The objective of this study is to test the zinc coating of the steel plate. A literature review was conducted to identify the zinc coating techniques, and the companies that can provide different coating service was identified. A salt fog chamber was built that was in compliance with the ANSI B117 code, and the steel plates that were coated by the identified companies were tested using the salt fog chamber. The results indicated that the coating technique that had the best performance in preventing corrosion was the Greenkote plates with passivation. The galvanized option had the roughest coating layer, and it was the most reactive in the salt water solution. This makes it non-ideal for the dynamic rail environment because the increased friction of the plate could damage the supports, especially during extreme temperatures that would cause the rail to expand or contract. Greenkote with Phosphate and ArmorGalv also provided increased corrosion prevention with a smooth, strong finish, but it had more rust on the surface area than the Greenkote with ELU passivation. The ArmorGalv sample had more rust on the surface area than the Greenkote samples. This may not be a weakness in the ArmorGalv process;rather, it likely was the result of this particular sample not having the added protection of a colored coating.展开更多

This article proposes a new method that requires only two consecutive measurements. While using the azimuth measurement to obtain the angular difference between two radial distances, it also conducts two consecutive Doppler frequency shift measurements at the same target azimuth. On the basis of this measurement, a frequency difference equation is first constructed and solved jointly with the Doppler frequency shift equation. By eliminating the velocity variable and using the measured angular difference to obtain the target’s lead angle, the target’s velocity can be solved by using the Doppler frequency shift equation again. The new method avoids the condition that the target must move equidistantly, which not only provides an achievable method for engineering applications but also lays a good foundation for further exploring the use of steady-state signals to achieve passive positioning.展开更多

Firstly, the wind speed time series data was processed using Variational Mode Decomposition (VMD) to obtain multiple frequency components. Then, each individual frequency component was channeled into a combined prediction framework consisting of BP neural network (BPNN), Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) and Long Short-Term Memory Network (LSTM) after the execution of differential and normalization operations. Thereafter, the predictive outputs for each component underwent integration through a fully-connected neural architecture for data fusion processing, resulting in the final prediction. The VMD decomposition technique was introduced in a generalized CNN-LSTM prediction model;a BPNN model was utilized to predict high-frequency components obtained from VMD, and incorporated a fully connected neural network for data fusion of individual component predictions. Experimental results demonstrated that the proposed improved VMD-BP-CNN-LSTM model outperformed other combined prediction models in terms of prediction accuracy, providing a solid foundation for optimizing the safe operation of wind farms.展开更多

A nonlinear sliding surface whose parameters are altering with time is designed at first. The proposed NSMSC can minimize the settling time without any overshoot via utilizing a low damping ratio at starting along with a high damping ratio as the output approaches the target set-point. In addition, it eliminates the problem of the singularity with the upper bound of an uncertain term that is hard to be measured practically as well as ensures a rapid convergence in finite time, through employing a simple adaptation law. Moreover, for enhancing the system efficiency throughout the constant torque region, the control system utilizes the maximum torque per ampere technique. The nonlinear sliding surface stability is assured via employing Lyapunov stability theory. Furthermore, a simple sliding mode estimator is employed for estimating the system uncertainties. The stability analysis and the experimental results indicate the effectiveness along with feasibility of the proposed speed estimation and the NSMSC approach for a 1.1-k W PMa-Syn RM under different speed references, electrical and mechanical parameters disparities, and load disturbance conditions.展开更多

The new method avoids the condition that the target must move equidistantly, which not only provides an achievable method for engineering applications but also lays a good foundation for further exploring the use of steady-state signals to achieve passive positioning.
文摘We are developing a speed reducer that can be considered a transformation of a worm gear reducer: the worm is replaced by an inverted roller screw, and the gear is replaced by a threaded chain drive. This configuration lessens wear, increases load capacity, and improves efficiency. The threaded chain consists of nut-shaped links. This paper presents the results of tests carried out on a prototype with a reduction ratio of 46.
文摘Amid the randomness and volatility of wind speed, an improved VMD-BP-CNN-LSTM model for short-term wind speed prediction was proposed to assist in power system planning and operation in this paper. Experimental results demonstrated that the proposed improved VMD-BP-CNN-LSTM model outperformed other combined prediction models in terms of prediction accuracy, providing a solid foundation for optimizing the safe operation of wind farms.

文摘In grassland ecosystems, the aerodynamic roughness(Z0)and frictional wind speed(u*)contribute to the aerodynamic impedance of the grassland canopy. Thus, they are often used in the studies of wind erosion and evapotranspiration. However, the effect of wind speed and grazing measures on the aerodynamic impedance of the grassland canopy has received less analysis. In this study,we monitored wind speeds at multiple heights in grazed and grazing-prohibited grasslands for 1 month in 2021,determined the transit wind speed at 2.0 m height by comparing wind speed differences at the same height in both grasslands, and divided these transit wind speeds at intervals of 2.0 m/s to analyze the effect of the transit wind speed on the relationship among Z0,u*,and wind speed within the grassland canopy. The results showed that dividing the transit wind speeds into intervals has a positive effect on the logarithmic fit of the wind speed profile. After dividing the transit wind speeds into intervals, the wind speed at 0.1 m height(V0.1)gradually decreased with the increase of Z0,exhibiting three distinct stages:a sharp change zone,a steady change zone, and a flat zone;while the overall trend of u*increased first and then decreased with the increase of V0.1.Dividing the transit wind speeds into intervals improved the fitting relationship between Z0 and V0.1 and changed their fitting functions in grazed and grazing-prohibited grasslands.According to the computational fluid dynamic results,we found that the number of tall-stature plants has a more significant effect on windproof capacity than their height. The results of this study contribute to a better understanding of the relationship between wind speed and the aerodynamic impedance of vegetation in grassland environments.

文摘The cross-shore variation in wind speeds influenced by beach nourishment, especially the dramatic changes at the nourished berm,is important for understanding the aeolian sand transport processes that occur after beach nourishment, which will contribute to better beach nourishment project design on windy coasts. In this paper, the influencing factors and potential mechanism of wind speed variation at the edge of a nourished berm were studied.Field observations, together with the Duna model, were used to study the cross-shore wind speed distribution for different nourishment schemes. The results show that the nourished berm elevation and beachface slope are the main factors controlling the increase in wind speed at the berm edge. When the upper beach slope is constant, the wind speed at the berm edge has a positive linear correlation with the berm elevation. When the berm elevation remains constant, the wind speed at the berm edge is also proportional to the upper beach slope.Considering the coupling effects of nourished berm elevation and beachface slope,a model for predicting the wind speed amplification rate at the nourished berm edge was established, and the underlying coupling mechanism was illustrated.

文摘The ballastless track is nowadays the most popular railway system due to the required low number of maintenance opera-tions and costs, despite the high investment. The gradual change from ballasted to ballastless tracks has been occurring in Asia, but also in Europe, increasing the number of transition zones. The transition zones are a special area of the railway networks where there is an accelerated process of track degradation, which is a major concern of the railway infrastructure managers. Thus, the accurate prediction of the short-and long-term performance of ballastless tracks in transition zones is an important topic in the current paradigm of building/rehabilitating high-speed lines. This work purposes the development of an advanced 3D model to study the global performance of a ballastless track in an embankment-tunnel transition zone considering the influence of the train speed(220,360,500,and 600 km/h).Moreover,a mitigation measure is also adopted to reduce the stress and displacements levels of the track in the transition.A resilient mat placed in the tunnel and embank-ment aims to soften the transition. The behaviour of the track with the resilient mat is evaluated considering the influence of the train speed, with special attention regarding the critical speed. The used methodology is a novel and hybrid approach that allows including short-term and long-term performance, through the development of a powerful 3D model combined with the implementation of a calibrated empirical permanent deformation model.
文摘In this paper, an adaptive gain tuning rule is designed for the nonlinear sliding mode speed control(NSMSC) in order to enhance the dynamic performance and the robustness of the permanent magnet assisted synchronous reluctance motor(PMa-Syn RM) with considering the parameter uncertainties. The stability analysis and the experimental results indicate the effectiveness along with feasibility of the proposed speed estimation and the NSMSC approach for a 1.1-k W PMa-Syn RM under different speed references, electrical and mechanical parameters disparities, and load disturbance conditions.

文摘Purpose–This study aims to explore the formation mechanism of aerodynamic noise of a high-speed maglev train and understand the characteristics of dipole and quadrupole sound sources of the maglev train at different speed levels.Design/methodology/approach–Based on large eddy simulation(LES)method and Kirchhoff–Ffowcs Williams and Hawkings(K-FWH)equations,the characteristics of dipole and quadrupole sound sources of maglev trains at different speed levels were simulated and analyzed by constructing reasonable penetrable integral surface.Findings–The spatial disturbance resulting from the separation of the boundary layer in the streamlined area of the tail car is the source of aerodynamic sound of the maglev train. The dipole sources of the train are mainly distributed around the radio terminals of the head and tail cars of the maglev train, the bottom of the arms of the streamlined parts of the head and tail cars and the nose tip area of the streamlined part of the tail car,and the quadrupole sources are mainly distributed in the wake area. When the train runs at three speed levels of 400,500 and 600 km$h1,respectively,the radiated energy of quadrupole source is 62.4%,63.3%and 71.7%,respectively,which exceeds that of dipole sources.Originality/value–This study can help understand the aerodynamic noise characteristics generated by the high-speed maglev train and provide a reference for the optimization design of its aerodynamic shape.

文摘This paper proposes an adaptive unscented Kalman filter algorithm(ARUKF)to implement fault estimation for the dynamics of high⁃speed train(HST)with measurement uncertainty and time⁃varying noise with unknown statistics.Firstly, regarding the actuator and sensor fault as the auxiliary variables of the dynamics of HST,an augmented system is established, and the fault estimation problem for dynamics of HST is formulated as the state estimation of the augmented system. Then, considering the measurement uncertainties,a robust lower bound is proposed to modify the update of the UKF to decrease the influence of measurement uncertainty on the filtering accuracy.Further, considering the unknown time⁃varying noise of the dynamics of HST,an adaptive UKF algorithm based on moving window is proposed to estimate the time⁃varying noise so that accurate concurrent actuator and sensor fault estimations of dynamics of HST is implemented. Finally,a five-car model of HST is given to show the effectiveness of this method.

文摘At present,GNSS-Acoustic(GNSS-A)combined technology is widely used in positioning for seafloor geodetic stations.Based on Sound Velocity Profiles(SVPs)data, the equal gradient acoustic ray-tracing method is applied in high-precision position inversion. However, because of the discreteness of the SVPs used in the forementioned method,it ignores the continuous variation of sound velocity structure in time domain, which worsens the positioning accuracy. In this study, the time-domain variation of Sound Speed Structure(SSS)has been considered, and the cubic B-spline function is applied to characterize the perturbed sound velocity.Based on the ray-tracing theory,an inversion model of“stepwise iteration&progressive corrections”for both positioning and sound speed information is proposed, which conducts the gradual correction of seafloor geodetic station coordinates and disturbed sound velocity. The practical data was used to test the effectiveness of our method. The results show that the Root Mean Square(RMS)errors of the residual values of the traditional methods without sound velocity correction, based on quadratic polynomial correction and based on cubic B-spline function correction are 1.43 ms,0.44 ms and 0.21 ms,respectively. The inversion model with sound velocity correction can effectively eliminate the systematic error caused by the change of SSS,and significantly improve the positioning accuracy of the seafloor geodetic stations.
文摘Wind speed forecasting is important for wind energy forecasting. In the modern era,the increase in energy demand can be managed effectively by fore-casting the wind speed accurately. The main objective of this research is to improve the performance of wind speed forecasting by handling uncertainty, the curse of dimensionality, overfitting and non-linearity issues. The curse of dimensionality and overfitting issues are handled by using Boruta feature selec-tion.The uncertainty and the non-linearity issues are addressed by using the deep learning based Bi-directional Long Short Term Memory(Bi-LSTM).In this paper,Bi-LSTM with Boruta feature selection named BFS-Bi-LSTM is proposed to improve the performance of wind speed forecasting. The model identifies relevant features for wind speed forecasting from the meteorological features using Boruta wrapper feature selection(BFS).Followed by Bi-LSTM predicts the wind speed by considering the wind speed from the past and future time steps. The proposed BFS-Bi-LSTM model is compared against Multilayer perceptron(MLP),MLP with Boruta(BFS-MLP),Long Short Term Memory(LSTM),LSTM with Boruta(BFS-LSTM)and Bi-LSTM in terms of Root Mean Square Error(RMSE),Mean Absolute Error(MAE),Mean Square Error(MSE)and R2.The BFS-Bi-LSTM surpassed other models by producing RMSE of 0.784,MAE of 0.530,MSE of 0.615 and R2 of 0.8766.The experimental result shows that the BFS-Bi-LSTM produced better forecasting results compared to others.
