Based on the open source software Artificial Linguistic Internet Computer Entity(A.L.I.C.E.) and a combined application of several other relevant supporting technologies for facilitating the use of the current existing library resources, Tsinghua University Library has recently developed a real-time smart talking robot, named Xiaotu, for the enhancement of its various service functions, such as reference services, book searching, Baidu Baike searching, self-directed learning, etc. The operation of Xiaotu is programmed into Renren website(a social networking website), which adds significantly an innovative feature to the modus operandi of the real-time virtual reference service at Tsinghua University Library.展开更多

In contrast to the conventional demodulating method that uses fast Fourier transform(FFT) for cavity length estimation, our method employs the VRI technique to obtain a raw cavity length, which is further refined by the MMSE algorithm. As an experimental demonstration, a fiber-optic F-P sensor based on a sapphire wafer is fabricated for temperature sensing. The VRI-MMSE method is employed to interrogate cavity lengths of the sensor under different temperatures ranging from 28°C to 1000°C. It eliminates the "mode jumping" problem in the FFT-MMSE method and obtains a precision of 4.8 nm, corresponding to a temperature resolution of 2.0°C over a range of 1000°C. The experimental results reveal that the proposed method provides a promising, high precision alternative for demodulating fiber-optic F-P sensors.展开更多

To design a controller in closed loop system structure, the idea of virtual reference feedback tuning is proposed to avoid the identification process corresponding to the plant model. After constructing one identification cost without any knowledge of plant model, the author derives one bound on the difference between the expected identification cost and its sample identification cost under the condition that the number of data points is finite. Also the correlation between the plant input and external noise is considered in the derivation of this bound. Furthermore, the author continues to derive one probability bound to quantify this difference by using some probability inequalities and control theory.展开更多

However,SOFCs present a challenging control problem owing to their slow dynamics, nonlinearity and tight operating constraints. A novel data-driven nonlinear control strategy was proposed to solve the SOFC control problem by combining a virtual reference feedback tuning (VRFT) method and support vector machine. In order to fulfill the requirement for fuel utilization and control constraints,a dynamic constraints unit and an anti-windup scheme were adopted. In addition,a feedforward loop was designed to deal with the current disturbance. Detailed simulations demonstrate that the fast response of fuel flow for the current demand disturbance and zero steady error of the output voltage are both achieved. Meanwhile, fuel utilization is kept almost within the safe region.展开更多
