Methods: Experiments were conducted in 10 healthy volunteer subjects (8 males and 2 females) who were ordered to take a lying position on a specific bed with their heads keeping in a fixed position. Scalp point used was Motor Area (MS 6). The first syringe needle (gauge 5) was inserted into the scalp from the upper 1/5 of MS 6 and the second syringe needle inserted into the scalp from the middle 2/5 of MS 6 and advanced downward, with the two needles connected to a HAN’s Therapeutic Apparatus. Images of the brain were then taken before and after electroacupuncture (EA) stimulation, and after local injection of 1% lidocaine [mixed with epinephrine (1∶200,000, 3 mL)] plus EA by using Siemens ECAM/ICON Single Photo Emission Computed Tomography (SPECT). Intravenous injection of Ethyl cysteinate dimmer 555 MBq was performed before displaying cerebral images. Data of blood functional changing rat (BFCR%) were analyzed quantitatively using a mathematic model. Results: Before EA stimulation, the blood perfusion and function of cerebral cortex, thalamus, basal ganglion and cerebellum on both sides of the brain were basically symmetry. Following EA of MS 6, BFCR% of the contralateral thalamus, parietal lobe and the frontal lobe increased significantly. Following local infiltration anesthesia, BFCR% of the contralatral thalamus declined markedly (P<0.05). The results of quantitative analysis were in agreement with those of visual observation. Conclusion: Local infiltration anesthesia of the scalp point can significantly weaken or block EA stimulation induced changes of BFCR%.展开更多

The ischemic focus of the brain is determined by CT examination. For patients of the surrounding needling group, Gauge 29-30 stainless steel filiform needles are inserted into the surrounding scalp of the focal projection region one by one, with the needle tips toward the center of the focal projection area, and combined with other body acupoints according to syndrome differentiation. For patients of scalp acupuncture group, Motor Area (MS 6) and Sensory Area (MS 7) of the contralateral side of the focus are used. The treatment is performed once daily in both groups, with 30 sessions being a therapeutic course. After one course of treatment, in surrounding needling and scalp acupuncture groups, 20 and 11 cases are cured basically, 10 and 15 have a marked improvement, 1 and 4 are effective, the therapeutic effect of the former group is significantly superior to that of scalp acupuncture group. After treatment, plasma epinephrine (E) and norepinephrine (NE) levels of the two groups decrease considerably compared with pre treatment of each group (P<0.01), and the effects of surrounding needling on E and NE are more evidently than those of scalp acupuncture (P<0.05). Results suggest that the therapeutic effect of acupuncture may be related to the decline of plasma E and NE levels.展开更多

Methods The method recommended in the Cochrane Collaboration was used for the systematic evaluation of the randomized controlled trials (RCTs) of scalp acupuncture in the treatment of ischemic stroke. Results One thousand three hundred and ninety-five cases from 13 papers in Chinese version were in compliance with the inclusive criteria and all of them were the low-quality trials. The results of the included 5 trials in Meta analysis indicated that the efficacy of scalp acupuncture was superior to medication in the treatment of ischemic stroke (RR=1.27, 95% CI 1.06, 1.51). The results of 3 trials in Meta analysis suggested that the recovery in the nerve function defect of the patients with ischemic stroke treated with scalp acupuncture was apparent as compared with medication (WMD = -2.96, 95% C1-4.00, -1.92). The results of 5 trials in Meta analysis showed that the efficacy of scalp acupuncture on ischemic stroke was potentially superior to body acupuncture (RR=I.10, 95% CI 0.93, 1.28). Conclusion It is seen in the Meta analysis results of the included 13 RCTs that scalp acupuncture achieves the definite efficacy on ischemic stroke. Due to the limitation of the inclusive numbers and quality of the research, especially the lack of long-term indices, the conclusion reliability of this research is relatively low. Hence, it is required much more evidences for a further confirmation from the large scale and multiple central RCTs with high quality and intrinsic authenticity.展开更多

Following local infiltration anesthesia, BFCR% of the contralatral thalamus declined markedly (P<0.05). The results of quantitative analysis were in agreement with those of visual observation. Conclusion: Local infiltration anesthesia of the scalp point can significantly weaken or block EA stimulation induced changes of BFCR%.
文摘Objective; To observe clinical therapeutic effect of scalp acupuncture in the treatment of facial spasm. Methods: Sixty-five cases of facial spasm were randomly divided into control group (n = 31 ) and treatment group(n = 34). 文摘Objective: To observe the therapeutic effect of scalp acupuncture on cerebral blood flow in pseudobulbar paralysis patients for analyzing mechanisms of scalp acupuncture in the treatment of wind stroke. Methods: A total of 38 inpatients (26 males and 12 females) were treated with electroacupuncture (EA) of scalp point Dingzhongxian (MS 5), Dingnie Houxiexian (MS 7), Dingpangxian II (MS 9) and Dingnie Qianxiexian (MS 6). Before and after acupuncture treatment, clinical symptoms of dysphagia and dysphonia were compared, and the mean blood flow speed (MBFS) values of the anterior cerebral artery (ACA), middle cerebral artery (MCA) and posterior cerebral artery (PCA) detected by using Doppler blood flow meter. Results: Following two courses (4 weeks) of scalp acupuncture treatment, of the 38 cases, 23 had their dysphagia and dysphonia cured (60.5%), 10 (25.3%) had remarkable improvement, 3(7.9%) experienced improvement and 2 (5.3%) had no apparent changes. Simultaneously, MBFS of ACA, MCA and PCA increased significantly in comparison with that of pre treatment (P<0.01). Additionally, results also showed that scalp acupuncture could stabilize the blood circulation between both hemispheres of the brain. Conclusion: Scalp acupuncture has a fairly good therapeutic effect in improving stroke caused dysphagia and dysphonia and in facilitating cerebral blood flow.

文摘OBJECTIVE:To investigate the efficacy of scalp acupuncture Yikang therapy on Baihui(GV20),Sishencong(EX-HN1),Zhisanzhen,Niesanzhen,on neurobehavior in young rats with cerebral palsy based on Notch signaling pathway.METHODS:Thirty 7-day-old rats were randomly divided into sham, model and acupuncture,10 rats in each group. The cerebral palsy model was established by the accepted modeling method, the acupuncture group selected"Baihui(GV20)","Sishencong(EX-HN1)","Zhisanzhen"and"Niesanzhen"for intervention 24 h after the model was made. The body masses were recorded before and after the treatment, respectively. After the intervention, the rats were subjected to suspension experiment, slope experiment, tactile stimulation experiment and Morris water maze experiment. After the end of the experiment, the morphological changes of hippocampal histology were observed by hematoxylineosin(HE)staining under light microscope, and the expression of Notch1,Notch3 and Hes5 were detected by Western blot and quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction(PCR).RESULTS:The changes in body mass of the rats in each group were different;in behavioral experiments, compared with the sham, the suspension time of the model was shortened, the slope experiment, tactile stimulation experiment, and escape latency time were prolonged, and the number of platform crossing was reduced in the model, compared with the model, the suspension time of the acupuncture was prolonged, the slope experiment, tactile stimulation experiment, and escape latency time were shortened, and the number of platform crossing times was increased;HE staining showed severe hippocampal damage in the model and reduced hippocampal damage in the acupuncture.Western Blot and real-time fluorescence quantitative PCR showed that the expression of Notch1,Notch3 and Hes5 were increased in the model and the expression of Notch1,Notch3,Hes5 in acupuncture were decreased.CONCLUSIONS:Scalp acupuncture Yikang therapy may improve neurobehavior and reduce brain injury in rats with cerebral palsy by downregulating the expression of Notch1,Notch3,and Hes5.
文摘Background:Stress urinary incontinence(SUI),is the most common type of urinary incontinence affecting women.SUI has a significant impact on psychosocial functioning and quality of life.Biomedical treatments, such as surgery, often result in post-operative complications. In China, traditional Chinese medicine tends to be the treatment of choice for SUI.Case presentation:We present a 35-year-old patient who developed SUI following forceps delivery and was treated successfully with acupuncture and Chinese herbs.Traditional Chinese diagnosis, including channel and acupoint palpation revealed the patient had a syndrome pattern of liver/kidney deficiency, disordered bladder qi transformation, all of which lead to enuresis.Acupuncture, both body and scalp needling, were performed.Herbs were prescribed adjunctively. Conclusion:Traditional Chinese medicine modalities may be considered for treatment of SUI based on appropriate syndrome pattern assessment.
文摘In this study, 61 cases of ischemic stroke patients are randomly divided into surrounding needling group (n=31) and scalp acupuncture group (n=30). Results suggest that the therapeutic effect of acupuncture may be related to the decline of plasma E and NE levels.
文摘121 cases of ischemic stroke were randomly divided into CT-aided surrounding needling group (CTASN, 61 cases) and scalp Acupuncture group (SA, 60 cases). After 30 sessions of treatment the therapeutic results of the two groups are significantly different (P < 0.05), the therapeutic effect of CTASN group is better than that of SA group. The plasma contents of TXB2 and 6-keto-PGF1a of the two groups change considerably after acupuncture treatment, the change in CTASN group is more obvious.
文摘cases of apoplexy were randomly divided into two groups: group A (40 cases)and group B (32 cases). In group A, we used transverse acupuncture of anteriorobligue line of vertextemporal plus acupuncture of commonlyused body acupoints for apoplexy. After 30 times of treatments, the results were as follows: In group A, basic recovery rate was 20%, marked improvement rate was 50%. In growp B, basic recovery rate was 9.4%, marked improvement rate was 25%. The total therapeutic effect in group A was better than that in group B.This indicated: Transverse acupuncture of anterioroblique line of vertextemporal has definite therapeutic effect for apoplexy and has better therapeutic effect than acupuncture along the line.

文摘Objective To evaluate the efficacy and safety of scalp acupuncture in the treatment of ischemic stroke. Hence, it is required much more evidences for a further confirmation from the large scale and multiple central RCTs with high quality and intrinsic authenticity.
