文摘Gas identification and concentration measurements are important for both understanding and monitoring a variety of phenomena from industrial processes to environmental change. Here a novel mid-IR plasmonic gas sensor with on-chip direct readout is proposed based on unity integration of narrowband spectral response, localized field enhancement and thermal detection.A systematic investigation consisting of both optical and thermal simulations for gas sensing is presented for the first time in three sensing modes including refractive index sensing, absorption sensing and spectroscopy, respectively. It is found that a detection limit less than 100 ppm for CO2 could be realized by a combination of surface plasmon resonance enhancement and metal-organic framework gas enrichment with an enhancement factor over 8000 in an ultracompact optical interaction length of only several microns.Moreover,on-chip spectroscopy is demonstrated with the compressive sensing algorithm via a narrowband plasmonic sensor array. An array of 80 such sensors with an average resonance linewidth of 10 nm reconstructs the CO2 molecular absorption spectrum with the estimated resolution of approximately 0.01 nm far beyond the state-of-the-art spectrometer. The novel device design and analytical method are expected to provide a promising technique for extensive applications of distributed or portable mid-IR gas sensor.

文摘Ammonia detection possesses great potential in atmosphere environmental protection, agriculture, industry, and rapid medical diagnosis. However,it still remains a great challenge to balance the sensitivity, selectivity, working temperature, and response/recovery speed. In this work,Berlin green(BG)framework is demonstrated as a highly promising sensing material for ammonia detection by both density functional theory simulation and experimental gas sensing investigation.Vacancy in BG framework offers abundant active sites for ammonia absorption, and the absorbed ammonia transfers sufficient electron to BG,arousing remarkable enhancement of resistance.Pristine BG framework shows remarkable response to ammonia at 50–110°C with the highest response at 80°C,which is jointly influenced by ammonia’s absorption onto BG surface and insertion into BG lattice. The sensing performance of BG can hardly be achieved at room temperature due to its high resistance.Introduction of conductive Ti3CN MXene overcomes the high resistance of pure BG framework, and the simply prepared BG/Ti3CN mixture shows high selectivity to ammonia at room temperature with satisfying response/recovery speed.

文摘Hazardous gases have been strongly associated with being a detriment to human life within the environment The development of a reliable gas sensor with high response and selectivity is of great signifcance for detecting different hazardous gases.TiO_(2) nanomaterials are promising candidates with great potential and excellent per-formance in gas sensor applications, such as hydrogen, acetone, ammonia, and ethanol detection. This review begins with a detailed discussion of the di ferent dimensional morphologies of TiO_(2),whitch affect the gas sensing performance of TiO_(2) sensors. The diverse morphologies of TiO_(2) can easily be tuned by regulating the manufacturing conditions.Meanwhile, they exhibit unique characteristics for detecting gases, including large specific suface area, superior elecron tr ansport rates, extraordinary pemmeability, and active reaction sites, which offer new opportunities to improve the gas sensing properties. In addition,a variety of efforts have been made to functional TiO_(2) nanomaterials to further enhance sensing properties, including TiO_(2)-based composites and light-assisted gas sensors. The enhanced gas sensing mechanisms of multi-component composite nano-materials based on TiO_(2) include loaded noble metals, doped elements, constructed heterojunctions, and com-pounded with other functional materials. Finally, several studies have been summarized to demonstate the compar ative sensing properties of TiO_(2)-based gas sensors.
文摘Layered Surface Acoustic Wave (SAW) devices with an InO_x/SiN_u/36°YX LiTaO_3 structure were investigated for sensing low concentrations of hydrogen (H_2) and ozone (O_3) at different operating temperatures. The sensor consists of a 1μm thick silicon nitride (SiN_y) intermediate layer deposited by electron beam evaporation on a 36°Y-cut X-propagating piezoelectric lithium tantalate (LiTaO_3) substrate and a 100 nm thin indium oxide (InO_x) sensing layer deposited by R.F.magnetron sputtering. The device fabrication is described and the performance of the sensor is analyzed in terms of response magnitude as a function of operating temperature.Large frequency shifts of 360 kHz for 600μg/g of H_2 and 92 kHz for 40 ng/g O_3 were recorded. In addition, the surface morphology of the deposited films were investigated by Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) and the chemical composition by X-Ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS) to correlate gas-sensing behavior to structural characteristics of the thin film.

文摘In this paper,ultra-long and large-scaled ZnO microwire arrays are grown by the chemical vapor deposition method, and a single ZnO microwire-based non-balanced electric bridge ethanol gas sensor is fabricated. The experimental results show that the gas sensor has good repeatability, high response rate, short response, and recovery time at room temperature(25℃).The response rate of the gas sensor exposed to 90-ppm ethanol is about 93%,with a response time and recovery time are 0.3 s and 0.7 s respectively. As a contrast, the traditional resistive gas sensor of a single ZnO microwire shows very small gas response rate. Therefore, ethanol gas sensor based on non-balanced electric bridge can obviously enhance gas sensing characteristics, which provides a feasible method of developing the high performance ZnO-based gas sensor.
文摘The sensitivity and selectivity of gas sensors are related with not only sensing material, but also their operating temperatures.Applying this property, temperature modulation technique has been proposed to improve the selectivity of gas sensors. With a newly developed alumina based micro gas sensor, the sensitivity to CO and CH_4 at different operating temperatures was investigated.By modulating the temperature of the sensor at pulse and sine wave modes with different frequencies and amplitudes, the dynamic responses of the sensor were measured and processed. Results show that the modulating waveshape plays an important role in the improvement of selectivity, while the influence of frequency is small at the suitable sampling frequency in the range of 25 mHz~200 mHz.
文摘SnO_(2)/Co_(3)O_(4)nanofibers(NFs)are synthesized by using a homopolar electrospinning system with double jets of positive polarity electric fields. The morphology and structure of SnO_(2)/Co_(3)O_(4)hetero-nanofibers are characterized by using field emission scanning electron microscope(FE-SEM),transmission electron microscope(TEM),x-ray diffraction(XRD),and x-ray photoelectron spectrometer(XPS).The analyses of SnO_(2)/Co_(3)O_(4)NFs by EDS and HRTEM show that the cobalt and tin exist on one nanofiber, which is related to the homopolar electrospinning and the crystallization during sintering. As a typical n-type semiconductor,Sn O_(2)has the disadvantages of high optimal operating temperature and poor reproducibility.Comparing with Sn O_(2),the optimal operating temperature of SnO_(2)/Co_(3)O_(4)NFs is reduced from 350℃to 250℃,which may be related to the catalysis of Co_(2)O_(2).The response of SnO_(2)/Co_(3)O_(4)to 100-ppm ethanol at 250℃is 50.9,9 times higher than that of pure Sn O_(2),which may be attributed to the p–n heterojunction between the n-type Sn O_(2)crystalline grain and the p-type Co_(2)O_(2)crystalline grain. The nanoscale p–n heterojunction promotes the electron migration and forms an interface barrier. The synergy effects between Sn O_(2)and Co_(2)O_(2),the crystalline grain p–n heterojunction, the existence of nanofibers and the large specific surface area all jointly contribute to the improved gas sensing performance.

文摘Preparation of large mesoporous tin dioxide (lm-SnO_2) under various conditions was attempted by utilizing a self-assembly of a triblock copolymer,P123:(EO)_(20)(PO)_(70)(EO)_(20) or F127:(EO)_(106)(PO)_(70)(EO)_(106)(EO:ethylene oxide and PO: propylene oxide). The sensor fabricated from calcined lm-SnO_2 powder, which had been prepared by using P123 as a template,Na_2SnO_3 as a tin source, and TEOS as an additive ([TEOS]/[Na_2SnO_3]=0.5 in the precursor solution),showed the largest response to 1×10^(-3) hydrogen at 350℃among the sensors tested. The existence of two kinds of SnO_2 particles with different sizes (ca.100 nm and several nm in diameter) may be important to improve the hydrogen sensing properties drastically.

文摘ZnSnO_(3) microspheres was compounded by hydrothermal method with sodium alginate(SA)as a crystal growth modifier, and the Au nanoparticles were decorated on the surface of ZnSnO_(3) microspheres by simple solution method and heat treatment process. The structure and morphology of the prepared samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD)and scanning electron microscopy(SEM).Under ultraviolet(UV)irradiation, the 0.2wt%Au/ZnSnO_(3)@4g/L SA sensor could detect HCHO and reached a good response of 18.8 at 20 ppm, which was three times higher than the ZnSnO_(3) in the absence of Au.This sensor also performed an outstanding linearity within 5-20 ppm HCHO and satisfied repeatability. Moreover, the possible mechanism of the influence of Au on gas sensitivity is also proposed.
