In recent years, the World Health Organization has proposed the concept that only intes‐tinal health can lead to longevity. It can be seen that gut microbiota plays an important role in maintaining human health, and gut microbiota has become a hot topic in medical research. With the change of Chinese residents'lifestyle, the incidence rate of diabetes is increasing rapidly.Research shows that the incidence of diabetes is closely related to intestinal flora imbalance.Traditional Chinese medicine can reduce blood sugar and improve clinical symptoms by regulating intestinal flora.Based on the theory of tradi‐tional Chinese medicine, this paper discusses the etiology and pathogenesis of intestinal flora imbalance, and provides a theoretical basis for traditional Chinese medicine to regu‐late intestinal flora to prevent and treat diabetes.Intestinal flora is a complex ecosystem, which plays an important role in maintaining human health. The imbalance of intestinal flora may lead to the occurrence of diabetes. The dynamic balance of gut microbiota is closely related to the kidneys, spleen, liver, and lungs.Traditional Chinese medicine monomer and compound can prevent and cure diabetes by regulating intestinal flora. 展开更多

Objective: To observe the effect of Chinese medicine therapy for strengthening-Pi (脾) and nourishing-Shen (肾, SPNS) in preventing lamivudine induced YMDD mutation and its immunological mechanism. Methods: One hundred and sixty chronic hepatitis B (CHB) patients with positive HBeAg were equally assigned to two groups at random: the observation group and the control group. Patients in the observation group were treated with lamivudine combined with SPNS, and those in the control group were treated with lamivudine only, with the treatment lasting for 52 weeks in total. Changes in indexes, including liver function, HbeAg, HBV-DNA, YMDD variation, CD4, CD4/CD8 ratio, interferon- γ, (IFN-γ), interleukin-4 (IL-4), blood routine, renal function, as well as any adverse reactions that occurred in patients, were observed at different time points. Results: The ALT, AST recovery rate and HBV-DNA negatively inversing rate at the 24th week, the 36th week and the 52nd week were all higher (P〈0.05); meanwhile, the YMDD mutation rate at the 36th week and the 52nd week was lower (P〈0.05) in the observation group than in the control group. The post- treatment levels of CD4, CD4/CD8 ratio, IFN- γ, and IL-4 as well as the pre-post treatment difference of these indexes in the observation group were significantly different from those in the control group (n=〈0.05). Conclusion: Chinese medicine SPNS therapy can significantly reduce the YMDD variation of HBV, and the mechanism may be related to its regulation of the CD4 level, CD4/CD8 ratio and Th1/Th2 balance. Objective: To analyze the clinical evaluation of Parkinson's disease (PD) patients receiving integrated Chinese and Western medicine therapy. Methods: One hundred and twenty patients were enrolled and randomly allocated to a control group or treatment group. Patients in the two groups received placebo and Bushen Huoxue Granule (补肾活血颗粒, BHG), respectively. Both groups received baseline levodopa and benserazide (Madopar). The effects of treatment were assessed monthly during the 9-month treatment. Means of evaluation included Unified PD Rating Scale (UPDRS) scores (Ⅱ and Ⅲ), sleep scale score, 10 m turn back test (getting up time, 10 m × 2 times, and turning time), timing motor test (TMT)-Ieft and TMT-right, which were treated as the dependent variables; and age, sex, duration of PD, Hoehn and Yahr (H-Y) stage and Madopar dosage of admitted PD patients were as the independent variables. Multiple linear regression was used to analyze these factors. Results: H-Y stage significantly affected UPDRSⅡ score, UPDRS Ⅲ score, and getting up time (P〈0.01). Madopar dosage and H-Y stage significantly affected the 10 m × 2 times (P〈0.05 or P〈0.01). Madopar dosage significantly affected the sleep scale score (P〈0.05). There were also significant correlations between age and TMT-left or TMT-right (P〈0.01), and duration of PD and TMT-right (P〈0.05). Conclusions: The six assessed means of clinical evaluation (including UPDRS Ⅱ and UPDRS Ⅲ scores, sleep scale score, getting up time, 10 m × 2 times, and turning time) are sensitive indexes in all PD patients. H-Y stage and Madopar dosage are the major factors influencing means of clinical assessment of PD treatment. 展开更多

Objective: To evaluate the effect of combined therapy of Chinese herbal medicine and compound cyproterone acetate (CPA) in treating non-obesity polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) and to explore its mechanism in improving withdrawal ovulation. Methods: Eighty-six patients of non-obesity P-COS, typed as Shen-deficiency with blood stasis Syndrome or Shen-deficiency with Phlegm-Dampness Syndrome by Syndrome Differentiation in traditional Chines medicine, were randomly divided into three groups: (1) The TCM group (n = 26) was treated with Chinese drugs for 6 menstrual cycles; (2) The western medicine (WM) group (n=30) was treated with 1 tablet of CPA for 21 days, with the treatment beginning from the 5th day of menstruation. The treatment was given for 3 menstrual cycles by repetitious medication, which stopped and restarted on the 5th day of withdrawal bleeding. Then the ovulation promoting therapy was applied by using clomifene citrate and human chorionic gonadotropin (CC/hCG) for 3 menstrual cycles; (3) The TCM-WM group (n=30) was treated with the medications used for the above two groups. The menstrual cycle, the volume and duration of the menstruation, as well as the improvement of acne and pilosis [Ferriman-Gallway (F-G) scoring] were observed after 3 cycles ended. Moreover, condition of ovulation was monitored by B-ultrasonography at the 4th- 6th cycle and status of pregnancy was observed. Results: Compared with before treatment, the blood level of luteinizing hormone (LH) and testosterone (T) in all 3 groups after treatment significantly decreased (P<0. 05), with its ratio to follicle-stimulating hormone (LH/FSH) recovered to normal, but without markedly change in levels of FSH, estradiol (E2) and prolactin (PRL). The menstrual cycle in most patients got regular and acne significantly alleviated (P<0. 05), and the improvement of infrequent menstruation and acne was better in the WM group and the TCM-WM group than that in the TCM group, but pilosis showed no significant improvement in all three groups. The periodical ovulation rate in the TCM-WM group (73. 1%) and the WM group (68. 3%) was significantly higher than that in the TCM group (40%). The pregnancy rate in the TCM-WM group (53. 8%) was significantly higher than that in the other two groups (26.1% and 25% respectively, all P<0.05). Conclusion: Using combined therapy of TCM and composite CPA followed by o-vulation promoting agents of TCM and WM to treat patients of non-obesity PCOS could relieve the clinical symptoms, improve the abnormal blood level of sex hormones and significantly elevate the pregnancy rate. 展开更多

Objective: To explore the mechanism ofintegrated traditional Chinese and Westernmedicine (TCM--WM ) therapy on chronicaplastic anemia (CAA). Methods: The RBClife span of 30 normal human subjects and 30patients with CAA were measured by sir labelled technique before and after TCM--WMtherapy. The morphology and distribution ofRBC membrane protein granules were observed by freeze fracture etching and transmission electron microscope. Results: The halflife of erythrocytes (RBC TI/2)was shortenedin CAA cases and there was a significant difference compared to healthy control (P <0. 01). After therapy, the RBC life span prolonged and approached the normal level. Before treatment, there existed abnormal in morphology, decrease in amount and uneven indistribution of protein granules in protoplasmicface (PF) and extracellular face (EF) of RBCmembrane. After treatment, the protein granules of RBC membrane was improved and approached to control. Conclusions: The morphology, amount, quality and distribution ofRBC membrane protein granule were closelyrelated to its life span. The therapeutic effectof TCM--WM was better than that of WMalone and it had a function both in stabilizingmembrane protein and extending the RBC lifespan. 展开更多

Precision medicine aims to identify the right drug, for the right patient, at the right dose, at the right time, which is particularly important in cancer therapy. Problems such as the variability of treatment response and resistance to medication have been longstanding challenges in oncology, especially for development of new medications. Solid tumors, unlike hematologic malignancies or brain tumors, are remarkably diverse in their cellular origins and developmental timing. The ability of next-generation sequencing(NGS) to analyze the comprehensive landscape of genetic alterations brings promises to diseases that have a highly complex and heterogeneous genetic composition such as cancer. Here we provide an overview of how NGS is able to facilitate precision medicine and change the paradigm of cancer therapy, especially for solid tumors, through technical advancements, molecular diagnosis, response monitoring and clinical trials. 展开更多
