All college students in China, English majors and non-English majors, have to learn English. Both teachers and learners have tried hard to find a good and effective way to teach and learn English in order to achieve high proficiency of English. Recitation, the traditional Chinese teaching method has been well kept in teaching language, particularly in primary school. In this paper, the writer reviews the related language learning theories and the studies of recitation and attempts to explore the positive effect of recitation, which is based on the theory of "input hypothesis" and accords with the cognitive process of human mind. Through experiment, it is found that recitation is helpful to students' writing. 展开更多

Recitation is a traditional and still popular learning method in Chinese language learning. While some foreign scholars abroad strongly opposed it applying to the foreign language learning because they thought it not helpful. This paper rediscovers recitation through clearing misunderstandings of the recitation; points out that recitation has pedagogical, management benefits and gives some suggestions on how to do recitation. This paper also implies that with the application of modern teaching theory and teaching aid, the traditional language teaching method should not be totally abandoned. 展开更多

It is well known that the best way is to learn from qualified and authentic scientists (Sheikh's) in one or more of these narrations. Due to 1) the widespread of the Internet and the ease of use and availability of computers and the smart phones that enables access to the Internet;2) the business of people hindering them to attend physical learning environments;and 3) the very few number of elder licensed scientists, we have developed a virtual learning system (Electronic Miqra’ah). Scientists can supervise remotely the registered students. Students (from different ages) can register from anywhere in the world given that they have Internet connection. Students can interact with the scientist in real time so that they can help them memorize (Tahfeez), guide them for error correction, and give them lectures or lessons through virtual learning rooms. The targeted groups of users can be nonblind people, blind people, manual-disabled people and illiterate people. We have developed this system such that it takes the commands via voice in addition to the normal inputs like mouse and keyboard. Users can dictate the commands to the system orally and the system recognizes the spoken phrases and executes them. We have developed an efficient speech recognition engine that is speaker independent and accent independent. The system administrators create several virtual learning rooms and register the licensed scientists. Administrators prepare a daily schedule for each room. Students can register to any of these rooms by pronouncing its name. Each student is allocated a portion of time where he/she can interact directly by voice with the scientist. Other students can listen to the current student’s recitation and the error corrections, guidance or lessons from the scientists. 展开更多

Learning mathematics requires an effective and strategic teaching approach. This study aimed to assess the mathematics performance of the learners with the implementation of the numeracy enhancement strategy QD2R(Questions,Drills,Repetition,and Recitation)and to propose a strategy implementation plan to elevate their performances. This study employed the use of a quasi-experimental research design, purposive sampling with 70 Grade 10 students of Lian National High School who were distributed equally to control and treatment groups. The pre-test and post-test results were statistically analyzed using independent and paired sample t-tests,and a survey questionnaire was examined by getting the mean and standard deviation. The results indicated that better performance was achieved by the students from the treatment group compared to the students from the control group,as revealed by the Mean Percentage Score(MPS)results, mean scores, and P values of their pre-test and post-test scores. The learners’perception of the implementation of this strategy was to a great extent, wherein it was perceived to be more helpful in concepts related to understanding the lesson compared to concepts related to developing their attitude and skills. Moreover, the proposed implementation plan of numeracy enhancement strategy QD2R had three expected outcomes:elevated understanding and performance in mathematics lessons;modified strategy to focus on the development of attitude and skills towards mathematics;and refined and well-implemented QD2R strategy in teaching mathematics.Relative to these expected outcomes, appropriate measures, timeframe, and resources of each were comprehensively formulated. 展开更多

The attention-based encoder-decoder technique, known as the trans-former,is used to enhance the performance of end-to-end automatic speech recognition(ASR).This research focuses on applying ASR end-toend transformer-based models for the Arabic language,as the researchers’community pays little attention to it.The Muslims Holy Qur’an book is written using Arabic diacritized text.In this paper,an end-to-end transformer model to building a robust Qur’an vs.recognition is proposed. The acoustic model was built using the transformer-based model as deep learning by the PyTorch framework.A multi-head attention mechanism is utilized to represent the encoder and decoder in the acoustic model.AMel filter bank is used for feature extraction. To build a language model(LM),the Recurrent Neural Network(RNN)and Long short-term memory(LSTM)were used to train an n-gram word-based LM.As a part of this research,a new dataset of Qur’an verses and their associated transcripts were collected and processed for training and evaluating the proposed model, consisting of 10 h of.wav recitations performed by 60 reciters. The experimental results showed that the proposed end-to-end transformer-based model achieved a significant low character error rate(CER)of 1.98%and a word error rate(WER)of 6.16%.We have achieved state-of-the-art end-to-end transformer-based recognition for Qur’an reciters. 展开更多

During the pre-Qin period, shi yan zhi(poetry expressing aspirations)was not a poetic concept. It primarily served to shape Confucian ideology, carrying significant discourse implications. The practices of shi yan zhi and bi zhi in religious rituals held important implications for poem reciting,a prevalent activity during the banquet ceremonies in the Spring and Autumn Period and its various forms.Together, they established the rites and music tradition characterized by yanshuo(speeches). This tradition further established the status of The Book of Odes as a classic, furnishing high-ranking officials and Confucian scholars with legitimacy and rich discourse resources to develop new ideologies. The different interpretations and applications of shi yan zhi resulted in diverse discourse models, such as duanzhang-quyi(to interpret out of context),xin’er youzheng(being reliable and borne out by evidence),wenwang yinyan(no word,no expression of thoughts)and yiyi-nizhi(interpreting a writing from one’s perspective).Through these different interpretations and applications, the scholarly-official class established multiple values and objectives, such as liyan buxiu(advocating lasting noble ideas untouched by time),xing-guan-qun yuan(stimulation, contemplation, communication, and criticism),shang you(befriending those superior to oneself),fa hu qing, zhi hu li yi(starting with feelings and control with propriety). In the process of building a unified ideology in the Han Dynasty, the“Introduction to Mao’s Version of The Book of Odes”advocated the unity of qing(sentiment)and zhi(aspiration),infusing shi yan zhi with connotations of enlightenment as well as extolment and satirical criticism. This advocacy redefined the political authority and discourse models of the scholar-official class, objectively unveiling the literary features of poetry, such as evoking an emotional response and commencing the practice of education through poetry teaching. 展开更多
