An analogy was established with substructural analysis in structural mechanics, in which H_∞ decentralized control theory corresponds to substructural modal synthesis theory so that the optimal H_∞ norm of the whole system corresponds to the fundamental vibration frequency of the whole structure. Hence, modal synthesis methodology and the extended Wittrick_Williams algorithm were transplanted from structural mechanics to compute the optimal H_∞ norm of the control system. The orthogonality and the expansion theorem of eigenfunctions of the subsystems H_∞ control are presented in part (Ⅰ) of the paper. The modal synthesis method for computation of the optimal H_∞ norm of decentralized control systems and numerical examples are presented in part (Ⅱ).展开更多

Two special mechanical configurations make the cutting performance of the machine tool decline. One is the milling head spindle supported on two sets of complex bearings. The mechanical dynamic rigidity of milling head structure is researched on designed digital prototype with finite element analysis(FEA) and modal synthesis analysis ( MSA ) for identifying the weak structures. The other is the ram structure hanging on milling head. The structure is researched to get dynamic performance on cutting at different ram extending positions. The analysis results on spindle and ram are used to improve the mechanical configurations and structure in design. The machine tool is built up with modified structure and gets better dynamic rigidity than it was before.展开更多

Dynamic analysis of a milling machine, which is newly designed for producing turbine blades, has been conducted by utilizing the modal synthesis method. The finite element model is verified and updated by experimental modal analysis (EMA) of the machine tool. The result gained by modal synthesis method is compared with whole-model finite element method (FEM) result as well. According to the orthogonal experiment method, four configuration parameters of machine tool are considered as four factors for dynamic characteristics. The influence of configuration parameters on the first three natural frequencies is obtained by range analysis. It is pointed out that configuration parameter is the most important factor affecting the fundamental frequency of machine tools, and configuration parameter has less effect on lower-order modes of the system than others. The combination of configuration parameters which makes the fundamental frequency reach the maximum value is provided. Through demonstration, the conclusion can be drawn that the influence of configuration parameters on the natural frequencies of machine tools can be analyzed explicitly by the orthogonal experiment method, which offers a new method for estimating the dynamic characteristics of machine tools.展开更多

The Monte Carlo method is used to simulate the spectrum of the random excitation of the road and the engine. Based on the automobile dynamical equations, a simulation is carried out within time domain and frequency domain on the characteristic of vibration due to the excitation of automobile wheel and the engine. The results are verified by bench experiment to make the research more practicable. In order to do research of rubber hysteresis’ influence on automobile dynamic property, Poincare diagrams and amplitude frequency characteristic curves were drawn with automobile linear and nonlinear models. The results show that the nonlinear dynamical model concerning rubber hysteresis not only can improve the simulation accuracy, but also is beneficial to find some complex nonlinear dynamical behaviors of vehicles.展开更多
