However, the signal transduction pathways and target proteins involved remain unclear. In the present study, rat models of chronic restraint stress were used to explore the mechanism by which electroacupuncture alleviates depression. Rats were randomly divided into control, model, and electroacupuncture groups. Chronic restraint stress was induced in the model and electroacupuncture groups by restraining rats for 28 days. In the electroacupuncture group, electroacupuncture pretreatment at Baihui(GV20) and Yintang(GV29) acupoints was performed daily(1 m A, 2 Hz, discontinuous wave, 20 minutes) prior to restraint for 28 days. Open field tests and body weight measurements were carried out to evaluate the depressive symptoms at specific time points. On day 28, the crossing number, rearing number, and body weights of the model group were significantly lower than those in the control group. Behavior test results indicated that rat models of depressive-like symptoms were successfully established by chronic restraint stress combined with solitary raising. On day 28, an isobaric tag for a relative and absolute quantitation-based quantitative proteomic approach was performed to identify differentially expressed proteins in hippocampal samples obtained from the model and electroacupuncture groups. The potential function of these differential proteins was predicted through the use of the Cluster of Orthologous Groups of proteins(COG) database. Twenty-seven differential proteins(uncharacteristic proteins expected) were selected from the model and electroacupuncture groups. In addition to unknown protein functions, COG are mainly concentrated in general prediction function, mechanism of signal transduction, amino acid transport and metabolism groups. This suggests that electroacupuncture improved depressive-like symptoms by regulating differential proteins, and most of these related proteins exist in nerve cells.展开更多

Methods- The randomized controlled trials (RCTs) about the treatment for CP/CPPS all o...Objective:To evaluate the efficacy and safety of the treatment of chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CP/CPPS). Methods- The randomized controlled trials (RCTs) about the treatment for CP/CPPS all over the world were searched. MEDLINE (January 1966 to June 2007), EMBASE (January 1988 to June 2007), and 4 Chinese databases were electronically searched. The studies included in the refer- ences of eligible studies were additionally searched. Two reviewers independently screened the studies for eli- gibility, evaluated the quality and extracted the data from the eligible studies, with confirmation by cross- checking. Divergences of opinion were settled by discussion or consulted by the experts. Meta-analysis was performed by using RevMan 4.2 software. Results: Twelve original studies involving 1 003 participants met inclusion criteria. Compared with placebo, alpha-blockers could improve the symptoms of CP/CPPS obvious- ly with WMD of NIH-CPSI, total score and pain score were -4.10 (95%CI: -6. 92 to -1.28) and -1.68 (95 %CI: -2.54 to -0. 82). Antibiotics could not improve the symptoms obviously with WMD of NIH-CP- SI; total score and pain score were -2.71 (95%CI: -4. 78 to -0. 64) and -0.86 (95%CI: -2.07 to 0.36). Flavoxate could not improve the NIH-CPSI total score obviously, but could relieve the pain, with WMD of NIH-CPSI total score and pain score being -2.96 (95%CI: -5.17 to -0. 74) and --2.31 (95%CI.. -4.05 to 0.03). Prostat could improve the NIH-CPSI total score obviously, but could not relieve the pain, with WMD of NIH-CPSI total score and pain score being --7. 60 (95%CI.. -9. 97 to -5.23) and -2. 02 (95%CI: -4.07 to 0. 04). Conclusion: Drug intervention could improve total symptoms of CP/CPPS in some degree, but no universally effective treatment is available that can prove significant lasting benefit for all the symptoms of CP/CPPS. There are many documented sex differences in the clinical course,symptom expression profile,and treatment response of Parkinson’s disease,creating additional challenges for patient management.Although subthalamic nuc...There are many documented sex differences in the clinical course,symptom expression profile,and treatment response of Parkinson’s disease,creating additional challenges for patient management.Although subthalamic nucleus deep brain stimulation is an established therapy for Parkinson’s disease,the effects of sex on treatment outcome are still unclear.The aim of this retrospective observational study,was to examine sex differences in motor symptoms,nonmotor symptoms,and quality of life after subthalamic nucleus deep brain stimulation.Outcome measures were evaluated at 1 and 12 months post-operation in 90 patients with Parkinson’s disease undergoing subthalamic nucleus deep brain stimulation aged 63.00±8.01 years(55 men and 35 women).Outcomes of clinical evaluations were compared between sexes via a Student’s t-test and within sex via a paired-sample t-test,and generalized linear models were established to identify factors associated with treatment efficacy and intensity for each sex.We found that subthalamic nucleus deep brain stimulation could improve motor symptoms in men but not women in the on-medication condition at 1 and 12 months post-operation.Restless legs syndrome was alleviated to a greater extent in men than in women.Women demonstrated poorer quality of life at baseline and achieved less improvement of quality of life than men after subthalamic nucleus deep brain stimulation.Furthermore,Hoehn-Yahr stage was positively correlated with the treatment response in men,while levodopa equivalent dose at 12 months post-operation was negatively correlated with motor improvement in women.In conclusion,women received less benefit from subthalamic nucleus deep brain stimulation than men in terms of motor symptoms,non-motor symptoms,and quality of life.We found sex-specific factors,i.e.,Hoehn-Yahr stage and levodopa equivalent dose,that were related to motor improvements.These findings may help to guide subthalamic nucleus deep brain stimulation patient selection,prognosis,and stimulation programming for optimal therapeutic efficacy in Parkinson’s disease.展开更多
The purposes of this systematic review and meta-analysis of peer-reviewed literature were to examine the chronic effects of resistance training with blood flow restriction(RT-BFR)on hemodynamics,and to compare these a...The purposes of this systematic review and meta-analysis of peer-reviewed literature were to examine the chronic effects of resistance training with blood flow restriction(RT-BFR)on hemodynamics,and to compare these adaptations to those induced by traditional resistance training(TRT)programs in adults(PROSPERO:Registry:CRD42022339510).A literature search was conducted across PubMed,Sports Discus,Scielo,and Web of Science databases.Two independent reviewers extracted study characteristics and blood pressure measures.Risk of bias(The Cochrane risk of bias tool for randomized controlled trials[RoB-2]),and the certainty of the evidence(Grading of Recommendations,Assessment,Development,and Evaluation[GRADE])were used.A total of eight studies met the inclusion criteria for systolic(SBP),diastolic(DBP),and mean arterial pressure(MAP).Regarding the comparison of RT-BFR vs.non-exercise,no significant differences favoring the exercise group were observed(p>0.05).However,when compared to TRT,RT-BFR elicited additional improvements on DBP(-3.35;95%CI-6.00 to-0.71;I^(2)=14%;z=-2.48,p=0.01),and on MAP(-3.96;95%CI-7.94 to 0.02;I^(2)=43%;z=-1.95,p=0.05).Results indicate that RT-BFR may elicit a decrease in DBP in comparison with TRT,but the lack of data addressing this topic makes any conclusion speculative.Future research on this topic is warranted.展开更多

After 10 days of treatment with Dipyridamole lOOtng tid, fi-TG, /?-TG / PF4 and PF4 decreased significantly compared with pretreatment values (/><0.01 and 0.05, respectively). The results suggest that in vivo platelet activation is indeed present in patients with CPHD and that dipyridamole can antagonize platelet activation in vivo.展开更多
