This paper aims to emulate realistic multi-Path propagation channels in terms of angles of arrivals (AoA) and cross-polarization ratio (XPR) with Rayleigh fading, inside an anechoic chamber, for antenna diversity measurements. In this purpose, a practical multi-probe anechoic chamber measurement system (MPAC) with 24 probe antennas (SATIMO SG24) has been used. However, the actual configuration of this system is not able to reproduce realistic channels. Therefore, a new method based on the control of the SG24 probes has been developed. At first time, this method has been validated numerically through the comparison of simulated and analytical AoA probability density distributions. At the second time, the performance of an antenna diversity system inside the SG24 has been performed in terms of the correlation coefficient and diversity gain (DG) using an antenna reference system. Simulated and measurements results have shown a good agreement.展开更多

To counter this problem, a new wireless transmission technology based on Zero-Padding Carrier Interferometry OFDM (ZP-CI/OFDM) is proposed. In a ZP-CI/OFDM system, transmission symbols are spread to all OFDM subcarriers via carrier interferometry codes. This reduces the Peak-to-Average Power Ratio (PAPR) that traditional OFDM suffers and also exploits frequency diversity gain. By zero-padding at the transmitter, advanced receiver technologies can be adopted for ZP-CI/OFDM so that frequency diversity gain can be further utilized and the power efficiency of the system is improved.展开更多

A Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) antenna system can enhance the overall antenna performance but at having to overcome new challenges such as reducing the mutual coupling and the correlation between the elements. A printed circular disc compact planar antenna is selected in this work due to its UWB performance and compact size for the MIMO antenna system. A parametric analysis is carried out to achieve an optimal design. The system developed consists of two elements with an overall size of 59 × 27 mm. The designed antenna system operates over the whole of the UWB bandwidth from 3.1 to 10.6 GHz with radiation efficiency up to 85% and reflection coefficients less that ?10 dB. The envelope correlation is less than ?60 dB throughout the UWB band while the diversity gain approaches 10 throughout the entire UWB bandwidth and Total Active Reflection Coefficient (TARC) between the antenna elements is less ?11 dB. Thus the proposed MIMO antenna outperforms similar antenna systems reported in the literature.展开更多

In particular, we consider a secondary multi-relay network operating in the selection decode-and-forward(SDF) mode and propose a best-relay selection criterion which takes into account the spectrum-sharing constraint and interference. Based on these assumptions, the closed-form expression of the outage probability of secondary transmissions is derived. We find that a floor of the outage probability occurs in high signal-to-noise ratio(SNR) regions due to the joint effect of the constraint and the interference from the PU. In addition, we propose a generalized definition of the diversity gain for such systems and show that a full diversity order is achieved. Simulation results verify our theoretical solutions.展开更多

The combination of satellite component (SC) and terrestrial component (TC) promises a better quality of service (QoS). Multimedia broadcast and multicast services (MBMS) are expected to be prevailed in this kind of system. Several space frequency (SF) or space time (ST) codes have been proposed to enhance the system performance due to the lack of reverse link and omni-directional transmission. However, they mostly consider the system with only one SC and one TC and fail to make full use of available diversities. This paper presents a novel way to realize the dual polarization multiple input multiple output (MIMO) transmission by using the space time frequency (STF) code. The theoretical analysis and simulations indicate that the application of STF code can improve the system performance dramatically. A higher diversity gain can be achieved due to the cooperative transmission of SC and TC, while the coding gain can be enhanced by the reusing of STF code between SCs or TCs. Even if some of the links are lost, it can still work properly and benefit from the STF code. The relative relay can result in a degradation up to 0.5 dB in the coding gain.展开更多
