Satellite remote sensing is a powerful technique to monitor NH_(3) concentration based on the absorption lines of NH_(3) in the thermal infrared region. In this study, we establish a retrieval algorithm to derive the NH_(3)column from the Hyperspectral Infrared Atmospheric Sounder(HIRAS) onboard the Chinese Feng Yun(FY)-3D satellite and present the first atmospheric NH_(3) column global map observed by the HIRAS instrument. The HIRAS observations can well capture NH_(3) hotspots around the world, e.g., India, West Africa, and East China, where large NH_(3) emissions exist. Considering that astrocytes play a vital role in mediating the uptake and absorption of ammonium ions in the extracellular space of the cortical circuit, we constructed a new astrocyte neuron coupling model, which is composed of a neuron and its astrocytes connected through the extracellular space, taking into account of the influence of extracellular ammonium ions. The numerical results verified the previous experimental observation that obtained epileptic firing modes of neurons and postsynaptic GABA reversal potential depolarization triggered by ammonia injection. In addition, we also determined the concentration–response relationship between the ammonium ion concentration and the time of entering epilepsy and predicted the threshold of the ammonium ion concentration for the onset of epilepsy.展开更多

In this work, the plasmon resonance phenomena of polyhedral silver clusters under the adsorption of NH_(3) , N_(2), H_(2), and CH_(4) molecules are studied by using time-dependent density functional theory. Under the adsorption of NH_(3) , the tunneling current of silver clusters changes significantly due to the charge transfer from NH_(3) to silver clusters. However, the effects of N_(2), H_(2), and CH_(4) adsorption on the tunneling current of silver clusters are negligible. Our results indicate that these silver clusters exhibit excellent selectivities and sensitivities for NH_(3) detection. These findings confirm that the silver cluster is a promising NH_(3) sensor and provide a new method for designing high-performance sensors in the future.展开更多

Herein,we present for the first time that anomalous metastable hexagonal close-packed Ni nanoparticles induced by heteroatom N doping encapsulated in carbon(N-hcp-Ni/C) can exhibit admirable catalytic performance for ammonia borane(AB) dehydrogenation, prominently outperforming conventional fcc Ni counterpart with similar morphology and favorably presenting the state-of-the-art level.Comprehensive experimental and theoretical studies unravel that unusual hcp phase engineering of Ni together with N doping could induce charge redistribution and modulate electronic structure, thereby facilitating H_(2)O adsorption and expediting H_(2)O dissociation(rate-determining step). As a result, AB dehydrogenation can be substantially boosted with the assistance of N-hcp-Ni/C. Our proposed strategy highlights that unconventional crystal phase engineering coupled with non-metal heteroatom doping is a promising avenue to construct advanced transition metal catalysts for future renewable energy technologies.展开更多

文摘Presently, ammonia is an ideal candidate for future clean energy. The Haber-Bosch process has been an essential ammonia production process, and it is one of the most important technological advancements since its invention, sustaining the explosive growth of military munitions industry and fertilizers in the first half of the 20th century. However, the process is facing great challenges:the growing need for ammonia and the demands of environmental protection.High energy consumption and high CO_(2) emissions greatly limit the application of the Haber-Bosch method, and increasing research efforts are devoted to"green"ammonia synthesis.Thermocatalytic, electrocatalytic, and photocatalytic ammonia production under mild conditions and the derived chemical looping and plasma ammonia production methods, have been widely developed.Electrocatalytic and photocatalytic methods, which use low fossil fuels, are naturally being considered as future directions for the development of ammonia production.Although their catalytic efficiency of ammonia generation is not yet sufficient to satisfy the actual demands, considerable progress has been made in terms of regulating structure and morphology of catalyst and improving preparation efficiency. The chemical looping approach of ammonia production differs from the thermocatalytic, electrocatalytic, and photocatalytic methods, and is the method of reusing raw materials. The plasma treatment approach alters the overall ammonia production approach and builds up a new avenue of development in combination with thermal, photocatalytic, and electrocatalytic methods as well. This review discusses several recent effective catalysts for different ammonia production methods and explores mechanisms as well as efficiency of these catalysts for catalytic N2fixation of ammonia.

文摘Electrocatalytic synthesis under mild conditions has become increasingly important as one of the practical alternatives for industrial applications, especially for the green ammonia(NH_(3))industry.A properly engineered electrocatalyst plays a vital role in the realization of superior catalytic performance.Among various types of promising nanomaterials, metal–organic frameworks(MOFs)are competitive candidates for developing efficient electrocatalytic NH_(3) synthesis from simple nitrogen-containing molecules or ions, such as N_(2) and NO_(3)^(−).In this review, recent advances in the development of electrocatalysts derived from MOFs for the electrosynthesis of NH_(3) are collected, categorized, and discussed, including their application in the N_(2) reduction reaction(NRR)and the NO_(3)^(−)reduction reaction(NO3RR).Firstly,the fundamental principles are illustrated, such as plausible mechanisms of NH_(3) generation from N_(2) and NO_(3)^(−),the apparatus of corresponding electrocatalysis, parameters for evaluation of reaction efficiency, and detection methods of yielding NH_(3).Then,the electrocatalysts for NRR processes are discussed in detail, including pristine MOFs,MOF-hybrids,MOF-derived N-doped porous carbons, single atomic catalysts from pyrolysis of MOFs,and other MOF-related materials.Subsequently,MOF-related NO3RR processes are also listed and discussed. Finally, the existing challenges and prospects for the rational design and fabrication of electrocatalysts from MOFs for electrochemical NH_(3) synthesis are presented, such as the evolution of investigation methods with artificial intelligence, innovation in synthetic methods of MOF-related catalysts, advancement of characterization techniques, and extended electrocatalytic reactions.

文摘Sustainable ammonia synthesis at ambient conditions that relies on renewable sources of energy and feedstocks is globally sought to replace the Haber-Bosch process. Here, using nitrogen and water as raw materials,a nonthermal plasma catalysis approach is demonstrated as an effective powerto-chemicals conversion strategy for ammonia production.By sustaining a highly reactive environment, successful plasma-catalytic production of NH_(3) was achieved from the dissociation of N_(2) and H_(2)O under mild conditions.Plasma-induced vibrational excitation is found to decrease the N_(2) and H_(2)O dissociation barriers, with the presence of matched catalysts in the nonthermal plasma discharge reactor contributing significantly to molecular dissociation on the catalyst surface.Density functional theory calculations for the activation energy barrier for the dissociation suggest that ruthenium catalysts supported on magnesium oxide exhibit superior performance over other catalysts in NH_(3) production by lowering the activation energy for the dissociative adsorption of N_(2) down to 1.07 eV.The highest production rate,2.67 mmol gcat.^(-1) h^(-1),was obtained using ruthenium catalyst supported on magnesium oxide. This work highlights the potential of nonthermal plasma catalysis for the activation of renewable sources to serve as a new platform for sustainable ammonia production.
文摘Ammo n i a(N H 3)i s a promising energy vector for the storage and utilization of renewable energies.Artificially synthesizing NH3 from its elements(Haber-Bosch process)requires harsh reaction conditions(400-500°C,10-30 MPa)because N2 is inert and nonpolar with a strong N≡N bond. The synthesis of NH3 under mild conditions is still challenging.

文摘Ambient electrocatalytic nitrogen fixation is an emerging technology for green ammonia synthesis, but the absence of optimized, stable and performant catalysts can render its practical application challenging.Herein, bimetallic NiCo boride nanoparticles confined in MXene are shown to accomplish highperformance nitrogen reduction electrolysis.Ta king advantage of the synergistic effect in specific compositions with unique electronic d and p orbits and typical architecture of rich nanosized particles embedded in the interconnected conductive network, the synthesized MXene@NiCoB composite demonstrates extensive improvements in nitrogen molecule chemisorption, active area exposure and charge transport. As a result, optimal NH3 yield rate of 38.7μg h^(-1) mgcat^(-1).and Faradaic efficiency of 6.92%are acquired in0.1 M Na_(2)SO_(4) electrolyte. Moreover, the great catalytic performance can be almost entirely maintained in the cases of repeatedly-cycled and long-term electrolysis.Theoretical investigations reveal that the nitrogen reduction reaction on MXene@NiCoB catalyst proceeds according to the distal pathway, with a distinctly-reduced energy barrier relative to the Co2B counterpart. This work may inspire a new route towards the rational catalyst design for the nitrogen reduction reaction.

文摘This study aimed to investigate the mechanism of nitrogen doping, migration, and conversion during ammonia torrefaction and also explore the evolution law of the chemical structure of cellulose. The results showed that the ammonia torrefaction pretreatment could significantly optimize the distribution of nitrogen and oxygen elements in cellulose. The carbon skeleton first captured the active nitrogenous radicals to form-NHn-N,and pyridine-N and pyrrole-N originated from the conversion of-NHn-N.The existence of C=O played a major role in the immobilization of nitrogen. The nitrogen in bio-oil exists mainly in the form of five-and six-membered heterocycles. The correlation analysis showed that the main precursors for the formation of nitrogenous heterocyclic compounds were five-membered Oheterocyclic compounds. Finally, the product distribution characteristics in the torrefaction-pyrolysis systems were summarized, and the nitrogen doping and conversion mechanisms were proposed. This study expanded the boundaries of cellulose pretreatment and the production of high-value chemicals.

文摘Experimental records in the cerebral cortex indicate that ammonia injection can lead to seizures. In addition, we also determined the concentration–response relationship between the ammonium ion concentration and the time of entering epilepsy and predicted the threshold of the ammonium ion concentration for the onset of epilepsy.

文摘The concept of“green-ammonia-zero-carbon emission”is an emerging research topic in the global community and many countries driving toward decarbonizing a diversity of applications dependent on fossil fuels. In light of this, electrochemical nitrogen reduction reaction(ENRR)received great attention at ambient conditions. The low efficiency(%)and ammonia(NH_(3))production rates are two major challenges in making a sustainable future.Besides, hydrogen evolution reaction is another crucial factor for realizing this NH_(3)synthesis to meet the large-scale commercial demand.Herein, the(i)importance of NH_(3)as an energy carrier for the next future,(ii)discussion with ENRR theory and the fundamental mechanism,(iii)device configuration and types of electrolytic systems for NH_(3)synthesis including key metrics,(iv)then moving into rising electrocatalysts for ENRR such as single-atom catalysts(SACs),MXenes, and metal–organic frameworks that were scientifically summarized, and(v)finally, the current technical contests and future perceptions are discussed.Hence, this review aims to give insightful direction and a fresh motivation toward ENRR and the development of advanced electrocatalysts in terms of cost, efficiency, and technologically large scale for the synthesis of green NH_(3).

文摘Electrochemical reduction of nitrate,a common pollutant in aquatic environment,to valuable ammonia(NO3-RR) using renewably-sourced electricity has attracted widespread interests, with past efforts mainly focused on designing electrocatalysts with high activity and selectivity. The detailed correlation between catalyst properties and NO3-RR kinetics, nevertheless,is still not fully understood. In this work,we modulate the surface oxygen species of Cu_(2)O via facet engineering, and systematically study the impact of these oxygen species on the NO_(3)^(-)RR activity.Combining advanced spectroscopic techniques, densi ty fu n ctional theory calculations and molecular dynamics simulations,we find that while oxygen vacancies on Cu_(2)O(111) surface promote the adsorption of reactants and reaction intermediates, hydroxyl groups effectively inhibit the side reaction of hydrogen evolution and facilitate the hydrogenation process of NO3-RR.These two effects work in concert to render Cu_(2)O(111) facet the highest NO3-RR activity relative to those from other facets. Our study provides critical insights into the synergistic effect of exposed facets and surface oxygen species on heterogeneous catalysis, and offers a generalizable, facet engineeringbased strategy for improving the performance of a variety of electrocatalysts important for renewable energy conversion.

文摘In this work, the CuAl-LDO/c-CNTs catalyst was fabricated via in situ oriented assembly of layered-double hydroxides(LDHs)and citric acid-modified carbon nanotubes(c-CNTs)followed by annealing treatment, and evaluated in the selective catalytic oxidation(SCO)of NH_(3)to N_(2).The CuAl-LDO/c-CNTs catalyst presented better catalytic performance(98%NH_(3)conversion with nearly 90%N_(2)selectivity at 513 K)than other catalysts, such as CuAlO_(x)/CNTs,CuAlO_(x)/c-CNTs and CuAl-LDO/CNTs.Multiple characterizations were utilized to analyze the difference of physicochemical properties among four catalysts.XRD,TEM and XPS analyses manifested that CuO and Cu_(2)O nanoparticles dispersed well on the surface of the Cu Al-LDO/c-CNTs catalyst.Compared with other catalysts, larger specific surface area and better dispersion of CuAl-LDO/c-CNTs catalyst were conducive to the exposure of more active sites, thus improving the redox capacity of the active site and NH_(3)adsorption capacity.In-situ DRIFTS results revealed that the internal selective catalytic reduction(iSCR)mechanism was found over CuAl-LDO/c-CNTs catalyst.

文摘Transfer hydrogenation(TH) with in situ generated hydrogen donor is of great importance in reduction reactions, and an alternative strategy to traditional hydrogenation processes involving pressurized molecular hydrogen. Ammonia borane(NH3BH3, AB) is a promising material of hydrogen storage, and it has attracted much attention in reductive organic transformations owing to its high activity, good atom economy, nontoxicity, sustainability, and ease of transport and storage. This review focuses on summarizing the recent progress of AB-mediated TH reactions of diverse substrates including nitro compounds, nitriles, imines, alkenes, alkynes, carbonyl compounds(ketones and aldehydes), carbon dioxide, and N-and O-heterocycles. Syntheses protocols(metal-containing and metal-free), the effect of reaction parameters, product distribution, and variation of reactivity are surveyed, and the mechanism of each reaction involving the action mode of AB as well as structure-activity relationships is discussed in detail. Finally, perspectives are presented to highlight the challenges and opportunities for AB-enabled TH reactions of unsaturated compounds.

文摘The unique plasmon resonance characteristics of nanostructures based on metal clusters have always been the focus of various plasmon devices and different applications. These findings confirm that the silver cluster is a promising NH_(3) sensor and provide a new method for designing high-performance sensors in the future.

文摘Exhaled ammonia(NH_(3))is an essential noninvasive biomarker for disease diagnosis. In this study,an acetone-modifier positive photoionization ion mobility spectrometry(AM-PIMS)method was developed for accurate qualitative and quantitative analysis of exhaled NH_(3)with high selectivity and sensitivity.Acetone was introduced into the drift tube along with the drift gas as a modifier, and the characteristic NH_(3)product ion peak of(C_(3)H_(6)O)_(4)NH_(4)^(+)(K_(0)=1.45 cm^(2)/V·s)was obtained through the ion-molecule reaction with acetone reactant ions(C_(3)H_(6)O)_(2)H^(+)(K_(0)=1.87 cm^(2)/V·s),which significantly increased the peak-to-peak resolution and improved the accuracy of exhaled NH_(3)qualitative identification. Moreover, the interference of high humidity and the memory effect of NH_(3)molecules were significantly reduced via online dilution and purging sampling, thus realizing breath-by-breath measurement. As a result,a wide quantitative range of 5.87-140.92μmol/L with a response time of 40 ms was achieved, and the exhaled NH_(3)profile could be synchronized with the concentration curve of exhaled CO_(2).Finally,the analytical capacity of AM-PIMS was demonstrated by measuring the exhaled NH_(3)of healthy subjects, demonstrating its great potential for clinical disease diagnosis.

文摘Developing high-performing non-noble transition metal catalysts for H_(2) evolution from chemical hydrogen storage materials is of great significance for the hydrogen economy system, yet challenging. Our proposed strategy highlights that unconventional crystal phase engineering coupled with non-metal heteroatom doping is a promising avenue to construct advanced transition metal catalysts for future renewable energy technologies.

文摘Disulfide zirconium(ZrS_(2)) is a two-dimensional(2D) transition metal disulfide and has given rise to extensive attention because of its distinctive electronic structure and properties. However, mass production of high quality of ZrS_(2)nanosheets to realize their practical application remains a challenge. Here,we have successfully exfoliated the bulk ZrS_(2)powder with the thickness of micron into single and few-layer nanosheets through liquid-phase exfoliation in N-methylpyrrolidone(NMP) assisted via aliphatic amines as intercalators. It is found that the exfoliation yield is as high as 27.3%,which is the record value for the exfoliation of ZrS_(2)nanosheets from bulk ZrS_(2)powder,and 77.1% of ZrS_(2)nanosheets are 2-3 layers. The molecular geometric size and aliphatic amine basicity have important impact on the exfoliation.Furthermore, the ZrS_(2)nanosheets have been used as catalyst in the electrocatalytic dinitrogen reduction with the NH3yield of 57.75 μg h^(-1)mg_(cat.)^(-1),which is twice that by ZrS_(2)nanofibers reported in literature and three times that by the bulk ZrS_(2)powder.Therefore,the liquid phase exfoliation strategy reported here has great potential in mass production of ZrS_(2)nanosheets for high activity electrocatalysis.
