The influence parame-ters were examlned. The results show that the separation of Cu^2+ and Ni" from sulphate medium can be realized by adjusting pH value with the help of Lix984N. For extracting Cu^2+ and Ni^2+, the optimal pH values are 4 and 10.5, and the maximal extraction percentages are 92.9% and 93.0%, respectively .With recovered Cu^2+ and Ni^2+ stripped in 170g.L^ -1 and 200 g.L^-1 H2SO4 medium, the stripping percentages of Cu^2+ and Ni^2+ are 92.9% and 93.0%, respectively. This method is simple and can be used to recover Cu^2+ and Ni^2+ from plating wastewater. And a flow sheet for separation of Cu^2+ and Ni^2+ is presented.展开更多

The structure of this complex consists of 2D network of copper(II) ions bridged by bis-tridentate oxen in transconformation, and by pyridine-4-carboxylate in which the pyridine ring acts as a monodentate group whereas the carboxylate as a tridentate group and bonds to three different copper centres in a novel fashion. The repeating asymmetric unit is a binuclear copper(II) fragment with one of the copper centre locating in a lengthening octahedrat environment, whereas the other in a distorted tetragonal pyramid geometry.展开更多

It has been shown that the CuDP (copper(II), doxycycline, and 1,10-phenanthroline) complex cleaves DNA strands by an oxidative mechanism and by intercalating the major groove, resulting in a cytotoxic action. The objective of this study was to assess the mutageinc/recombinogenic effects of the CuDP complex in vivo using the SMART (Somatic Mutation and Recombination Test) in Drosophila melanogaster. Treatments were carried out with third instar larvae at the standard cross and high bioactivation cross using three concentrations of CuDP (6.92, 13.84 or 27.67 mM). The mutagenic doxorubicin (0.4 mM) was used as a positive control and reverse osmosis water as a negative control. For each compound, marked trans-heterozygous and balanced heterozygous individuals were analyzed to determine the mutational and recombinogenic events occurring in the cells, We found that CuDP significantly increased the frequencies of mutant cells in both standard and high bioactivation crosses, mostly by induction of recombination. These data show that CuDP is a direct recombinogenic agent that is independent of bioactivation,展开更多

X-ray crystal structure analysis revealed amino acid derivative Schiff base copper(II) complexes were obtained. Herein we discuss primarily on the binding mode of copper(II) of the complexes obtained with egg white lysozyme. The electron density of copper(II) ions was confirmed by X-ray crystal structure analysis. The Val derivative Schiff base copper(II) complex was weakly bound at Arg114 of egg white lysozyme. In other copper(II) complexes, binding of copper(II) ions with dissociated ligands to various residues was observed. The binding sites of copper(II) ions were compared with computational scientific predictions.展开更多

Two of the existing methods for analyzing spectrophotometric measurements have been applied for establishing, the stoichiometry and whenever possible, the stability constants of the chelates formed. The method of continuous variations was necessary to determine first whether, the metal ion and the ligand ethylene diamine form one or more than one chelate, when more than one chelate formed, the results obtained depend on the wavelength and for meaningful conclusions the wavelengths were carefully selected. The empirical formulae of the chelates were further substantiated by the molar ratio method. The effect of time and temperature on the formation and stability of these chelates in solution is also studied. The stability constants, K1 and K2 for the copper (II) chelates were calculated, though reliable, and are comparable to literature values.展开更多

Among several spectroscopic investigations, ESR clearly showed that the nitrogen atom of the amino acid residue of lysozyme was bound to the paramagnetic copper(II) ion of the complex, and UV light irradiation confirmed photoisomerization of the azobenzene moiety of the ligand to cis-form. The binding mode was considered by means of spectroscopic as well as computational methods, whereas complete crystallographic verification was still a preliminary stage.展开更多
