A flux-controlled memristor characterized by smooth cubic nonlinearity is taken as an example,upon which the voltage-current relationships(VCRs) between two parallel memristive circuits-a parallel memristor and capacitor circuit(the parallel MC circuit),and a parallel memristor and inductor circuit(the parallel ML circuit)-are investigated.The results indicate that the VCR between these two parallel memristive circuits is closely related to the circuit parameters,and the frequency and amplitude of the sinusoidal voltage stimulus.An equivalent circuit model of the memristor is built,upon which the circuit simulations and experimental measurements of both the parallel MC circuit and the parallel ML circuit are performed,and the results verify the theoretical analysis results. 展开更多

In this paper,a practical equivalent circuit of an active flux-controlled memristor characterized by smooth piecewise-quadratic nonlinearity is designed and an experimental chaotic memristive circuit is implemented.The chaotic memristive circuit has an equilibrium set and its stability is dependent on the initial state of the memristor.The initial state-dependent and the circuit parameter-dependent dynamics of the chaotic memristive circuit are investigated via phase portraits,bifurcation diagrams and Lyapunov exponents.Both experimental and simulation results validate the proposed equivalent circuit realization of the active flux-controlled memristor. 展开更多

Stainless steel(SS)is one of the most widely used engineering materials in marine engineering.However,its corrosion in the marine atmospheric environment due to the high concentration of Cl-is a problem.The SS corrosion is a threat to the development and security of marine industry;therefore,evaluating the corrosion resistance of SSs is necessary.In this work,atmospheric corrosion detection probes based on a symmetrical electrode system were used to study the corrosion behaviors of 304 SS and 2205 duplex stainless steel(DSS)in a simulated marine atmosphere.A theoretical model for electrochemical noise(EN)data analysis based on the Thevenin electrochemical equivalent circuit(EEC)model was established.The relationship between the EN characteristic parameters and the corrosion rate was obtained.The Thevenin EEC model analysis showed that the relationship between the noise resistance(Rn),the noise impedance[Rsn(f)],and the impedance modulus(|Z(f)|)was Rn≈Rsn=■.Thus,Rn and Rsn can be used as indicators for quantitative corrosion evaluation.The results of EN detection for the 304 SS and 2205 DSS showed that in a simulated marine atmospheric environment,the passive fi lms on the two SSs were relatively intact at the initial exposure stage,and their dissolution rates were slow.The corrosion resistance of the 2205 DSS was higher than that of the 304 SS.With the deposition of Cl-on the SS surface,pitting was initiated and the dissolution rate increased.The pitting initiation process on the SS surface was random,and part of the active pores could be repassivated. 展开更多

Firstly, relevant stress properties of millisecond level breaking process and microsecond level commutation process of hybrid HVDC circuit breaker are studied in detail on the basis of the analysis for the application environment and topological structure and operating principles of hybrid circuit breakers, and key stress parameters in transient state process of two time dimensions are extracted. The established digital simulation circuit for PSCAD/EMTDC device-level operation of the circuit breaker has verified the stress properties of millisecond level breaking process and microsecond level commutation process. Then, equivalent test method, circuits and parameters based on LC power supply are proposed on the basis of stress extraction. Finally, the results of implemented breaking tests for complete 200 kV circuit breaker, 100 kV and 50 kV circuit breaker units, as well as single power electronic module have verified the accuracy of the simulation circuit and mathematical analysis. The result of this paper can be a guide to electrical structure and test system design of hybrid HVDC circuit breaker. 展开更多

In this paper,based on the equivalent single diode circuit model of the solar cell,an equivalent circuit diagram for two serial solar cells is drawn.Its equations of current and voltage are derived from Kirchhoff’s current and voltage law.First,parameters are obtained from the I–V(current–voltage)curves for typical monocrystalline silicon solar cells(125 mm×125 mm).Then,by regarding photo-generated current,shunt resistance,serial resistance of the first solar cell,and resistance load as the variables.The properties of shunt currents(Ish1and Ish2),diode currents(ID1and ID2),and load current(IL)for the whole two serial solar cells are numerically analyzed in these four cases for the first time,and the corresponding physical explanations are made.We find that these parameters have different influences on the internal currents of solar cells.Our results will provide a reference for developing higher efficiency solar cell module and contribute to the better understanding of the reason of efficiency loss of solar cell module. 展开更多

A novel mapping equivalent approach is proposed in this paper, which can be used for analyzing and realizing a memristor-based dynamical circuit equivalently by a nonlinear dynamical circuit with the same topologies and circuit parameters. A memristor-based chaotic circuit and the corresponding Chua's chaotic circuit with two output differentiators are taken as examples to illustrate this approach. Equivalent dynamical analysis and realization of the memristor-based chaotic circuit are performed by using Chua's chaotic circuit. The results indicate that the outputs of memristor-based chaotic circuit and the corresponding outputs of Chua's chaotic circuit have identical dynamics. The proposed approach verified by numerical simulations and experimental observations is useful in designing and analyzing memristor-based dynamical circuits. 展开更多

In this paper, a physical memristive device is assumed to exist whose ionic drift direction is perpendicular to the direction of the applied voltage, upon which, corresponding to the HP charge-controlled memristor model, a novel threshold flux-controlled memristor model with a window function is proposed. The fingerprints of the proposed model are analyzed. Especially, a practical equivalent circuit of the proposed model is realized, from which the corresponding experimental fingerprints are captured. The equivalent circuit of the threshold memristor model is appropriate for various memristors based breadboard experiments. 展开更多

This report addresses the issues concerning the analysis of an electric circuit composed of multiple resistors configured in a 3-Dimension structure. Noting, all the standard textbooks of physics and engineering irrespective of the used components are circuits assembled in two dimensions. Here, by deviating from the “norm” we consider a case where the resistors are arranged in a 3D structure;e.g., a cube. Although, independent of the dimension of the design the same physics principles apply, transitioning from a 2D to a 3D makes the corresponding analysis considerably challenging. In general, with no exception, depending on the used components the analysis faces with solving a set of either algebraic or differential-algebraic equations. Practically, this interfaces with a Computer Algebra System (CAS). The main objective is symbolically to identify the current distributions and the equivalent resistor (s) of cubically assembled resistors. 展开更多

Numerous equivalent circuits for cavity discharges have been developed, yet most of these models cannot provide simulated sig- nals that precisely reveal the variability of the discharge’s characteristic parameters, such as repetition rate, magnitude and phase of discharges, which makes them not suitable for intensive studies of discharge process. Therefore, using Simulink code, we theoretically ana- lyzed and studied the classical equivalent circuits of cavity discharges, as well as the influence of circuit components on simulation results, and then proposed a novel equivalent circuit, the key parameters of which were determined according to the physical behavior of cavity discharges. In the novel equivalent circuit, the repetition rate can be changed by discharge resistance, inception and residual voltages; meanwhile the phase of discharge can be controlled by adjusting the parameters of shunt resistance. Furthermore, a controlled current source as a function of space charge is introduced in the equivalent circuit. Compared with the former ones, the simulated signals obtained by this novel model are better approximation of real signals. This work could be referred by latter studies of the characteristics and the me- chanisms of cavity discharge in oil-paper insulation. 展开更多

The design of the insulated core transformer(ICT)needs to consider the flux leakage effects.An equivalent linear circuit model is proposed based on the principle of duality.It is composed by two types of leakage inductances:conventional leakage between windings and special leakage introduced mainly by the insulation gaps.The values of leakage inductances depend on the dimensions of the core,gaps,or windings and the property of magnetic materials.The circuit allows for quantitatively evaluating influences of ICT internal parameters on its output properties.The winding self- and mutual inductance matrix is mathematically converted to derive the inductance formula.As an example,the leakage parameters of a sixstage two-dimensional(2D) ICT are calculated and analyzed. 展开更多

A simple analytical method is presented to analyze the transmission of electromagnetic plane waves through multilayer stacked composite two-dimensional( 2D) structures at microwave frequencies. Unlike the traditional structure,high impedance surface with graphene sheet is proposed. The structure includes graphene and thin metal patches and meshes. Simple analytical formulas are introduced for the surface impedance of graphene and for the grid impedance of electrically dense arrays of metal square patches or strips. The result of transmission properties is based on the dynamic tunable model of the high impedance surface,which considers the surface conductivity of graphene layer. The transmission coefficient obtained by using the equivalent circuit method is validated against full-wave numerical simulations. The considered equivalent circuit method can be useful in the design of graphene tunable planar devices. 展开更多

With the widespread utilization of indium-phosphide-based high-electron-mobility transistors(InP HEMTs)in the millimeter-wave(mmW)band,the distributed and high-frequency parasitic coupling behavior of the device is particularly prominent.We present an InP HEMT extrinsic parasitic equivalent circuit,in which the conductance between the device electrodes and a new gate-drain mutual inductance term L_(mgd)are taken into account for the high-frequency magnetic field coupling between device electrodes.Based on the suggested parasitic equivalent circuit,through HFSS and advanced design system(ADS)co-simulation,the equivalent circuit parameters are directly extracted in the multi-step system.The HFSS simulation prediction,measurement data,and modeled frequency response are compared with each other to verify the feasibility of the extraction method and the accuracy of the equivalent circuit.The proposed model demonstrates the distributed and radio-frequency behavior of the device and solves the problem that the equivalent circuit parameters of the conventional InP HEMTs device are limited by the device model and inaccurate at high frequencies when being extracted. 展开更多

The paper presents a new pedagogical method for finding the Thevenin and Norton equivalent circuits of a linear electric circuit (LEC) at the n-different pairs of terminals simultaneously, regardless of the circuit topology and complexity. The proposed method is appropriate for undergraduate electrical and electronic engineering students leading to straightforward solutions, mostly arrived at by inspection, so that it can be regarded as a simple and innovative calculation tool for Thevenin equivalents. Furthermore, the method is easily adapted to computer implementation. Examples illustrating the method’s scientific and pedagogical reliability, as well as real test results and statistically-sound data assessing its functionality are provided. 展开更多
