions added with PAA and polyethylene glycol(PEG) was investigated by experiments of viscosity and sedimentation.The suspensions have the lowest viscosity and the best stability at pH 9 with 0.2%PAA(mass fraction).The maximum density of green compacts is 66.6%of theoretical density(TD)with compacting and homogeneous green particles.An ultrahigh density sintered compact(>99.6%TD)could be obtained after pressureless sintering at 1 400℃for 2 h. 展开更多

ZrO2-mullite nano-ceramics were fabricated by in-situ controlled crystallizing from SiO2-Al2O3-ZrO2 amorphous bulk. The thermal transformation sequences of the SiO2-Al2O3-ZrO2 amorphous bulk were investigated by X-ray diffraction, infrared spectrum, scanning electron microscope and differential scanning calorimetric. And the mechanical properties of the nano-ceramics were studied. The results show that the bulks are still in amorphous state at 900 ℃ and the t-ZrO2 forms at about 950 ℃ with a faint spinel-like phase which changes into mullite on further heating. ZrO2 and mullite become major phases at 1 100 ℃ and an amount of m-ZrO2 occur at the same time. The sample heated at 950 ℃ for 2 h and then at 1 100 ℃ for 1 h shows very dense and homogenous microstructure with ball-like grains in size of 20-50 nm. With the increase of crystallization temperature up to 1 350 ℃, the grains grow quickly and some grow into lath-shaped grains with major diameter of 5 μm. After two-step treatment the highest micro-hardness, flexural strength and fracture toughness of the samples are 13.72 GPa, 520 MPa and 5.13 MPa·m1/2, respectively. 展开更多

The bonding of β″-Al2O3 and pyrex glass to A1 matrix composites by anodic bonding process is achieved. The microstructure of the bonded interface and the joining mechanisms are analyzed with scanning electron microscope (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence spectrometer (EDX). It is observed that the bonding region across the interface consists of the metal layer, oxide transitional layer and the ceramic layer, with the transitional layer composed of surface region and sub-surface region. The bonding process can mainly be categorized into anodic bonding process and solid state diffusing process. The pile-up of the ions and its drift in the interface area are the main reasons for anode oxidation and joining of the interface. The temperature, voltage and the drift ions in the ceramic or glass during the bonding process are the essential conditions to solid state diffusing and oxide bonding at the interface. The voltages, temperature, pressure as well as the surface state are the main factors that influence the anodic bonding. 展开更多

SiO2-Al2O3-ZrO2 glasses with different nucleating agents were crystallized under special processing schedule. The microstructure and mechanical properties of the glass-ceramics in SiO2-Al2O3-ZrO2 system were investigated by differential scanning calorimetry, scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction and three-point bending method. The results show that ZrO2 is not an effective nucleating agent in SiO2-Al2O3-ZrO2 system, while TiO2 is effective for the separation of spinel, and P2O5 facilitates solubility of ZrO2 in glass and crystallization. The main crystalline phases of the glass-ceramics are spinel, anorthite and tetragonal zirconia. With the increase of ZrO2 content in the glass, glass-ceramics show higher bending strength (120MPa) than others. 展开更多

Al2O3-13%TiO2 (mass fraction) coatings, prepared by laser cladding on nickel-based alloy, were heated using high frequency induction sources. The coating microstructure and the interface between bond coating and ceramic coating were characterized by SEM, XRD and EDS. The results show that two-layer substructure exists in the ceramic coating: one layer evolving from fully melted region where the sintered grains grow fully; another layer resembling the liquid-phase-sintered structure consisting of three-dimensional net where the melted Al2O3 particles are embedded in the TiO2-rich matrix. The mechanism of the two-layer substructure formation is also explained in terms of the melting and flattening behavior of the powders during laser cladding processing. The spinel compounds NiAl2O4 and acicular compounds Cr2O3 are discovered in the interface between bond coating and ceramic coating. It proves that the chemical reactions in the laser cladding process will significantly enhance the coating adhesion. 展开更多

The dielectric properties and phase transition characteristics of La2O3- and Sb2O3-doped barium strontium titanate ceramics prepared by solid state route were investigated. The microstructure was identified by X-ray diffraction method and scanning electron microscope was also employed to observe the surface morphologies. It is found that (La,Sb)-codoped barium strontium titanate ceramics exhibit typical perovskite structure and the average grain size decreases dramatically with increasing the content of Sb2O3. Both La3+ ions and Sb3+ ions occupy the A-sites in perovskite lattice. The dielectric constant and dielectric loss of barium strontium titanate based ceramics are obviously influenced by La2O3 as well as Sb2O3 addition content. The tetragonal-cubic phase transition of La2O3 modified barium strontium titanate ceramics is of second order and the Curie temperature shifts to lower value with increasing the La2O3 doping content. The phase transition of (La,Sb)-codoped barium strontium titanate ceramics diffuses and the deviation from Curie-Weiss law becomes more obvious with the increase in Sb2O3 concentration. The temperature corresponding to the dielectric constant maximum of (La,Sb)-codoped barium strontium titanate ceramics decreases with increasing the Sb2O3 content, which is attributed to the replacement of host ions by the Sb3+ ions. 展开更多

This paper reports that polycrystalline (α-Al2O3:C ceramics are fabricated by conventional ceramics process. The excitation, emission spectra, thermoluminescence (TL) and optical stimulated luminescence (OSL) of α-Al2O3:C polycrystalline ceramics are investigated. There exists 410nm maximum emission peak which is caused by recombination of an electron with F+ centre to produce an excited F centre. The samples show three clear TL glow peaks at 405, 493 and 610 K. The attenuation constant of exponentially decaying fast component (τ1) and slow component(τ2) of OSL curve are 8.43s and 41.73s, respectively. Those fluorescence and thermoluminescence characteristics are similar with α-Al2O3:C crystal. 展开更多

采用高纯Ga作为辅助电极,通过考察取样量、放电参数对基体信号强度、信号稳定性、基体和Ga的信号比值的影响,建立了直流辉光放电质谱法(dc-GDMS)测定高纯α-Al_(2)O_(3)颗粒中的Li、Be、Na、Mg等16种杂质元素含量的分析方法。当选取3颗2... 采用高纯Ga作为辅助电极,通过考察取样量、放电参数对基体信号强度、信号稳定性、基体和Ga的信号比值的影响,建立了直流辉光放电质谱法(dc-GDMS)测定高纯α-Al_(2)O_(3)颗粒中的Li、Be、Na、Mg等16种杂质元素含量的分析方法。当选取3颗2 mm左右大小的α-Al_(2)O_(3)颗粒用Ga包裹,在1.6 mA/950 V的放电参数下,基体27 Al信号稳定,强度为3.2×10^(8) cps,Al、Ga的信号比约为1∶270。采用实验方法对α-Al_(2)O_(3)颗粒独立测定5次,相对标准偏差均在30%以内。为了验证Ga对α-Al_(2)O_(3)颗粒测定结果的影响,分别采用电感耦合等离子体发射光谱法(ICP-OES)和dc-GDMS法对易于消解的γ-Al_(2)O_(3)粉进行测定。对于dc-GDMS法,选择压在Ga上的γ-Al_(2)O_(3)粉直径约为4~5 mm,在同样的放电参数下,27 Al的信号强度为3.0×10^(9) cps,Al、Ga的信号比约为1∶29。γ-Al_(2)O_(3)粉的GDMS测定结果和ICP-OES基本一致。采用Ga作辅助电极测定α-Al_(2)O_(3)颗粒和γ-Al_(2)O_(3)粉的检出限均可达ng/g。 展开更多

Relationship between K2O-Al2O3-SiO2 system dental glass ceramics and Al2O3 ceramics was investigated. 4 groups of glass ceramic with the same components but different thickness(0.8, 1.2, 1.6, and 2.0 mm) were sintered on Al2O3 base ceramics according to the same thermal treatment system of leucite micro-crystallization reported in previous literatures. The products of each group were analyzed by polarizing microscope, X-ray diffractometer, and an INSTRON material testing machine. Under the thermal treatment system, leucite crystals were formed in samples of each group, and dispersed evenly. Meanwhile, the compressive strengths of group 3 and group 4 were higher than those of group 1 and group 2. Samples of group 3 showed better mechanical properties than others. The conclusions are drawn that Leucite crystals can be controlled in K2O-Al2O3-SiO2 system glass ceramic-Al2O3 ceramic composite material, and the thickness of glass ceramic has a notable influence on the compressive strength of this ceramic composite material. 展开更多

In this study,Ag/γ-Al_(2)O_(3)catalysts were synthesized by an Ar dielectric barrier discharge plasma using silver nitrate as the Ag source andγ-alumina(γ-Al_(2)O_(3))as the support.It is revealed that plasma can reduce silver ions to generate crystalline silver nanoparticles(Ag NPs)of good dispersion and uniformity on the alumina surface,leading to the formation of Ag/γ-Al_(2)O_(3)catalysts in a green manner without traditional chemical reductants.Ag/γ-Al_(2)O_(3)exhibited good catalytic activity and stability in CO oxidation reactions,and the activity increased with increase in the Ag content.For catalysts with more than 2 wt%Ag,100%CO conversion can be achieved at 300°C.The catalytic activity of the Ag/γ-Al_(2)O_(3)catalysts is also closely related to the size of theγ-alumina,where Ag/nano-γ-Al_(2)O_(3)catalysts demonstrate better performance than Ag/micro-γ-Al_(2)O_(3)catalysts with the same Ag content.In addition,the catalytic properties of plasma-generated Ag/nano-γ-Al_(2)O_(3)(Ag/γ-Al_(2)O_(3)-P)catalysts were compared with those of Ag/nano-γ-Al_(2)O_(3)catalysts prepared by the traditional calcination approach(Ag/γ-Al_(2)O_(3)-C),with the plasma-generated samples demonstrating better overall performance.This simple,rapid and green plasma process is considered to be applicable for the synthesis of diverse noble metal-based catalysts. 展开更多

采用熔融法制备了不同Na_(2)O含量的透明锂铝硅微晶玻璃,通过DSC、XRD、FESEM等测试方法研究了不同Na_(2)O含量对玻璃析晶及性能的影响。结果表明:Na_(2)O的引入能显著降低玻璃的转变温度和析晶温度,抑制LiAlSi_(4)O_(10)晶相的析出。但... 采用熔融法制备了不同Na_(2)O含量的透明锂铝硅微晶玻璃,通过DSC、XRD、FESEM等测试方法研究了不同Na_(2)O含量对玻璃析晶及性能的影响。结果表明:Na_(2)O的引入能显著降低玻璃的转变温度和析晶温度,抑制LiAlSi_(4)O_(10)晶相的析出。但Na_(2)O的引入促使微晶玻璃中析出Li_(2)Si_(2)O_(5)新相,并且随着Na_(2)O引入量的增加,Li_(2)Si_(2)O_(5)转变为主晶相。由于晶体尺寸均为纳米级,主晶相的转变对透过率影响较小,微晶玻璃的可见光透过率均高于85%。主晶相的转变有效增强了微晶玻璃的机械性能,其弯曲强度由300 MPa提升至331 MPa。Na_(2)O的引入有效增强了Na-K交换,Na_(2)O含量为4%(质量分数)的Li 2O-Al_(2)O_(3)-SiO_(2)微晶玻璃在410℃的KNO_(3)熔盐中交换6 h后,维氏硬度由7.108 GPa提升至7.403 GPa,弯曲强度由331 MPa提升至470 MPa。 展开更多

Polycrystalline 3Y-TZP/Al2O3 tetragonal zirconia fiber was obtained by the pyrolysis of gel fibers using zirconium oxychloride octahydrate(ZOC) as the raw material. The spinnable zirconia sol was prepared by electrolyzing the zirco-nium oxychloride octahydrate(ZOC) solution in the presence of acetic acid and sugar( sucrose, glucrose or fructose) , in which the molar ratios of CH3 COOH/ZOC and sugar/ZOC were 1.0-4.0 and 0.2-0.4, respectively. The pre- pared tetragonal zireonia fibers sintered at different temperatures showed smooth and crack-free surfaces with diame, ters of 5-10 μm. The addition of Al2O3 enhanced the sintering process and prevented the crystals from growing. Thermogravimetric analysis(TG), X-ray diffraction ( XRD ), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR), and scanning electron microscope(SEM) techniques were used to characterize the prepared fibers. 展开更多

With increasing holding time during sintering, much less pores and larger grains were found in the sintered alumina samples. Higher transmittance was achieved in alumina codoped with MgO and La2O3 as compared with that doped with MgO only. The effect of TiC and Al2O3 starting particle size on the mechanical properties of the composites was discussed. Indentation-quench test was conducted to evaluate the effect of thermal fatigue temperature difference (ΔT) and number of thermal cycles (Ⅳ) on fatigue crack growth (Δa). The mechanical properties and thermal fatigue resistance of TiC/Al203 composites are remarkably improved by the addition of TiC. The thermal shock fatigue of monolithic alumina and TiC/Al2O3 composites is due to a "true" cycling effect (thermal fatigue). Crack deflection and bridging are the predominant reasons for the improvement of thermal shock fatigue resistance of the composites. 展开更多

The effects of Al2O3 addition on both the sintering behavior and microwave dielectric properties of PbO-B203-SiO2 glass ceramics were investigated by Fourier transform infrared spectroscope (FTIR), differential thermal analysis (DTA), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The results show that with the increase of Al2O3 content the bands assigned to [SiO4] nearly disappear. Aluminum replaces silicon in the glass network, which is helpful for the formation of boron-oxygen rings. The increase of the transition temperature Tg and softening temperature Tf of PbO-B2O3-SiO2 glass ceramics leads to the increase of liquid phase precipitation temperature and promotes the structure stability in the glasses, and consequently contributes to the decreasing trend of crystallization. Densification and dielectric constants increase with the increase of Al2O3 content, but the dielectric loss is worsened. By contrast, the 3% (mass fraction) Al2O3-doped glass ceramics sintered at 725℃ have better properties of density p=2.72 g/cm3, dielectric constant Er=6.78, dielectric loss tan8=2.6×10^-3 (measured at 9.8 GHz), which suggest that the glass ceramics can be applied in multilayer microwave devices requiring low sintering temperatures. 展开更多

CaO-B203-SiO2 (CBS) glass powders are prepared by conventional glass melting method at different melting temperatures whose properties and microstructures are characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). It is found that there are SiO2 and some unknown phases in CBS glass melting liquid from 1 300 ℃ to 1 500 ℃ and the amount of these phases decreases with the increase of the melting temperature. The CBS glass melted at 1 450 ℃ could be sintered from 830 ℃ to 930 ℃ and the bulk densities of the samples are all higher than 2.4 g/cm^3. From the points of the properties and energy conservation, the melting temperature of 1 450 ℃ is the optimal melting temperature. The glass ceramic sintered at 850 ℃ exhibits better dielectric properties: er=6.33, tan6=2.2×10^-3 at 10 GHz, and the major phases of the samples are CaSiO3, CaB2O4 and SiO2. 展开更多

The Al2O3 abrasion-resistant ceramics is successfully prepared by using waste aluminum sludge as the main raw material with the addition of a little clay, talc and barium carbonate. The crystal structure and microstructure of ceramic are characterized by means of XRD, SEM, etc., and the physical and mechanical properties are also tested. The results show that besides the phase of corundum, a little mullite, Mg-Al spinel and hyalophane phases also exist in the product. These phases are produced via reaction in-situ, which can inhibit the overgrowth of Al2O3 grain in grain boundary, and improve the integral property of the material. 展开更多
