Pulse echo accumulation is commonly employed in coherent Doppler wind LiDAR(light detection and ranging)under the assumption of steady wind. Here, the measured spectral data are analyzed in the time dimension and frequency dimension to cope with the temporal wind shear and achieve the optimal accumulation time.A hardware-efficient algorithm combining the interpolation and cross-correlation is used to enhance the wind retrieval accuracy by reducing the frequency sampling interval and then reduce the spectral width calculation error. Moreover, the temporal broadening effect and spatial broadening effect are decoupled according to the strategy we developed. 展开更多

This study endeavors to deal with the least square spectral analysis on the time series, to find present significant frequencies, to analyze 40 tide components using harmonic methods and to show relationship between discovered frequencies and 40 components of tide. For the purpose of collecting data of altimetry satellites of Topex/Poseidon (T/P), Jason 1, Jason 2 and coastal tide gauges of Bandar Anzali, Noshahr, and Nekah were utilized. In this time series formed by cross over points of altimetry satellite and then using least square spectral analysis on time series derived from altimetry satellite and coastal tide gauges the significant components were found and annual, biannual, and monthly components were discovered. Then, analysis of 40 tide components was conducted using harmonic method to find the amplitude and phase. It represented that solar annual (Sa) plays the most significant role on Caspian Sea corresponded to the least square spectral analysis of the time series. The results shows that the annual (Sa) and semi-annual Solar (Ssa) constituents on all of the ports listed have the highest amplitude in comparison with the other constituents which are respectively 16 cm, 18 cm and 15 cm for annual constituent and 2.8 cm, 5.4 cm and 3.7 cm for semi-annual constituent. 展开更多

The traditional spheroidal kernel results in the spectrum leakage, and the utilization rate of the removed degrees of the measured data is low.Hence,a kind of spheroidal kernel whose high-and low-degrees are both modified is introduced in this research, which is exampled by the Hotine kernel. In addition, the low-degree modified spheroidal kernel is proposed.Either cosine or linear modification factors can be utilized. The modified kernel functions can effectively control the spectrum leakage compared with the traditional spheroidal kernel.Furthermore, the modified kernel augments the contribution rate of the measured data to height anomaly in the modified frequency domain. The experimental results show that the accuracy of the quasi-geoid by the cosine or linear low-degree modified kernel is higher than that by the traditional spheroidal kernel. And the accuracy equals the accuracy of the quasi-geoid using the spheroidal kernel with high-and low-degrees modified approximately when the low-degree modification bandwidths of these two kinds of kernels are the same.Since the computational efficiency of the low-degree modified kernel is much higher, the low-degree modified kernel behaves better in constructing the(quasi-)geoid based on Stokes-Helmert or Hotine-Helmert boundary-value theory. 展开更多

A quantum time-dependent spectrum analysis, or simply, quantum spectral analysis (QSA) is presented in this work, and it’s based on Schr&#246;dinger’s equation. In the classical world, it is named frequency in time (FIT), which is used here as a complement of the traditional frequency-dependent spectral analysis based on Fourier theory. Besides, FIT is a metric which assesses the impact of the flanks of a signal on its frequency spectrum, not taken into account by Fourier theory and lets alone in real time. Even more, and unlike all derived tools from Fourier Theory (i.e., continuous, discrete, fast, short-time, fractional and quantum Fourier Transform, as well as, Gabor) FIT has the following advantages, among others: 1) compact support with excellent energy output treatment, 2) low computational cost, O(N) for signals and O(N2) for images, 3) it does not have phase uncertainties (i.e., indeterminate phase for a magnitude = 0) as in the case of Discrete and Fast Fourier Transform (DFT, FFT, respectively). Finally, we can apply QSA to a quantum signal, that is, to a qubit stream in order to analyze it spectrally. 展开更多

We present the results of optical spectral analysis of a sample of 155 bright X ray selected ROSAT Seyfert 1 type AGN. We measured emission line properties by performing multi component fits to the emission line profiles, covering the effect of blended iron emission. We also obtained continuum parameters, including 250eV X ray luminosities derived from the ROSAT database. The measured properties are gathered for correlation analysis. Strong correlations between Hβ redshift, flux ratios of Fe Ⅱ to Hβ broad component and to Hβ narrow component are found. The observed trends are most likely driven by the Eddington ratio. 展开更多

Geophysical surveying is crucial in the investigation of mineral resources in poorly exposed areas such as SE-Cameroon, a region known for its gold mineral potential. In this paper, gravity survey is carried out in the Batouri area, SE-Cameroon based on land gravity data from the Centre-south Cameroon. <span style="font-family:Verdana;">Therefore, an analytical polynomial separation program, based on least-square fi</span><span style="font-family:Verdana;">tting of a third-degree polynomial surface to the Bouguer anomaly map, was used to separate the regional/residual components in gravity data. The 2.5D model of the basement shows a gravity body, with a signature suggesting two close and similar masses, which characterize the quartz-bearing formations associated here to granite and gneiss. Our work highlights a main heavy gravity: Gwé-Batouri anomaly, containing the major part of auriferous deposits located along the NE-SW direction. Further, three tectonic sub-basins bounded by normal faults have been highlighted at Guedal, Gwé, and Bélimban, in the south of Guedal-Bélimban depression. They are associated with the extension tectonics, more or less vertical tangential cuts and accidents that have affected the region. A correlation with previous results from tectonic, lithological and gold mineralization activities proves the relevance of the study and the need to intensify geophysical surveying in the area.</span></span></span> 展开更多

Human physiological(biological)systems function in such a way that their complexity requires mathematical analysis. The functioning of the brain, heart and other parts are so complex to be easily comprehended.Under conditions of rest or work, the temporal distances of successive heartbeats are subject to fluctuations, thereby forming the basis of Heart Rate Variability(HRV).In normal conditions, the human is persistently exposed to highly changing and dynamic situational demands. With these demands in mind,HRV can, therefore,be considered as the human organism’s ability to cope with and adapt to continuous situational requirements, both physiologically and emotionally.Fast Fourier Transform(FFT)is used in various physiological signal processing, such as heart rate variability.FFT allows a spectral analysis of HRV and is great help in HRV analysis and interpretation. 展开更多

As an important rice disease, rice bacterial leaf blight (RBLB, caused by the bacterium Xanthomonas oryzae pv.oryzae), has become widespread in east China in recent years. Significant losses in rice yield occurred as a result ofthe disease’s epidemic, making it imperative to monitor RBLB at a large scale. With the development of remotesensing technology, the broad-band sensors equipped with red-edge channels over multiple spatial resolutionsoffer numerous available data for large-scale monitoring of rice diseases. However, RBLB is characterized by rapiddispersal under suitable conditions, making it difficult to track the disease at a regional scale with a single sensorin practice. Therefore, it is necessary to identify or construct features that are effective across different sensors formonitoring RBLB. To achieve this goal, the spectral response of RBLB was first analyzed based on the canopyhyperspectral data. Using the relative spectral response (RSR) functions of four representative satellite or UAVsensors (i.e., Sentinel-2, GF-6, Planet, and Rededge-M) and the hyperspectral data, the corresponding broad-bandspectral data was simulated. According to a thorough band combination and sensitivity analysis, two novel spectralindices for monitoring RBLB that can be effective across multiple sensors (i.e., RBBRI and RBBDI) weredeveloped. An optimal feature set that includes the two novel indices and a classical vegetation index was formed. The capability of such a feature set in monitoring RBLB was assessed via FLDA and SVM algorithms. The resultdemonstrated that both constructed novel indices exhibited high sensitivity to the disease across multiple sensors.Meanwhile, the feature set yielded an overall accuracy above 90% for all sensors, which indicates its cross-sensorgenerality in monitoring RBLB. The outcome of this research permits disease monitoring with different remotesensing data over a large scale. 展开更多

This study employs the different approaches of the spectral decomposition techniques to evaluate the hydrocarbon potential of the reservoir and analyse to determine the most efficient spectral decomposition technique with better resolution using the “BOMS” Field, coastal swamp depobelt Niger Delta, Nigeria. A good number of drilled wells have failed both in the Niger Delta Basin and other basins due to a poor understanding of the reservoir properties in advance of drilling and identifying the best approach will help to minimize this risk. Seismic and well logs data together with the Hampson Russel 10.3 software were used for the study. The target reservoirs were identified from the suite of well logs at the horizons with low gamma ray, high resistivity, and low acoustic impedance between TVD (ft) of 10,350 - 10,450 ft. The analysis of the amplitude spectrum of the seismic data revealed that the distortion of interest lies between 5 - 60 Hz. Seismic data were then spectrally decomposed into several frequencies such as low frequency (15 Hz), mid-frequency (31 Hz), and high frequency (46 Hz) where distortions were observed. Time- frequency slices of 15 Hz and 23 Hz provided clearer events (potential hydrocarbon sand) indicated by high amplitude envelope (2200 - 2400) and amplitude anomalies. While the amplitude dropped in the mid-frequency (31 Hz), the high amplitude envelope and the high energy completely disappeared in the high (46 Hz) time-frequency slice. A comparison of the Short- time Fourier transform and the Basic Pursuit algorithm revealed that the Basic Pursuit provided a better resolution of the reservoir characteristics than the former. The Red, Green and Blue (RGB) colour blending model indicated that the channel was consistent with the low-frequency section and amplitude anomaly. 展开更多

Nonlinear spectral mixture analysis (NSMA) is a widely used unmixing algorithm. It can fit the mixed spectra adequately, but collinearity effect among true and virtual endmembers will decrease the retrieval accuracies of endmember fractions. Use of linear spectral mixture analysis (LSMA) can effectively reduce the degree of collinearity in the NSMA. However, the inadequate modeling of mixed spectra in the LSMA will also yield retrieval errors, especially for the cases where the multiple scattering is not ignorable. In this study, a generalized spectral unmixing scheme based on a spectral shape measure, i.e. spectral information divergence (SID), was applied to overcome the limitations of the conventional NSMA and LSMA. Two simulation experiments were undertaken to test the performances of the SID, LSMA and NSMA in the mixture cases of treesoil, tree-concrete and tree-grass. Results demonstrated that the SID yielded higher accuracies than the LSMA for almost all the mixture cases in this study. On the other hand, performances of the SID method were comparable with the NSMA for the tree-soil and tree-grass mixture cases, but significantly better than the NSMA for the tree-concrete mixture case. All the results indicate that the SID method is fairly effective to circumvent collinearity effect within the NSMA, and compensate the inadequate modeling of mixed spectra within the LSMA. 展开更多

In order to study the hydrodynamic characteristics of the karst aquifers in northern China, time series analyses(correlation and spectral analysis in addition with hydrograph recession analysis)are applied on Baotu Spring and Heihu Spring in Jinan karst spring system,a typical karst spring system in northern China. Results show that the auto-correlation coefficient of spring water level reaches the value of 0.2 after 123 days and 117 days for Baotu Spring and Heihu Spring, respectively. The regulation time obtained from the simple spectral density function in the same period is 187 days and 175 days for Baotu Spring and Heihu Spring. The auto-correlation coefficient of spring water level reaches the value of 0.2 in 34-82 days, and regulation time ranges among 40-59 days for every single hydrological year. The delay time between precipitation and spring water level obtained from cross correlation function is around 56 days for the period of 2012-2019,and varies among 30-79 days for every single hydrological year.In addition, the spectral bands in cross amplitude functions and gain functions are small with 0.02,and the values in the coherence functions are small. All these behaviors illustrate that Jinan karst spring system has a strong memory effect, large storage capacity, noticeable regulation effect, and time series analysis is a useful tool for studying the hydrodynamic characteristics of karst spring system in northern China. 展开更多

The study area is located in the south western Cameroon and includes part of the Cameroon Volcanic Line (CVL). Volcanic activity has been recorded in this area, precisely on the Mount Cameroon which recently erupted in 2002. In addition, deadly carbonic gas was emitted by crater lakes (Monoun and Nyos) in 1984 and 1986 respectively. Potential field model EGM2008 has been used to investigate the structure of the crust. A regional/residual separation is performed using upward continuation and polynomial separation methods. The results from this operation show a similarity between the regional anomalies resulting from both methods. The regional anomaly maps present an increasing gradient trending ENE-WSW above and below latitude 5?N. Moreover, six nearly parallel profiles were drawn on the CVL in addition to two other profiles at the northern edge of Congo craton. These profiles were used to estimate the depths of the Moho discontinuity and some shallow sources by the means of the Bouguer and the residual anomalies respectively. The results show that the Moho discontinuity depths vary from 19 - 25 km (under Mount Cameroon) to 28 - 34 km (in Kumbo), while the southern neighbouring zone presents a Moho discontinuity depth ranging between 23 - 31 km (in Ngambe) and 22 - 32 km (in Eseka). These findings agree with the previous seismic and gravity researches lead in the area. EGM2008 is therefore a reliable tool to investigate the subsurface structures. 展开更多

Tea plant stresses threaten the quality of tea seriously. The technology corresponding to the fast detection and differentiation of stresses is of great significance for plant protection in tea plantation. In recent years, hyperspectral imaging technology has shown great potential in detecting and differentiating plant diseases, pests and some other stresses at the leaf level. However, the lack of studies at canopy level hampers the detection of tea plant stresses at a larger scale. In this study, based on the canopy-level hyperspectral imaging data, the methods for identifying and differentiating the three commonly occurred tea stresses(i.e.,the tea leafhopper, anthrax and sun burn)were studied. To account for the complexity of the canopy scenario,a stepwise detecting strategy was proposed that includes the process of background removal, identification of damaged areas and discrimination of stresses.Firstly, combining the successive projection algorithm(SPA)spectral analysis and K-means cluster analysis, the background and overexposed non-plant regions were removed from the image. Then,a rigorous sensitivity analysis and optimization were performed on various forms of spectral features, which yielded optimal features for detecting damaged areas(i.e.,YSV,Area,GI,CARI and NBNDVI)and optimal features for stresses discrimination(i.e.,MCARI,CI,LCI,RARS,TCI and VOG).Based on this information, the models for identifying damaged areas and those models for discriminating different stresses were established using K-nearest neighbor(KNN),Random Forest(RF)and Fisher discriminant analysis. The identification model achieved an accuracy over 95%,and the discrimination model achieved an accuracy over 93%for all stresses. The results suggested the feasibility of stress detection and differentiation using canopy-level hyperspectral imaging techniques, and indicated the potential for its extension over large areas. 展开更多

Sea water intrusion is an environmental problem cause by the irrational exploitation of coastal groundwater resources and has attracted the attention of many coastal countries. In this study,we used time series monitoring data of groundwater levels and tidal waves to analyze the influence of tide flow on groundwater dynamics in the southern Laizhou Bay.The auto-correlation and cross-correlation coefficients between groundwater level and tidal wave level were calculated specifically to measure the boundary conditions along the coastline. In addition, spectrum analysis was employed to assess the periodicity and hysteresis of various tide and groundwater level fluctuations. The results of time series analysis show that groundwater level fluctuation is noticeably influenced by tides, but the influence is limited to a certain distance and cannot reach the saltwater-freshwater interface in the southern Laizhou Bay.There are three main periodic components of groundwater level in tidal effect range(i.e.23.804 h,12.500 h and 12.046 h),the pattern of which is the same as the tides. The affected groundwater level fluctuations lag behind the tides. The dynamic analysis of groundwater indicates that the coastal aquifer has a hydraulic connection with seawater but not in a direct way.Owing to the existence of the groundwater mound between the salty groundwater(brine)and fresh groundwater, the maximum influencing distance of the tide on the groundwater is 8.85 km.Considering that the fresh-saline groundwater interface is about 30 km away from the coastline, modern seawater has a limited contribution to sea-salt water intrusion in Laizhou Bay.The results of this study are expected to provide a reference for the study on sea water intrusion. 展开更多

Purpose: Heart rate variability (HRV) is acknowledged as a useful tool to estimate autonomic function. Fast Fourier transform (FFT) and autoregressive model (AR) are used for power spectral analysis of HRV. However, there is little evidence of agreement between FFT and AR in relation to HRV following food intake in females. In the present study, we applied both FFT and AR after food intake during the follicular and luteal phases, and compared raw low-frequency (LF) and high- frequency (HF) powers, and LF/HF ratio obtained with the two power-spectral analytical methods. Methods: All subjects participated in two sessions: follicular phase session and luteal phase session. In each session, R-R intervals were continuously recorded before and after meals, and power spectral analysis of heart rate variability was performed. We analyzed low-frequency power (LF: 0.04 - 0.15 Hz) and high-frequency power (HF: 0.15 - 0.40 Hz) by using FFT and AR. LF and HF power were computed for each 30 sec, 1 min, 2.5 min, and 5 min of the 5-min R-R data before meal intake and at 20, 40, 60 and 80 min after meal intake. The LF/HF ratio was calculated as an index of sympathovagal balance. Results: In the present study, after 30 sec and 1 min of segment analysis, there was little interchangeability between AR and FFT in LF, HF, and LF/HF ratio in both follicular and luteal phases. In 2.5 min or 5 min of segment analysis, there was interchangeability between FFT and AR in LF and HF, but not in the LF/HF ratio in both follicular and luteal phases. Additionally, FFT underestimated HRV compared with AR, and the extent of underestimation increased with increasing AR value. Conclusion: FFT underestimated HRV compared with AR, and FFT correlated poorly with AR when the analysis segment was shortened. 展开更多

Inside the second experimental wave energy converter (WEC) launched at the Lysekil research site on the Swedish west coast in March 2009 a number of sensor systems were installed for measuring the mechanical performance of the WEC and its mechanical subsystems. One of the measurement systems was a set-up of 7 laser triangulation sensors for measuring relative displacement of the piston rod mechanical lead-through transmission in the direct drive. Two measurement periods, separated by 2.5 month, are presented in this paper. One measurement is made two weeks after launch and another 3 months after launch. Comparisons and correlations are made between different sensors measuring simultaneously. Noise levels are investigated. Filtering is discussed for further refinement of the laser triangulation sensor signals in order to separate noise from actual physical displacement and vibration. Measurements are presented from the relative displacement of the piston rod mechanical lead-through, from magnetic flux in the air gap, mechanical strain in the WEC structure, translator position and piston rod axial displacement and active AC power. Investigation into the measurements in the time domain with close-ups, in the frequency domain with Fast Fourier transform (FFT) and with time-frequency analysis with short time Fourier transform (STFT) is carried out to map the spectral content in the measurements. End stop impact is clearly visible in the time-frequency analysis. The FFT magnitude spectra are investigated for identifying the cogging bandwidth among other vibrations. Generator cogging, fluctuations in the damping force and in the Lorenz forces in the stator are distinguished and varies depending on translator speed. Vibrations from cogging seem to be present in the early measurement period while not so prominent in the late measurement period. Vibration frequencies due to wear are recognized by comparing with the noise at generator standstill and the vibration sources in the generator. It is concluded that a moving average is a sufficient filter in the time domain for further analysis of the relative displacement of the piston rod mechanical lead-through transmission. 展开更多
