By analyzing the output voltage ripple of a buck-boost converter with large equivalent series resistance(ESR) of output capacitor, one valley voltage-mode controller for buck-boost converter is proposed. Considering the fact that the increasing and decreasing slopes of the inductor current are assumed to be constant during each switching cycle, an especial sampleddata model of valley voltage-mode controlled buck-boost converter is established. Based on this model, the dynamical effect of an output-capacitor time-constant on the valley voltage-mode controlled buck-boost converter is revealed and analyzed via the bifurcation diagrams, the movements of eigenvalues, the Lyapunov exponent spectra, the boundary equations,and the operating-state regions. It is found that with gradual reduction of output-capacitor time-constant, the buck-boost converter in continuous conduction mode(CCM) shows the evolutive dynamic behavior from period-1 to period-2, period-4, period-8, chaos, and invalid state. The stability boundary and the invalidated boundary are derived theoretically by stability analysis, where the stable state of valley voltage-mode controlled buck-boost converter can enter into an unstable state, and the converter can shift from the operation region to a forbidden region. These results verified by time-domain waveforms and phase portraits of both simulation and experiment indicate that the sampled-data model is correct and the time constant of the output capacitor is a critical factor for valley voltage-mode controlled buck-boost converter, which has a significant effect on the dynamics as well as control stability. 展开更多

A discrete iterative map model of V^2C control boost converter was established to study the dynamical behaviors of the converter. By using parameter space map and bifurcation diagram, the effects of circuit parameters on the bifurcation behaviors of V^2C control and current-mode control boost converters were analyzed. The phase portraits and time-domain waveforms of the V^2C control boost converter were obtained by Runge-Kutta algorithm through piecewise smooth switching model. The research results indicate that V^2C control boost converters can evolve into periodic and chaotic behaviors, and show weaker nonlinear behaviors than current-mode control boost converters. 展开更多

A comprehensive predictive strategy was proposed for the neutral-point balancing control of back-to-back three-level converters. The phase currents at both sides and the DC-link capacitor voltages were measured for the prediction of the neutral-point current. A quality function was found to balance the neutral-point, and a metabolic on-times distribution factor was used as a predicator to minimize the quality function at each switching state. Simulation results show that the proposed method produces smaller ripples in tested signals compared with the established one, namely, 9.15% less in a total harmonic distortion(THD) of line-to-line voltage, 1.08% less in the THD of phase current, and 0.9 V less in the ripple of the neutral-point voltage. The obtained experimental results show that the main harmonics of the line-to-line voltage and the phase current in the proposed method are improved by 10 d B and 6 d B, respectively, and the ripple of neutral-point voltage is halved compared to the established one. 展开更多

The resiliency of a standalone microgrid is of considerable issue because the available regulation measures and capabilities are limited.Given this background,this paper presented a new mathematical model for a detailed photovoltaic(PV)module and the application of new control techniques for efficient energy extraction.The PV module employs a single-stage conversion method to integrate it with the utility grid.For extraction the maximum power from PV and integrate it to power grid,a three-phase voltage source converter is used.For obtaining the maximum power at a particular irradiance a maximum power point tracking(MPPT)scheme is used.The fuzzy logic control and adaptive network-based fuzzy inference system are proposed for direct current(DC)link voltage control.The proposed model and control scheme are validated through a comparison with the standard power-voltage and current-voltage charts for a PV module.Simulation results demonstrate that the system stability can be maintained with the power grid and in the island mode,in contrast with the MPPT. 展开更多

Controller models are set up, and the over-current limit operation principles of analogy and digital control are analyzed too. An 800VA aeronautical power supply bas been constructed to verify the performance of the proposed control strategy in various cases such as the sudden load change and the constant load. The method to predict the steady-state and dynamic perfor-mance of the converter with load independent operation has been presented. The proposed converter has been analyzed with the closed-loop and open-loop conditions. The simple form of transfer function for SPRC is developed, and it is used to analyze the stability of the converter with closed-loop operation. The stability analy-sis of the converter is carried out by using frequency response plan. The fuzzy controller regulates the output voltage with change supply voltage and load disturbance. Many conventional switching power supplies in input AC line voltage and filtering it with large electrolytic computers and low power motor drive systems operate by rectifying the capacitors. This results in undesirable side effects such as the generation of distorted input current waveform. The input power factor is also poor. Further, the input current has the shape of narrow pulses, which in turn increases its value. The reduction in input current harmonics and improved power factor operation of motor drive systems and switching power supplies are important from the energy saving point of view and also to satisfy the harmonic standards. This paper proposes a full bridge PWM rectifier with load current feedforward. The proposed approach has some advantages, including a quick response for the load fluctuation, the reduction of the number of sensors and simplified control, as compared with the conventional methods. From simulated results, it is clarified that the proposed control method is effective and useful. 展开更多

This paper presents an auto-tuning method for a proportion plus integral(PI) controller for permanent magnet synchronous motor(PMSM) drives, which is supposed to be embedded in electro-mechanical actuator(EMA) control module in aircraft. The method, based on a relay feedback with variable delay time, explores different critical points of the system frequency response.The Nyquist points of the plant can then be derived from the delay time and filter time constant.The coefficients of the PI controller can then be obtained by calculation while shifting the Nyquist point to a specific position to obtain the required phase margin. The major advantage of the autotuning method is that it can provide a series of tuning results for different system bandwidths and damping ratios, corresponding to the specification for delay time and phase margin. Simulation and experimental results for the PMSM controller verify the performance of both the current loop and the speed loop auto-tuning. 展开更多

Reaction flywheel is a significant actuator for satellites' attitude control. To improve output torque and rotational speed accuracy for reaction flywheel, this paper reviews the modeling and control approaches of DC-DC converters and presents an application of the variable structure system theory with associated sliding regimes. Firstly, the topology of reaction flywheel is constructed. The small signal linearization process for a buck converter is illustrated. Then, based on the state averaging models and reaching qualification expressed by the Lee derivative, the general results of the sliding mode control (SMC) are analyzed. The analytical equivalent control laws for reaction flywheel are deduced detailedly by selecting various sliding surfaces at electromotion, energy consumption braking, reverse connection braking stages. Finally, numerical and experimental examples are presented for illustrative purposes. The results demonstrate that favorable agreement is established between the simulations and experiments. The proposed control strategy achieves preferable rotational speed regulation, strong rejection of modest disturbances, and high-precision output torque and rotational speed tracking abilities. 展开更多

Establishing a suitable closed-loop transfer function model for the grid-connected PMSG system is the key basis in performing inter-harmonic characteristics analysis.Multiple closed-loop transfer functions can be constructed when different components of the converter controller are taken into account.However,the effect of different components of the converter controller on inter-harmonic stability analysis is not clear.In this paper,the complete transfer function,considering different loops,is first given.Based on the complete closed-loop transfer function,the DC-link,PLL and voltage forward-feed are removed step by step to derive different closed-loop transfer functions.The inter-harmonic related poles of different closed-loop transfer functions are further calculated to analyze the effect of closedloop transfer functions on inter-harmonic characteristics analysis.Finally,by performing time domain simulation,the correctness of the theoretical analysis results is verified.The results show that under the conditions of a weak AC system,each loop of the converter control system will reduce the stability of the interharmonic in the sub-synchronous frequency range and influence the inter-harmonic oscillation frequency.The transfer function needs to consider the influence of each loop to accurately calculate the inter-harmonic stability of the system. 展开更多
