The logistics information is the logistics manageme nt ’s inevitable request. The paper introduces several kinds of logistics informat ion system and their functions in the logistics management, such as the warehous e management system (WMS) in the delivery center, the control system for transpo rtation and delivery, the supply chain management (SCM), the optimization of th e logistics system, etc. In the author’s opinion, the development of logistics could been divided into four phases. And the logistics information system has s ome special characteristics: automatization, network, intelligence, and regenera tion. The paper also introduces some information technologies that are concerned . The readers can find following technologies in this paper: database and netwo rk technology, bar code and scanning devices, electronic data interchange (EDI), global positioning system (GPS), these technologies develop very fast in recent years. This paper elaborates core and related technologies with the theme of the application of Baosteel mechanical and electronic products in metallurgical logistics management.It introduces the model of logistics management in iron and steel enterprise,especially focuses on the vital roles of Mechano - electronic Products in this model.Then it describes sensor detection device and marking & identification equipment, considered as the main methods of logistics tracking in production equipment layer.Consequently logistics tracking is also explained and promoted to logistics management level.We mainly present some technologies about the wireless data transmission and crane positioning system in this section.And some new prospective R&D study results and more comprehensive solutions for mechanical and electrical products from Baosight are also introduced.Finally the significances of metallurgical logistics management are summarized. 展开更多

In the field of the construction industry, logistics management has become an issue of concern which needs to be focused on in order to ensure effective, successful and timely execution of projects in the construction industry. Logistics management in construction is a multidisciplinary process which makes sure things are done at the right time, cost and quality as well as material supply and handling, schedule control, site infrastructure and equipment location, site physical flow management, traffic arrangements on and around the construction site, and information management related to all physical and services flow. This paper seeks to identify and evaluate the possible factors that affect logistics management in the construction industry and also to ascertain the current practices of inventory management and the effect on logistics management envisage by construction personnel’s and stake holders. A descriptive survey research was conducted with both structured and unstructured questionnaire and administered both via e-mail and by sending questionnaire link onto a WhatsApp platform groups of the respondents, and out of the 187 respondents that took part in the survey, 22 respondents feedback were incomplete so 165 member respondents results were analyzed representing 88.2% response rate. The survey results were analyzed, displayed and interpreted in the form of tables, bar charts, column chart and pie chart with the use of SPSS software. The research survey respondents </span><span style="font-family:Verdana;">were </span><span style="font-family:Verdana;">comprised of Project Managers, Project Coordinators, Foremen, Site Managers/</span><span style="font-family:Verdana;"> </span><span style="font-family:Verdana;">Officers, Logistics Managers, Inventory Managers and Laborers. The survey results revealed that majority of the total respondents are in the capacity or position as Logistics Managers and also have from 5 to 10 years working experience, and as well majority of the respondents have also attained Master’s degree qualification. It was also revealed that logistics management is greatly affected by the inability or the failure to embrace, adopt and integrate new and emerging technology and its approach into the logistics management system. Majority of the respondents also indicated that in general the adequacy of inventory management system was dissatisfied representing 63.8% of the total respondents. The construction industry not only needed to improve its inventory management systems but also to ensure appropriate inventory management techniques for enhancing high degree of accuracy, reduced cycle times and replenishment of stock. This usually accounts for the poor delivery and quality of work, accompanied with delays and other associated losses in project construction. For effective Logistics management to be achieved in the construction industry, the introduction of modern technology to carry out logistics functions in the construction industry should be paramount to the industry players. 展开更多

Delivery Service Management System Using Google Maps for SMEs in Emerging Countries

This paper proposes a Delivery Service Management(DSM)system for Small and Medium Enterprises(SMEs)that own a delivery fleet of pickup trucks to manage Business-to-Business(B2B)delivery services.The proposed DSM system integrates four systems:Delivery Location Positioning(DLP),Delivery Route Planning(DRP),Arrival Time Prediction(ATP),and Communication and Data Sharing(CDS)systems.These systems are used to pinpoint the delivery locations of customers,plan the delivery route of each truck,predict arrival time(with an interval)at each delivery location,and communicate and share information among stakeholders,respectively.The DSM system deploys Google applications,a GPS tracking system,Google Map APIs,ATP algorithms(embedded in Excel Macros),Line,and Telegram as supporting tools.To improve the accuracy of the ATP system,three tech-niques are applied considering driver behaviors.The proposed DSM system has been implemented in a Thai SME.From the process perspective,the DSM system is a systematic procedure for end-to-end delivery services.It allows the interactions between planner-driver decisions and supporting tools.The supporting tools are simple,can be easily used with little training,and require low capital expenditure.The statistical analysis shows that the ATP algorithm with the three techniques provides high accuracy.Thus,the proposed DSM system is beneficial for practitioners to manage delivery services,especially for SMEs in emerging countries. 展开更多
