The complexity is regulated and controlled by homeostasis, which is the balance of multiple opposing influences. The environmental effects finally guide the self-organized structure. The living systems are open, dynamic structures performing random, stationary, stochastic, self-organizing processes. The self-organizing procedure is defined by the spatial-temporal fractal structure, which is self-similar both in space and time. The system’s complexity appears in its energetics, which tries the most efficient use of the available energies;for that, it organizes various well-connected networks. The controller of environmental relations is the Darwinian selection on a long-time scale. The energetics optimize the healthy processes tuned to the highest efficacy and minimal loss (minimalization of the entropy production). The organism is built up by morphogenetic rules and develops various networks from the genetic level to the organism. The networks have intensive crosstalk and form a balance in the Nash equilibrium, which is the homeostatic state in healthy conditions. Homeostasis may be described as a Nash equilibrium, which ensures energy distribution in a “democratic” way regarding the functions of the parts in the complete system. Cancer radically changes the network system in the organism. Cancer is a network disease. Deviation from healthy networking appears at every level, from genetic (molecular) to cells, tissues, organs, and organisms. The strong proliferation of malignant tissue is the origin of most of the life-threatening processes. The weak side of cancer development is the change of complex information networking in the system, being vulnerable to immune attacks. Cancer cells are masters of adaptation and evade immune surveillance. This hiding process can be broken by electromagnetic nonionizing radiation, for which the malignant structure has no adaptation strategy. This study aims to provide guidance on the syntactic features ...The rhetorical structure of abstracts has been a widely discussed topic, as it can greatly enhance the abstract writing skills of second-language writers. This study aims to provide guidance on the syntactic features that L2 learners can employ, as well as suggest which features they should focus on in English academic writing. To achieve this, all samples were analyzed for rhetorical moves using Hyland’s five-rhetorical move model. Additionally, all sentences were evaluated for syntactic complexity, considering measures such as global, clausal and phrasal complexity. The findings reveal that expert writers exhibit a more balanced use of syntactic complexity across moves, effectively fulfilling the rhetorical objectives of abstracts. On the other hand, MA students tend to rely excessively on embedded structures and dependent clauses in an attempt to increase complexity. The implications of these findings for academic writing research, pedagogy, and assessment are thoroughly discussed.展开更多
Globally,economies have become complex and new technologies have transformed and facilitated the modernization of economies.In the previous literature,economic complexity approach has become one of the popular tools i...Globally,economies have become complex and new technologies have transformed and facilitated the modernization of economies.In the previous literature,economic complexity approach has become one of the popular tools in the development and innovation studies of economic geography.Researchers have found that green technology and eco-innovation approaches should be used to decisively reduce the effects of carbon emissions on the environment.However,debates about the impact of economic complexity on environment remain unsettled since some emerging production technologies have far-reaching pollution effects.This study explored the impacts of economic complexity on environmental sustainability in Turkey using the novel Fourier-based approaches,namely:Fourier Augmented Dickey-Fuller(FADF)and Fourier Autoregressive-Distributed Lag(FARDL)models.The Fourier-based approaches indicated that all variables(economic complexity index(ECI),GDP,energy consumption,and CO_(2)emission(CO_(2)E))are cointegrated in the long run.Additionally,the FARDL model implied that(i)in the long run,the effect of ECI(as a proxy for economic complexity),GDP(as a proxy for economic growth),and energy consumption on CO_(2)E(as a proxy for environmental quality)are important;(ii)economic complexity decreases environmental degradation in Turkey;and(iii)economic growth and energy consumption negatively affect environmental quality.The results also showed that economic complexity could be used as a policy tool to tackle environmental degradation.The findings also revealed that the fossil fuelbased economy will continue to expand and undermine Turkey’s efforts to meet its net zero emission target by 2053.Therefore,policy-makers should take actions and establish diversified economic,environmental,and energy strategies.For policy insights,the Turkish governments can use the combination of tax exemptions and technical support systems to support knowledge creation and the diffusion of environmentally friendly technologies The governments can also impose strict environmental regulations on the knowledge development phases.展开更多

This paper proposes the alternating direction method of multipliers-based infinity-norm(ADMIN) with threshold(ADMIN-T) and with percentage(ADMIN-P) detection algorithms,which make full use of the distribution of the s...This paper proposes the alternating direction method of multipliers-based infinity-norm(ADMIN) with threshold(ADMIN-T) and with percentage(ADMIN-P) detection algorithms,which make full use of the distribution of the signal to interference plus noise ratio(SINR) for an uplink massive MIMO system.The ADMIN-T and ADMIN-P detection algorithms are improved visions of the ADMIN detection algorithm,in which an appropriate SINR threshold in the ADMIN-T detection algorithm and a certain percentage in the ADMIN-P detection algorithm are designed to reduce the overall computational complexity.The detected symbols are divided into two parts by the SINR threshold which is based on the cumulative probability density function(CDF) of SINR and a percentage,respectively.The symbols in higher SINR part are detected by MMSE.The interference of these symbols is then cancelled by successive interference cancellation(SIC).Afterwards the remaining symbols with low SINR are iteratively detected by ADMIN.The simulation results show that the ADMIIN-T and the ADMIN-P detection algorithms provide a significant performance gain compared with some recently proposed detection algorithms.In addition,the computational complexity of ADMIN-T and ADMIN-P are significantly reduced.Furthermore,in the case of same number of transceiver antennas,the proposed algorithms have a higher performance compared with the case of asymmetric transceiver antennas.展开更多
Globally traffic signs are used by all countries for healthier traffic flow and to protect drivers and pedestrians.Consequently,traffic signs have been of great importance for every civilized country,which makes resea...Globally traffic signs are used by all countries for healthier traffic flow and to protect drivers and pedestrians.Consequently,traffic signs have been of great importance for every civilized country,which makes researchers give more focus on the automatic detection of traffic signs.Detecting these traffic signs is challenging due to being in the dark,far away,partially occluded,and affected by the lighting or the presence of similar objects.An innovative traffic sign detection method for red and blue signs in color images is proposed to resolve these issues.This technique aimed to devise an efficient,robust and accurate approach.To attain this,initially,the approach presented a new formula,inspired by existing work,to enhance the image using red and green channels instead of blue,which segmented using a threshold calculated from the correlational property of the image.Next,a new set of features is proposed,motivated by existing features.Texture and color features are fused after getting extracted on the channel of Red,Green,and Blue(RGB),Hue,Saturation,and Value(HSV),and YCbCr color models of images.Later,the set of features is employed on different classification frameworks,from which quadratic support vector machine(SVM)outnumbered the others with an accuracy of 98.5%.The proposed method is tested on German Traffic Sign Detection Benchmark(GTSDB)images.The results are satisfactory when compared to the preceding work.展开更多

In order to improve the spectrum efficiency with low complexity, we propose a joint hybrid precoding algorithm for single-user mmWave MIMO systems in this paper. By using the concept of equivalent channel, the proposed algorithm skillfully utilizes the idea of alternating optimization to complete the design of RF precoder and combiner. Then, the baseband precoder and combiner are computed by calculating the singular value decomposition of the equivalent channel. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm can achieve satisfactory performance with quite low complexity. Moreover, we investigate the effects of quantization on the analog components and find that the proposed scheme is effective even with coarse quantization.展开更多

EEG data for healthy subjects were acquired using a net of 2 electrodes (Fp1 and Fp2) at PM 4:00, AM 12:00 and AM 3:00 in the 24 hours sleep-deprived mental fatigue experiments. It was presented that initial results for eight subjects examined in three different mental fa-tigue state with 2-channel EEG time-domain Lempel-Ziv complexity computations. It was found that the value of mean Lempel-Ziv com-plexity corresponding to a special mental state fluctuates within the special range and the value of C(n) increases with mental fatigue increasing for the total frequency spectrum. The result in-dicates that the value of C(n) is strongly cor-relative with the mental fatigue state. These re-sults suggest that it may be possible to nonin-vasively differentiate different mental fatigue level according to the value of C(n) for particular mental state from scalp spontaneous EEG data. This method may be useful in further research and efforts to evaluate mental fatigue level ob-jectively. It may also provide a basis for the study of effects of mental fatigue on central neural system.展开更多

By means of back-projection of array recordings, ASTFs-analysis of global seismic recordings, and joint inversion of global seismic data and co-seismic In SAR data, we investigated complexity of the earthquake source. The result shows that the 2016 MW7.8 Kaikoura earthquake ruptured about 100 s unilaterally from south to northeast(~N28°–33°E), producing a rupture area about 160 km long and about 50 km wide and releasing scalar moment 1.01×1021 Nm. In particular, the rupture area consisted of two slip asperities, with one close to the initial rupture point having a maximal slip value ~6.9 m while the other far away in the northeast having a maximal slip value ~9.3 m. The first asperity slipped for about 65 s and the second one started 40 s after the first one had initiated. The two slipped simultaneously for about 25 s.Furthermore, the first had a nearly thrust slip while the second had both thrust and strike slip. It is interesting that the rupture velocity was not constant, and the whole process may be divided into 5 stages in which the velocities were estimated to be 1.4 km/s, 0 km/s, 2.1 km/s, 0 km/s and 1.1 km/s, respectively. The high-frequency sources distributed nearly along the lower edge of the rupture area, the highfrequency radiating mainly occurred at launching of the asperities, and it seemed that no high-frequency energy was radiated when the rupturing was going to stop.展开更多
AIM To investigate the current state of research output from Chinese studies into severe ulcerative colitis(SUC) using a bibliometric analysis of publications. METHODS The contents of the Chinese periodical databases ...AIM To investigate the current state of research output from Chinese studies into severe ulcerative colitis(SUC) using a bibliometric analysis of publications. METHODS The contents of the Chinese periodical databases WANFANG, VIP, and China National Knowledge Infrastructure were searched for all papers regarding UC or SUC published in last the 15 years (from 2001 to 2015). The number of publications in each year was recorded to assess the temporal trends of research output. All SUC related publications were downloaded and the complexity of this research was evaluated with methods described previously. The number of patients with SUC reported each year was recorded and their clinical characteristics were analyzed using information available in the relevant papers. RESULTS There were 13499 publications regarding UC published in Chinese medical journals between 2001 and 2015, of which 201 focused on SUC. The number of publications increased rapidly with more than half of all papers being published in the most recent 5-year period. There was a significant increase in analyticalstudies and clinical trials over the study period (P < 0.01), with research into the management of SUC, included pharmacotherapy, nutrition support as well as surgery, predominating. Almost half (46.2%) of the observational analytical studies and clinical trials focused on Traditional Chinese Medicine, with little research on the efficacy of cyclosporin and infliximab in disease management. About 6222 patients with SUC were reported in the 201 SUC relevant papers, with a ratio of male/female of 1.38. The number of patients reported in each 5-year period significantly increased. The colectomy rate and short-term mortality rate were 7.7% and 0.8% respectively. The most commonly employed operation was total proctocolectomy with ileal pouch-anal anastomosis.CONCLUSION The output and complexity of research related to SUC in China increased significantly over the previous 15 years, however few of these studies focused on salvage therapy.展开更多

文摘This study proposes a novel fractional discrete-time macroeconomic system with incommensurate order.The dynamical behavior of the proposed macroeconomic model is investigated analytically and numerically.In particular,the zero equilibrium point stability is investigated to demonstrate that the discrete macroeconomic system exhibits chaotic behavior.Through using bifurcation diagrams,phase attractors,the maximum Lyapunov exponent and the 0–1 test,we verified that chaos exists in the new model with incommensurate fractional orders.Additionally,a complexity analysis is carried out utilizing the approximation entropy(ApEn)and C_(0)complexity to prove that chaos exists.Finally,the main findings of this study are presented using numerical simulations.

文摘This paper proposes the alternating direction method of multipliers-based infinity-norm(ADMIN) with threshold(ADMIN-T) and with percentage(ADMIN-P) detection algorithms,which make full use of the distribution of the signal to interference plus noise ratio(SINR) for an uplink massive MIMO system.The ADMIN-T and ADMIN-P detection algorithms are improved visions of the ADMIN detection algorithm,in which an appropriate SINR threshold in the ADMIN-T detection algorithm and a certain percentage in the ADMIN-P detection algorithm are designed to reduce the overall computational complexity.The detected symbols are divided into two parts by the SINR threshold which is based on the cumulative probability density function(CDF) of SINR and a percentage,respectively.The symbols in higher SINR part are detected by MMSE.The interference of these symbols is then cancelled by successive interference cancellation(SIC).Afterwards the remaining symbols with low SINR are iteratively detected by ADMIN.The simulation results show that the ADMIIN-T and the ADMIN-P detection algorithms provide a significant performance gain compared with some recently proposed detection algorithms.In addition,the computational complexity of ADMIN-T and ADMIN-P are significantly reduced.Furthermore,in the case of same number of transceiver antennas,the proposed algorithms have a higher performance compared with the case of asymmetric transceiver antennas.

文摘Globally traffic signs are used by all countries for healthier traffic flow and to protect drivers and pedestrians.Consequently,traffic signs have been of great importance for every civilized country,which makes researchers give more focus on the automatic detection of traffic signs.Detecting these traffic signs is challenging due to being in the dark,far away,partially occluded,and affected by the lighting or the presence of similar objects.An innovative traffic sign detection method for red and blue signs in color images is proposed to resolve these issues.This technique aimed to devise an efficient,robust and accurate approach.To attain this,initially,the approach presented a new formula,inspired by existing work,to enhance the image using red and green channels instead of blue,which segmented using a threshold calculated from the correlational property of the image.Next,a new set of features is proposed,motivated by existing features.Texture and color features are fused after getting extracted on the channel of Red,Green,and Blue(RGB),Hue,Saturation,and Value(HSV),and YCbCr color models of images.Later,the set of features is employed on different classification frameworks,from which quadratic support vector machine(SVM)outnumbered the others with an accuracy of 98.5%.The proposed method is tested on German Traffic Sign Detection Benchmark(GTSDB)images.The results are satisfactory when compared to the preceding work.

文摘Several possible definitions of local injectivity for a homomorphism of an oriented graph G to an oriented graph H are considered. In each case, we determine the complexity of deciding whether there exists such a homomorphism when G is given and H is a fixed tournament on three or fewer vertices. Each possible definition leads to a locally-injective oriented colouring problem. A dichotomy theorem is proved in each case.
文摘This study,through a re-conceptualization of sociological complexity theory’s epistemological sources,specifically in Edgar Morin’s formulation,sheds light on the theoretical models as well as empirical methodologies of sociological analysis of today’s complex,interconnected,diverse and globalized society and global disorder.Complexity theory leads to a shift in perspective and a transformation of the epistemological status of social sciences with an in-depth intervention of disorder,contingency,case,singular,and non-repeatable in the sociological analysis.The notion of dialogic interplay is placed at the paradigm level and stands out at the heart of the concepts,analyzing the social system as auto-eco-organizer.Similarly,the notion of‘emergence’at macro-micro levels imposes itself as complex,logically requiring overcoming simple,linear thinking and model of explanation to adopt the perspective of organizational rotativity in which the product retroacts by transforming the one producing it,by conceiving a circularity of co-production between individuals and society through interactions.Declining epistemology and sociological complexity theory in the empirical methodology setting,the complex sociological approach is phenomenon-,event/information-and crisis-centered,privileging observation,participation-intervention,and‘live inquiry’.The open,in-depth and possibly non-directive interview is part of clinical sociological methodology,raising the question of the observer-phenomenon-observed relation.
文摘The vapor film collapse that occurs in the quenching process is complicated and affects the heat treatment quality and its distortion.In order to incorporate it into the MBD(Model Based Development)technology required these days,it is necessary to predict the quality of heat treatment by CAE(Computer Added Engineering),shorten the product development period.The calculation of the vapor film collapses in a simple and practical time in order to improve the product performance.However,in the past,in order to formulate the vapor film collapse on a simulation,it was necessary to perform a very large amount of computational calculation CFD(computational fluid dynamics),which was a problem in terms of computer resources and the model of vapor film collapse.In addition,this phenomenon has a complexity behavior of the phenomenon in iterative processing,which also complicates the calculation.In this study,the vapor film collapse phenomenon is easily visualized using self-organized cellular automaton simulation which includes the phenomena of“vapor film thickness and its fluctuation”,“flow disturbance”,“surface step of workpiece”,and“decrease of cooling due to r shape of surface”.The average cooling state and repeated fluctuations of the cooling state were reproduced by this method.

First, I shall investigate the function of the subclauses in the corpus in relation to their complexity, and I shall establish whether there is a correlation between sentence length and sentence complexity.Second, I shall analyse the complexity of the subclauses collected from the two sections and compare the results from these sections, focusing on finite subclauses and non-finite subclauses. I hope to be able to point out some differences in style between the news and sports sections concerning the use of subordinate clauses in various syntactic functions in order to examine how the choice of linguistic structures differs in different sections of The Times.

文摘In this paper, based on the following theoretical framework: Evolutionary Algorithms + Program Structures = Automatic Programming , some results on complexity of automatic programming for function modeling is given, which show that the complexity of automatic programming is an exponential function of the problem dimension N , the size of operator set ｜F｜ and the height of the program parse tree H . Following this results, the difficulties of automatic programming are discussed. Some function models discovered automatically from database by evolutionary modeling method are given, too.

文摘In millimeter wave(mmWave) multiple-input multiple-output(MIMO) systems, hybrid precoding has been widely used to overcome the severe propagation loss. In order to improve the spectrum efficiency with low complexity, we propose a joint hybrid precoding algorithm for single-user mmWave MIMO systems in this paper. By using the concept of equivalent channel, the proposed algorithm skillfully utilizes the idea of alternating optimization to complete the design of RF precoder and combiner. Then, the baseband precoder and combiner are computed by calculating the singular value decomposition of the equivalent channel. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm can achieve satisfactory performance with quite low complexity. Moreover, we investigate the effects of quantization on the analog components and find that the proposed scheme is effective even with coarse quantization.
文摘The objective was to study changes in EEG time-domain Kolmogorov complexity under different mental fatigue state and to evaluate mental fatigue using Lempel-Ziv complexity analysis of spontaneous EEG in healthy human subjects. EEG data for healthy subjects were acquired using a net of 2 electrodes (Fp1 and Fp2) at PM 4:00, AM 12:00 and AM 3:00 in the 24 hours sleep-deprived mental fatigue experiments. It was presented that initial results for eight subjects examined in three different mental fa-tigue state with 2-channel EEG time-domain Lempel-Ziv complexity computations. It was found that the value of mean Lempel-Ziv com-plexity corresponding to a special mental state fluctuates within the special range and the value of C(n) increases with mental fatigue increasing for the total frequency spectrum. The result in-dicates that the value of C(n) is strongly cor-relative with the mental fatigue state. These re-sults suggest that it may be possible to nonin-vasively differentiate different mental fatigue level according to the value of C(n) for particular mental state from scalp spontaneous EEG data. This method may be useful in further research and efforts to evaluate mental fatigue level ob-jectively. It may also provide a basis for the study of effects of mental fatigue on central neural system.

文摘It is an important issue to assess traffic situation complexity for air traffic management.There is a lack of systematic review of the existing air traffic complexity assessment methods,and there is no consideration of the role of airspace and traffic coordination mechanism.A new 3-D airspace complexity measurement method is proposed based on route structure constraints to evaluate the air traffic complexity objectively.Firstly,the model of the impact on horizontal and vertical direction for“aircraft pair”is established based on the route guidance.After that,the coupled complexity model for 3-D airspace is given according to the modification on the model in terms of flight standardization.Finally,the global model of the airspace traffic complexity is established.It is proved by the experimental data from the actual operation in airspace that the proposed model can reflect the space coupling situation and complexity of aircraft.At the same time,it can precisely describe the actual operation of civil aviation in China.
文摘Diabetes is a leading cause of mortality,morbidity and disability around the globe.In the past two decades,diabetes care has grown more complex as patients have received multi-component care.Recent studies have illumined the complexity of drug therapy in patients with diabetes.A high level of drug utilization in diabetes patients has serious implications for quality of care,in terms of coordination of care,drug safety and access to care.Practitioners,researchers,payers and policy makers should be aware of these implications and incorporate the complexity of diabetes care into practice guidelines,benefit design and policy formulation to improve the quality of care.

文摘On November 13, 2016, an MW7.8 earthquake struck Kaikoura in South Island of New Zealand. By means of back-projection of array recordings, ASTFs-analysis of global seismic recordings, and joint inversion of global seismic data and co-seismic In SAR data, we investigated complexity of the earthquake source. The result shows that the 2016 MW7.8 Kaikoura earthquake ruptured about 100 s unilaterally from south to northeast(~N28°–33°E), producing a rupture area about 160 km long and about 50 km wide and releasing scalar moment 1.01×1021 Nm. In particular, the rupture area consisted of two slip asperities, with one close to the initial rupture point having a maximal slip value ~6.9 m while the other far away in the northeast having a maximal slip value ~9.3 m. The first asperity slipped for about 65 s and the second one started 40 s after the first one had initiated. The two slipped simultaneously for about 25 s.Furthermore, the first had a nearly thrust slip while the second had both thrust and strike slip. It is interesting that the rupture velocity was not constant, and the whole process may be divided into 5 stages in which the velocities were estimated to be 1.4 km/s, 0 km/s, 2.1 km/s, 0 km/s and 1.1 km/s, respectively. The high-frequency sources distributed nearly along the lower edge of the rupture area, the highfrequency radiating mainly occurred at launching of the asperities, and it seemed that no high-frequency energy was radiated when the rupturing was going to stop.

文摘AIM To investigate the current state of research output from Chinese studies into severe ulcerative colitis(SUC) using a bibliometric analysis of publications. METHODS The contents of the Chinese periodical databases WANFANG, VIP, and China National Knowledge Infrastructure were searched for all papers regarding UC or SUC published in last the 15 years (from 2001 to 2015). The number of publications in each year was recorded to assess the temporal trends of research output. All SUC related publications were downloaded and the complexity of this research was evaluated with methods described previously. The number of patients with SUC reported each year was recorded and their clinical characteristics were analyzed using information available in the relevant papers. RESULTS There were 13499 publications regarding UC published in Chinese medical journals between 2001 and 2015, of which 201 focused on SUC. The number of publications increased rapidly with more than half of all papers being published in the most recent 5-year period. There was a significant increase in analyticalstudies and clinical trials over the study period (P < 0.01), with research into the management of SUC, included pharmacotherapy, nutrition support as well as surgery, predominating. Almost half (46.2%) of the observational analytical studies and clinical trials focused on Traditional Chinese Medicine, with little research on the efficacy of cyclosporin and infliximab in disease management. About 6222 patients with SUC were reported in the 201 SUC relevant papers, with a ratio of male/female of 1.38. The number of patients reported in each 5-year period significantly increased. The colectomy rate and short-term mortality rate were 7.7% and 0.8% respectively. The most commonly employed operation was total proctocolectomy with ileal pouch-anal anastomosis.CONCLUSION The output and complexity of research related to SUC in China increased significantly over the previous 15 years, however few of these studies focused on salvage therapy.
