Based on the distribution characteristic of magnetic field along the polish wheel,the four-axis linkage technique is advanced to replace a standard five-axis one to figure low-gradient optical surfaces with a raster t...Based on the distribution characteristic of magnetic field along the polish wheel,the four-axis linkage technique is advanced to replace a standard five-axis one to figure low-gradient optical surfaces with a raster tool-path in magnetorheological finishing(MRF).After introducing the fundaments of such simplification,the figuring reachability of a four-axis system for the low-gradient optics was theoretically analyzed.Further validation including magnetic field intensity and influence function characteristic was performed to establish its application.To demonstrate the correctness,feasibility and applicability of such technique,a K4 spherical part was figured by two iterations of MRF with surface form error improved to 0.219λPV and 0.027λRMS.Meanwhile,the surface roughness was also improved a lot in MRF process.These theoretical analyses and experimental results both indicate that high form accuracy and excellent surface quality can be obtained by using the four-axis linkage technique in the process of figuring low-gradient optical elements,and the four-axis linkage system undoubtedly is much more easy to control and much more economical.展开更多
Simultaneous dyeing and durable press finishing of cotton fabrics with acid dyes bearing the different molecule structure and durable press finishing agent (DP agent abbr.) based on modified DMDHEU were investigated b...Simultaneous dyeing and durable press finishing of cotton fabrics with acid dyes bearing the different molecule structure and durable press finishing agent (DP agent abbr.) based on modified DMDHEU were investigated by using the pad-dry-cure process. Some factors affecting the process, such as structure of acid dyes, DP agent, catalysts and curing temperature were discussed. The dyed and finished fabrics were evaluated with respect to color strength, fixation, crease recovery angle, breaking strength and fastness properties. The results indicate that structure of acid dyes has a striking effect on the color strength of dyed and finished cotton fabric. The color strength and dry crease recovery angle of dyed and finished cotton fabric increases, whereas breaking strength decreases with increasing concentration of DP agent. It is necessary for ammonium nitrate to serve as catalyst. It is found that relatively satisfactory properties of dyed and finished cotton fabric can be obtained with appropriate adjustment of treating conditions.展开更多

A distinctive method is proposed by simply utilizing ultrasonic technique in Ti02 electrode fabrication in order to improve the optoelectronic performance of dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). Dye molecules are at ...A distinctive method is proposed by simply utilizing ultrasonic technique in Ti02 electrode fabrication in order to improve the optoelectronic performance of dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). Dye molecules are at random and single molecular state in the ultrasonic field and the ultrasonic wave favors the diffusion and adsorption processes of dye molecules. As a result, the introduction of ultrasonic technique at room temperature leads to faster and more well-distributed dye adsorption on TiO2 as well as higher cell efficiency than regular deposition, thus the fabrication time is markedly reduced. It is found that the device based on 40 kHz ultrasonic (within 1 h) with N719 exhibits a Voc of 789 mV, Jsc of 14.94 mA]cm2 and fill factor (FF) of 69.3, yielding power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 8.16%, which is higher than device regularly dyed for 12 h (PCE = 8.06%). In addition, the DSSC devices obtain the best efficiency (PCE = 8.68%) when the ultrasonic deposition time increases to 2.5 h. The DSSCs fabricated via ultrasonic technique presents more dye loading, larger photocurrent, less charge recombination and higher photovoltage. The charge extraction and electron impedance spectroscopy (EIS) were performed to understand the influence of ultrasonic technique on the electron recombination and performance of DSSCs.展开更多

This studio practice seeks to ex...Batik fabric is an integral part of the traditional cloth culture of the Ghanaian traditional setting. However, the batik fabric has marginal usage due to its casual visual appearance. This studio practice seeks to explore the epiphanic revival in the use of metallic finishes on batik substrate to create an enhanced visual appearance with embellished aesthetic sensibilities and diversified use. The researchers adopted the studio-based approach of the qualitative design to manipulate handmade tools, techniques (collagraph) and the batik fabrics through experimentation to produce a glittering mercurial batik fabric which is typically an industrial practice. The studio practice took place at the Textile Design and Technology studio, Takoradi Technical University, Ghana. The traditional batik fabric was manipulated through fabric decoration techniques in accordance with studio-based practices. The Addie model was adopted as a methodological approach in the analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation processes of the experimentation processes of the study. Findings revealed that the hand techniques used in the production process for the metallic prints produced interesting accidentals finishes and effects that machine work cannot achieve, producing new discoveries of visual enhancements of traditional batik fabric. Traditional batiks became mercurial with glittery effects. The metallic prints on the fabric also changed its consumption pattern from mere casual fabric to classic and cosmopolitan fabric for varied uses suitable for wearable to non-wearable.展开更多

METHODS: From June 1999 through March 2000, 180 consecuti...AIM: To clarify whether mucosal crypt patterns observed with magnifying colonoscopy are feasible to distinguish non-neoplastic polyps from neoplastic polyps. METHODS: From June 1999 through March 2000, 180 consecutive patients with 210 lesions diagnosed with a magnifying colonoscope (CF-200Z, Olympus Optical Co., Ltd., Tokyo, Japan) were enrolled. Magnification and chromoendoscopy with 0.2% indigo-carmine dye was applied to each lesion for mucosal crypt observation. Lesions showing types Ⅰ and Ⅱ crypt patterns were considered non-neoplastic and examined histologically by biopsy, whereas lesions showing types Ⅲ to Ⅴ crypt patterns were removed endoscopically or surgically. The correlation of endoscopic diagnosis and histologic diagnosis was then investigated. RESULTS: At endoscopy, 24 lesions showed a type Ⅰ or Ⅱ pit pattern, and 186 lesions showed type Ⅲ to Ⅴ pit patterns. With histologic examination, 26 lesions were diagnosed as non-neoplastic polyps, and 184 lesions were diagnosed as neoplastic polyps. The overall diagnostic accuracy was 99.1% (208/210). The sensitivity and specificity were 92.3% (24/26) and 99.8% (184/186), respectively. CONCLUSION: Magnifying colonoscopy could be used as a non-biopsy technique for differentiating neoplastic and non-neoplastic polyps.展开更多

Productivity is a very important element in the process of construction project management especially with regard to the estimation of the duration of the construction activities, this study aims at developing constru...Productivity is a very important element in the process of construction project management especially with regard to the estimation of the duration of the construction activities, this study aims at developing construction productivity estimating model for marble finishing works of floors using Multivariable Linear Regression technique (MLR). The model was developed based on 100 set of data collected in Iraq for different types of projects such as residential, commercial and educational projects. Which these are used in developing the model and evaluating its performance. Ten influencing factors are utilized for productivity forecasting by MLR model, and they include age, experience, number of the assist labor, height of the floor, size of the marbles tiles, security conditions, health status for the work team, weather conditions, site condition, and availability of construction materials. One model was built for the prediction of the productivity of marble finishing works for floors. It was found that MLR have the ability to predict the productivity for finishing works with excellent degree of accuracy of the coefficient of correlation (R) 90.6%, and average accuracy percentage of 96.3%. This indicates that the relationship between the independent and independent variables of the developed models is good and the predicted values from a forecast model fit with the real-life data.展开更多

Commonly used mapping techniques utilizing the combination of radiocolloid and blue dye may result in reduced SLN detection and increased false negative rates when applied to cancers with more complex lymphatic drainage patterns. Novel localization techniques includingnear infrared fluorescence, high resolution imaging and molecular targeted agents have been developed to address the limitations of conventional SLN detection practices in many solid tumor types. This article reviews the indications, techniques and detection rates for SLN biopsy in several different solid tumor types as well as the promising novel techniques created to address the contemporary limitations of this procedure.展开更多
