[Objective] The aim was to determine the difference in sucrose content of different tartary buckwheat sources,so as to screen low-sucrose buckwheat materials.[Method] The sucrose contents of 35 tartary buckwheat materials from different regions were measured.[Result] The sucrose content of the 35 tartary buckwheat materials varied from 0.007 7% to 0.208 9% with an average of 0.051 8%.There was some difference among the tartary buckwheat materials from different regions.The seeds from Hezhang in Guizhou had higher sucrose content,while the seeds from Nayong in Guizhou had lower sucrose content.[Conclusion] The content of sucrose was significantly low in tartary buckwheat,which could be popularized as a kind of low-sugar crop. 展开更多

Dynamic changes of sucrose, fructose, glucose contents and differences in activities of sucrose synthase, vacuolar invertase, and cell wall bound invertase in rice grain after flowering stage were studied under natural and high temperatures by using two japonica rice varieties Koshihikari and Sasanishiki. In rice grains, the sucrose synthase activity was higher than that of invertase, which was significantly correlated with starch accumulation rate, indicating that the sucrose synthase played an important role in sucrose degradation and starch synthesis. Under high temperature, the significant increase in grain sucrose content without any increase in fructose and glucose contents, suggested that the high temperature treatment enhanced sucrose accumulation, while diminished sucrose degradation in rice grains. Compared with the control plants, the decrease in activities of sucrose synthase, vacuolar invertase, and cell wall bound invertase with high temperature treated plants indicated that the deceleration of sucrose-degradation was related to the decrease in activities of sucrose synthase and invertase. 展开更多

[Objective]To elucidate the role of ethylene(ET),a latex yield stimulant of the rubber tree,on the sieve tube(ST)transport efficiency of materials(especially sucrose)needed for natural rubber biosynthesis.[Method]Rubber tree seedlings were treated with ET solution or water which was used as a control on the bark,and latex samples and ST tissue samples were collected for proteomic analyses and latex sucrose content determination respectively.[Results]After ET treatment,the sucrose content of the latex was found significantly decreased.A total of 66 ethylene-responsive proteins(ERPs)were distinguished by two-dimensional gel electrophoresis(2-DE),and 54 were successfully identified by MALDI-TOF/TOF and database searching.The majority of these ERPs were involved in carbohydrate transport and metabolic processes in the ST.[Conclusion]Our findings suggest that the application of ET may increase the transport efficiency of the ST and that the application of ET promotes the consumption of energy and sucrose in the ST. 展开更多

The experiment was conducted with the traditional manual harvesting and mechanical harvesting of sugarcane,to compare the effects of different harvesting method on the sugarcane stubble quality and the growth of ratoon.The experimental results are as follows.(i) The stubble height and breaking stubble rate of mechanical harvesting was significantly higher than manual harvesting,the stubble height of lodging species and difficult defoliation species increased in mechanical harvesting condition.Varieties with higher levels of fiber had lower rate of broken stubble.(ii) The effects of mechanical harvesting on germination of next year ratoon were quite different due to different varieties,indicating that the better perennial species have less impact than the poor perennial species.(iii) Compared with manual harvesting,mechanical harvesting had slightly higher plant height and single-stem weight and less effective stems number,the difference of cane yield was not significant,but sucrose content increased 0.53%.(iv) Mechanical harvesting combining with leaves crushing could reduce the impact on the germination of ratoon,improve the single-stem weight and increase the effective number of stems. 展开更多
