Hybrid beamforming techniques have attracted much attention for solving the high path loss of mmWave and further reducing the hardware cost of the system. However, the related studies based on multicarrier and fully-connected hybrid architectures are still limited. For this reason, this paper investigates the orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) based mmWave fully-connected hybrid architecture ISAC system to form a stable communication beam and dynamically varying sensing beam. In order to realize the aforementioned multifunctional beams, the hybrid beamformer design problem based on weighted error minimization of multicarrier is proposed and solved efficiently using the penalty dual decomposition (PDD) algorithm. Meanwhile, based on the echo model, the multicarrier multiple signal classification (MUSIC) algorithm for target angle of arrival estimation and the two-dimensional discrete Fourier transform(2D-DFT)algorithm for distance and velocity estimation are proposed, respectively. Numerical simulation results show that by adjusting the weighting factor,a flexible trade-off can be formed between the communication spectrum efficiency and the sensing accuracy error.展开更多

Meanwhile, analog beamforming which is implemented with phase shifters has high availability but suffers poor performance. Considering the advantages of above two, a potential solution is to design an appropriate hybrid analog and digital beamforming structure, where the available iterative optimization algorithm can get performance close to fully digital processing, but solving this sparse optimization problem faces with a high computational complexity. The key challenge of seeking out hybrid beamforming (HBF) matrices lies in leveraging the trade-off between the spectral efficiency performance and the computational complexity. In this paper, we propose an asymptotically unitary hybrid precoding (AUHP) algorithm based on antenna array response (AAR) properties to solve the HBF optimization problem. Firstly, we get the optimal orthogonal analog and digital beamforming matrices relying on the channel's path gain in absolute value by taking into account that the AAR matrices are asymptotically unitary. Then, an improved simultaneously orthogonal matching pursuit (SOMP) algorithm based on recursion is adopted to refine the hybrid combining. Numerical results demonstrate that our proposed AUHP algorithm enables a lower computational complexity with negligible spectral efficiency performance degradation.展开更多

Two structures of HBF exist in the mm Wave mobile backhaul system, namely, the fully connected structures( FCS) and partially connected structures( PCS). However, the existing methods cannot be applied to both structures. Moreover, the ideal phase shifter is considered in some current HBF methods, which is not realistic. In this paper,a HBF algorithm for both structures based on the discrete phase shifters is proposed in the mm Wave mobile backhaul systems. By using the principle of alternating minimization, the optimization problem of HBF is decomposed into a DBF optimization problem and an analog beamforming( ABF) optimization problem. Then the least square( LS) method is enabled to solve the optimization model of DBF. In addition, the achievable data rate for both structures with closed-form expression which can be used to convert the optimization model into a single-stream beamforming optimization model with per antenna power constraint is derived. Therefore, the ABF is easily solved. Simulation results show that the performance of the proposed HBF method can approach the full DBF by using a lower resolution phase shifter.展开更多

This paper develops an energy-efficiency based multi-user hybrid beamforming for downlink millimeter wave(mm Wave) massive MIMO systems. To make better use of directivity gains of the analog beamforming and flexible baseband processing of the digital beamforming, this paper proposes the analog beamforming to select the optimal beam which can maximize the power of the objective user and minimize the interference to all other users. In addition, the digital beamforming maximizes the energy efficiency of the objective user with zero-gradient-based approach. Simulation results show the proposed algorithm provide better bit error rate(BER) performance compared with the traditional hybrid beamforming and obviously improved the sum rate with the increase in the number of users. It is proved that multi-user MIMO(MU-MIMO) can be a perfect candidate for mm Wave massive MIMO communication system. Furthermore, the analog beamforming can mitigate the inter-user interference more effectively with the selection of the optimal beam and the digital beamforming can greatly improve the system performance through flexible baseband processing.展开更多

Fortunately, the hybrid beamforming(HBF) is proposed to overcome these limitations by splitting the beamforming process between the analog and digital domains. In recent works, most HBF schemes improve the spectral efficiency based on greedy algorithms. However, the iterative process in greedy algorithms leads to high computational complexity. In this paper, a new method is proposed to achieve a reasonable compromise between complexity and performance. The novel algorithm utilizes the low-complexity Gram-Schmidt method to orthogonalize the candidate vectors. With the orthogonal candidate matrix, the slow greedy algorithm is avoided. Thus, the RF vectors are found simultaneously without any iteration. Additionally, the phase extraction is applied to satisfy the element-wise constant-magnitude constraint on the RF matrix. Simulation results demonstrate that the new HBF algorithm can make substantial improvements in complexity while maintaining good performance.展开更多

The main objective of this review paper is to discuss the state-of-the-art research on the most favourable types of beamforming techniques that can be deployed in massive MIMO systems and to clarify the importance of beamforming techniques in massive MIMO systems for eliminating and resolving the many technical hitches that massive MIMO system implementation faces. Classifications of optimal beamforming techniques that are used in wireless communication systems are reviewed in detail to determine which techniques are more suitable for deployment in massive MIMO systems to improve system throughput and reduce intra-and inter-cell interference. To overcome the limitations in the literature, we have suggested an optimal beamforming technique that can provide the highest performance in massive MIMO systems, satisfying the requirements of next-generation wireless communication systems.

文摘To meet the ever growing traffic in mobile communication,mmWave(millimeter-Wave)frequency bands have gained considerable attention for having a greater amount of bandwidth available than the current cellular spectrum below 3 GHz.Several test systems have been reported on recently to validate the possibility of mmWave links in mobile scenarios. However, there still exist practical issues to enable the application of mmWave in mobile communication, including reliability and cost.In this article,we present some new designs that address these issues, where system architecture, transceiver architecture, and related issues such as circuits and antenna arrays are considered.Hypercellular architecture is applied in mmWave mobile networks to overcome blockage problems, and a Butler-matrix-based HBF(Hybrid Beamforming)architecture is considered in an mmWave link.Simulations and experimental results are presented to validate the effectiveness of the Butler-matrix-based system.
