It...The class of bi-directional optimal velocity models can describe the bi-directional looking effect that usually exists in the reality and is even enhanced with the development of the connected vehicle technologies. Its combined string stability condition can be obtained through the method of the ring-road based string stability analysis. However, the partial string stability about traffic fluctuation propagated backward or forward was neglected, which will be analyzed in detail in this work by the method of transfer function and its H∞ norm from the viewpoint of control theory. Then, through comparing the conditions of combined and partial string stabilities, their relationships can make traffic flow be divided into three distinguishable regions, displaying various combined and partial string stability performance. Finally, the numerical experiments verify the theoretical results and find that the final displaying string stability or instability performance results from the accumulated and offset effects of traffic fluctuations propagated from different directions.展开更多
In our consideration,a comparison between four different types of controllers for suppression the vibrations of the cantilever beam excited by an external force is carried out.Those four types are the linear velocity ...In our consideration,a comparison between four different types of controllers for suppression the vibrations of the cantilever beam excited by an external force is carried out.Those four types are the linear velocity feedback control,the cubic velocity feedback control,the non-linear saturation controller(NSC)and the positive position feedback(PPF)controller.The suitable type is the PPF controller for suppression the vibrations of the cantilever beam.The approximate solution obtained up to the first approximation by using the multiple scale method.The PPF controller effectiveness is studied on the system.We used frequency-response equations to investigate the stability of a cantilever beam.We notified that,there is a good agreement between the analytical solution and the numerical solution.展开更多
The measurement accuracy of an ultrasonic heat meter depends on the relationship of the profile-linear average velocity.There are various methods for the calculation of the laminar and turbulence flow regions,but few ...The measurement accuracy of an ultrasonic heat meter depends on the relationship of the profile-linear average velocity.There are various methods for the calculation of the laminar and turbulence flow regions,but few methods for the transition region.At present,the traditional method to deal with the transition region is to adopt the relationship for the turbulent flow region.In this article,a simplified model of the pipe is used to study the characteristics of the transition flow with specific Reynolds number.The k-εmodel and the Large Eddy Simulation(LES)model are,respectively,used to calculate the flow field of the transition region,and a comparison with the experiment results shows that the LES model is more effective than the k-εmodel,it is also shown that there will be a large error if the relationship based on the turbulence flow is used to calculate the profile-linear average velocity relationship of the transition flow.The profile-linear average velocity for the Reynolds number ranging from 5 300 to 10 000 are calculated,and the relationship curve is obtained.The results of this article can be used to improve the measurement accuracy of ultrasonic heat meter and provide a theoretical basis for the research of the whole transition flow.展开更多
