Fixed-point fast sweeping WENO methods are a class of efficient high-order numerical methods to solve steady-state solutions of hyperbolic partial differential equations(PDEs).The Gauss-Seidel iterations and alternating sweeping strategy are used to cover characteristics of hyperbolic PDEs in each sweeping order to achieve fast convergence rate to steady-state solutions.A nice property of fixed-point fast sweeping WENO methods which distinguishes them from other fast sweeping methods is that they are explicit and do not require inverse operation of nonlinear local systems.Hence,they are easy to be applied to a general hyperbolic system.To deal with the difficulties associated with numerical boundary treatment when high-order finite difference methods on a Cartesian mesh are used to solve hyperbolic PDEs on complex domains,inverse Lax-Wendroff(ILW)procedures were developed as a very effective approach in the literature.In this paper,we combine a fifthorder fixed-point fast sweeping WENO method with an ILW procedure to solve steadystate solution of hyperbolic conservation laws on complex computing regions.Numerical experiments are performed to test the method in solving various problems including the cases with the physical boundary not aligned with the grids.Numerical results show highorder accuracy and good performance of the method.Furthermore,the method is compared with the popular third-order total variation diminishing Runge-Kutta(TVD-RK3)time-marching method for steady-state computations.Numerical examples show that for most of examples,the fixed-point fast sweeping method saves more than half CPU time costs than TVD-RK3 to converge to steady-state solutions. 展开更多

Based on the basic facts that the martensitic transformation is a physical phenomenon which occurs in non equilibrium conditions and there exists the feedback mechanism in the martensitic transformation, the dynamical processes of the isothermal and athermal martensitic transformations were analyzed by using nonlinear theory and a bifurcation theory model was established. It is shown that a multiple steady state phenomenon can take place as austenite is cooled, and the transitions of the steady state temperature between the branches of stable steady states can be considered the transformation from austenite to martensite. This model can estimate the starting temperature of the martensitic transformation and explain some experimental features of the martensitic transformation such as the effects of cooling rate, fluctuation and austenitic grain size on the martensitic transformation. The further application of semi-solid processing lies in the in-depth fundamental study like rheological behavior. In this research, the apparent viscosity of the semi-solid slurry of 7075 alloy was measured using a Couette type viscometer. The effects of solid fraction and shearing rate on the apparent viscosity of this alloy were investigated under different processing conditions. It can be seen that the apparent viscosity increases with an increase in the solid fraction from 10% to 50%(temperature 620 oC to 630 oC) at steady state. When the solid fraction was fi xed, the apparent viscosity can be decreased by altering the shearing rate from 61.235 s-1 to 489.88 s-1 at steady state. An empirical equation that shows the effects of solid fraction and shearing rate on the apparent viscosity is fi tted:. The sawtooth-like oscillations resulting from the m/n=2/1 double tearing mode(DTM)are numerically investigated through the three-dimensional,toroidal,nonlinear resistive-MHD code(CLT).We find that the nonlinear evolution of the m/n=2/1 DTM can lead to sawtooth-like oscillations,which are similar to those driven by the kink mode.The perpendicular thermal conductivity and the external heating rate can significantly alter the behaviors of the DTM driven sawtooth-like oscillations.With a high perpendicular thermal conductivity,the system quickly evolves into a steady state with m/n=2/1 magnetic islands and helical flow.However,with a low perpendicular thermal conductivity,the system tends to exhibit sawtooth-like oscillations.With a sufficiently high or low heating rate,the system exhibits sawtooth-like oscillations,while with an intermediate heating rate,the system quickly evolves into a steady state.At the steady state,there exist the non-axisymmetric magnetic field and strong radial flow,and both are with helicity of m/n=2/1.Like the steady state with m/n=1/1 radial flow,which is beneficial for preventing the helium ash accumulation in the core,the steady state with m/n=2/1 radial flow might also be a good candidate for the advanced steady state operations in future fusion reactors.We also find that the behaviors of the sawtooth-like oscillations are almost independent of tokamak geometry,which implies that the steady state with saturated m/n=2/1 islands might exist in different tokamaks. 展开更多

In order to investigate the mechanism of the temperature oscillation in loop heat pipes,this paper investigated the movement of the phase interface as the changed input power by a mass-spring-damper model.The model was solved with MATLAB and was used to explain the high-frequency and low-amplitude temperature oscillation.Temperature variation with the input power from 20 W to 75 W was investigated based on a LHP prototype in a literature.The model agreed well with the experimental data in the literature.The simulation results suggested that the movement of the liquid column was caused by the fluctuation of pressure difference applied on the liquid column and the stiffness coefficients of the vapor springs increasing with the input power.According to parameter analyses,the temperature oscillation at the outlet of the condenser can be weakened by increasing the mass of the liquid column and keeping the temperature at the outlet of the condenser steady. 展开更多

Identification of steady state and transient state plays an important role in modeling,control,optimiza-tion,and fault detection of industrial processes.Many existing methods for state identification are not satisfactory in practical applications due to problems of ideal hypothesis,too many parameters,and poor robustness.In this paper,a novel state identification approach is proposed.The problem of state identification is transformed into finding the noise band of differential signal.For practical application,automatic selection of noise band amplitude is proposed to make the method convenient to be used.Problems of gross errors,low signal-to-noise ratio and online identification are considered.And comparison with other two methods shows that the proposed method has better identification performance.Simulations and experiments also prove the effectiveness and practicability of the proposed method. 展开更多

Weighted essentially non-oscillatory(WENO)schemes are a class of high-order shock capturing schemes which have been designed and applied to solve many fluid dynamics problems to study the detailed flow structures and their evolutions.However,like many other high-order shock capturing schemes,WENO schemes also suffer from the problem that it can not easily converge to a steady state solution if there is a strong shock wave.This is a long-standing difficulty for high-order shock capturing schemes.In recent years,this non-convergence problem has been studied extensively for WENO schemes.Numerical tests show that the key reason of the non-convergence to steady state is the slight post shock oscillations,which are at the small local truncation error level but prevent the residue to settle down to machine zero.Several strategies have been proposed to reduce these slight post shock oscillations,including the design of new smoothness indicators for the fifth-order WENO scheme,the development of a high-order weighted interpolation in the procedure of the local characteristic projection for WENO schemes of higher order of accuracy,and the design of a new type of WENO schemes.With these strategies,the convergence to steady states is improved significantly.Moreover,the strategies are applicable to other types of weighted schemes.In this paper,we give a brief review on the topic of convergence to steady state solutions for WENO schemes applied to Euler equations. 展开更多

The dependence of a-phase size on flow stress was characterized by a proposed kinetic model during dynamic recrystallization(DRX) steady state in Ti60 alloy. According to the isothermal compression tests, the influence of deformation parameters on the steady-state flow stress was analyzed and the constitutive equation was established to predict the steady-state flow stress under different deformation temperatures and strain rates. A power-law relationship between the DRX average grain size and steadystate flow stress with an exponent of —2 is obtained from the dynamic balance during DRX steady state. The effect of deformation parameters on a-phase size was observed through the microstructure after deformation, and the applicability of the model for Ti60 alloy was verified by the comparison between predicted and experimental data. 展开更多

The gradient descent approach is the key ingredient in variational quantum algorithms and machine learning tasks,which is an optimization algorithm for finding a local minimum of an objective function.The quantum versions of gradient descent have been investigated and implemented in calculating molecular ground states and optimizing polynomial functions.Based on the quantum gradient descent algorithm and Choi-Jamiolkowski isomorphism,we present approaches to simulate efficiently the nonequilibrium steady states of Markovian open quantum many-body systems.Two strategies are developed to evaluate the expectation values of physical observables on the nonequilibrium steady states.Moreover,we adapt the quantum gradient descent algorithm to solve linear algebra problems including linear systems of equations and matrix-vector multiplications,by converting these algebraic problems into the simulations of closed quantum systems with well-defined Hamiltonians.Detailed examples are given to test numerically the effectiveness of the proposed algorithms for the dissipative quantum transverse Ising models and matrix-vector multiplications. 展开更多

Compared with the moving concentrated load model,it is more realistic and proper to use the moving distributed mass and load model to simulate the dynamics of a train moving along a railway track.In the problem of a moving concentrated load,there is only one critical velocity,which divides the load moving velocity into two categories:subcritical and supercritical.The locus of a concentrated load demarcates the space into two parts:the waves in these two domains are called the front and rear waves,respectively.In comparison,in the problem of moving distributed mass and load,there are two critical velocities,which results in three categories of the distributed mass moving velocity.Due to the presence of the distributed mass and load,the space is divided into three domains,in which three different waves exist.Much richer and different variation patterns of wave shapes arise in the problem of the moving distributed mass and load.The mechanisms responsible for these variation patterns are systematically studied.A semi-analytical solution to the steady-state is also obtained,which recovers that of the classical problem of a moving concentrated load when the length of the distributed mass and load approaches zero. 展开更多

Brain oscillations are vital to cognitive functions,while disrupted oscillatory activity is linked to various brain disorders.Although high-frequency neural oscillations(>1 Hz)have been extensively studied in cognition,the neural mechanisms underlying low-frequency hemodynamic oscillations(LFHO)<1 Hz have not yet been fully explored.One way to examine oscillatory neural dynamics is to use a facial expression(FE)paradigm to induce steady-state visual evoked potentials(SSVEPs),which has been used in electroencephalography studies of high-frequency brain oscillation activity.In this study,LFHO during SSVEP-inducing periodic flickering stimuli presentation were inspected using functional near-infrared spectroscopy(fNIRS),in which hemodynamic responses in the prefrontal cortex were recorded while participants were passively viewing dynamic FEs flickering at 0.2 Hz.The fast Fourier analysis results demonstrated that the power exhibited monochronic peaks at 0.2 Hz across all channels,indicating that the periodic events successfully elicited LFHO in the prefrontal cortex.More importantly,measurement of LFHO can effectively distinguish the brain activation difference between different cognitive conditions,with happy FE presentation showing greater LFHO power than neutral FE presentation.These results demonstrate that stimuli flashing at a given frequency can induce LFHO in the prefrontal cortex,which provides new insights into the cognitive mechanisms involved in slow oscillation. 展开更多

Most applied time series are non-stationary,or exhibit some kind of non-stationarity for at least parts of the time series.For time series analyses or mathematical modeling purposes,the non-stationarities can be difficult to handle.Therefore,identification of stationary and non-stationary behavior is of great practical interest in time series analysis.In this study a robust and computationally efficient method to identify steady state parts of time series data is presented.The method is based on the class of deterministic trend models using a sliding window,and is focused towards being easy to implement,efficient and practical in use and to preserve data completeness.To demonstrate the performance of the steady state identifier,the method is applied on different sets of time series data from two ships equipped with systems for in-service monitoring.The method is shown to be reliable and practical for identifying steady state parts of time series data,and can serve as a practical preprocessing tool for time series data analysis. 展开更多

The close-coupled selective catalytic reduction(cc-SCR)catalyst is an effective technology to reduce tailpipe NOx emission during cold start.This paper investigated the optimal ammonia storage under steady and transient state in the cc-SCR.The study showed that a trade-off between NOx conversion efficiency and ammonia slip is observed on the pareto solutions under steady state,and the optimal ammonia storage is calculated with ammonia slip less than 10μL/L based on the ChinaⅥemission legislation.The rapid temperature increase will lead to severe ammonia slip in the transient test cycle.A simplified 0-D calculation method on ammonia slip under transient state is proposed based on kinetic model of ammonia adsorption and desorption.In addition,the effect of ammonia storage,catalyst temperature and temperature increasing rate on ammonia slip are analyzed.The optimal ammonia storage is calculated with maximum ammonia slip less than 100μL/L according to the oxidation efficiency of ammonia slip catalyst(ASC)downstream cc-SCR.It was found that the optimal ammonia storage under transient state is much lower than that under steady state in cc-SCR at lower temperature,and a phase diagram is established to analyze the influence of temperature and temperature increasing rate on optimal ammonia storage. 展开更多

Its implementation aims to limit or eliminate over-stocking and/or stock depletion. The orderable quantity prediction tool based on a settable and preset time period demonstrates the added value of incorporating probabilistic mathematical principles into supply management processes. In this context, this article discusses aspects of the design and implementation of random demand management algorithms based on Mar-kov chains. The goal is to forecast the state or behavior of goods marketing company’s product stocks and to develop a user supply management inter-face. The latter’s functional application will ultimately demonstrate the ac-curacy of the model. Brain-computer interfaces(BCI)based on steady-state visual evoked potentials(SSVEP)have attracted great interest because of their higher signal-to-noise ratio,less training,and faster information transfer.However,the existing signal recognition methods for SSVEP do not fully pay attention to the important role of signal phase characteristics in the recognition process.Therefore,an improved method based on extended Canonical Correlation Analysis(eCCA)is proposed.The phase parameters are added from the stimulus paradigm encoded by joint frequency phase modulation to the reference signal constructed from the training data of the subjects to achieve phase constraints on eCCA,thereby improving the recognition performance of the eCCA method for SSVEP signals,and transmit the collected signals to the robotic arm system to achieve control of the robotic arm.In order to verify the effectiveness and advantages of the proposed method,this paper evaluated the method using SSVEP signals from 35 subjects.The research shows that the proposed algorithm improves the average recognition rate of SSVEP signals to 82.76%,and the information transmission rate to 116.18 bits/min,which is superior to TRCA and traditional eCAA-based methods in terms of information transmission speed and accuracy,and has better stability. 展开更多

Half-wavelength AC transmission(HWACT)refers to transmission along lines with an electrical distance of half the power frequency wavelength.The voltage amplitude at the sending terminal is equal to that at the receiving terminal in steady-state.Furthermore,the voltage at the receiving terminal does not vary with load.However,the electrical distance has been extended in actual HWACT lines because of the impact of the equivalent power supply impedance,so the attractive characteristics no longer hold.As a result,reactive power compensation methods with constant power factor and constant voltage are needed and these are presented in this paper.The steady-state operational characteristics,the calculation methods of additional reactive power compensation and the admittance of a controllable shunt reactor are also given.The methods proposed in this paper are relatively simple to implement,and the calculations involved are straightforward,resulting in effective voltage stabilization.The results indicate that such compensation methods can increase the transmission capacity while maintaining a relatively low voltage along the line. 展开更多
