In order to understand the metabolic process, four cows suffering from clinical mastitis were selected for the pharmacokinetic study. The transdermal preparation was applied to the diseased part of breast. Then the plasma and milk samples were collected respectively at 0, 0.5, 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 24, and 36 h, The concentrations of baicalin and phillyrin in plasma and milk were determined by HPLC and the data of time-concentrations were analyzed by the pharmacokinetic software. The results showed that two ingredients in the plasma were not detectable, but they in the milk had linear relationship with the time. The peak concentration of baicalin [(2.84 ±0.15)μg mL^-1] appeared at (4.93 ± 0.35) h, AUC0.1OQ was (27.32 ± 7.91) mg L^-1 h^-1, and the mean retention time was (28.31 ±0.49) h. The peak concentration of phillyrin [(0.49 ± 0.41) μg mL^-1] achieved at (3.68 ± 3.14) h, AUC0-LOQ was (4.10± 0.31) mg L^-1 h^-1, and the mean retention time was (14.52 ± 0.02) h. These suggested that two ingredients had slow absorbing speed and high absorbing degree. They could not be eliminated in a short time, thus exerted the topical curative effect.展开更多

Study selection: Only randomized controlled trials(RCTs) for the prevention or treatment of any one of gastrointestinal side effects, namely nausea, vomiting, oral ulceration, diarrhea and constipation, of CHM with or without western medicine(WM) vs WM, placebo or no treatment were included. Data Extraction: Independent extraction of articles was first performed by four medical students using predefined data fields. Then, all data, including study quality indicators, was checked by two authors. Results: Eighty-six RCTs involving 7076 cancer patients were found and analyzed in this review. Because of the heterogeneity of study design and low overall methodological quality, only descriptive summaries were performed. Beneficial effects were found in some CHM interventions, regardless of being taken alone or taken with WM. Moreover, none of serious adverse effect was reported. However, same intervention had not been repeatedly investigated by different research teams. Conclusions: Implications of the analysis support the efficacy and safety of CHM for the management of gastrointestinal side effects. However, definite clinical recommendation for particular CHM intervention still cannot be made due to low methodological quality of included studies and lack of duplicated verification. Further large scale and high quality RCTs on the same CHM interventions are suggested.展开更多

The dosage of prednisone used was conventionally reduced in both groups but CHM herbal treatment was added to the treated group in the period of prednisone reduction. The effect of CHM was estimated by observing the recurrence rate of disease and side-effects of prednisone. Results: The recurrence rate of disease and the occurrence rate of side-effects of prednisone in the treated group were less than those in the control group significantly (P < 0.01).Conclusion: Additional CHM in the process of CS reduction in treating CS sensitive nephrotic syndrome could markedly abate the recurrence rate of disease and the side-effect of CS reduction.展开更多

文摘Liver fibrosis is a pathological condition characterized by replacement of normal liver tissue with scar tissue, and also the leading cause of liver-related death worldwide.During the treatment of liver fibrosis,in addition to antiviral therapy or removal of inducers, there remains a lack of specific and effective treatment strategies. For thousands of years,Chinese herbal medicines(CHMs)have been widely used to treat liver fibrosis in clinical setting.CHMs are effective for liver fibrosis, though its mechanisms of action are unclear. In recent years, many studies have attempted to determine the possible mechanisms of action of CHMs in treating liver fibrosis. There have been substantial improvements in the experimental investigation of CHMs which have greatly promoted the understanding of anti-liver fibrosis mechanisms. In this review, the role of CHMs in the treatment of liver fibrosis is described, based on studies over the past decade, which has addressed the various mechanisms and signaling pathways that mediate therapeutic efficacy.Among them, inhibition of stellate cell activation is identified as the most common mechanism. This article provides insights into the research direction of CHMs,in order to expand its clinical application range and improve its effectiveness.

文摘[Objectives] This study was conducted to determine in-vitro antibacterial effect of 58 Chinese herbs on Staphylococcus aureus, and screen single Chinese herbs with better in-vitro antibacterial effect for formulation of prescription. [Methods]Effective components in Chinese herbs were extracted with water, and inhibition zone diameters and minimal inhibitory concentrations of the 58 Chinese herbs against S. aureus were determined by agar plate punching method and micro two-fold method, respectively. [Results] Twenty two kinds of Chinese herbs including Terminalia chebula Retz.,Anemarrhena asphodeloides Bunge.,Prunella vulgaris L,Rheum palmatum L. and Mosla chinensis Maxim. had better antibacterial effect, among which T. chebula Retz.,A. asphodeloides Bunge.,P. vulgaris L,R. palmatum L. and C. sappan Linn showed the best antibacterial effect, with average inhibition zone over 20 mm and MIC lower than 15. 6 mg/ml.[Conclusions]Traditional Chinese herbs have certain antibacterial effect, and this study will provide important theoretical reference for clinical medication and development of prescription.

文摘Objective: To determine how safe and effective Chinese Herbal Medicine(CHM) is in alleviating the nausea, vomiting, oral ulceration, diarrhea and constipation for cancer patients with chemotherapy. Methods: Data sources: A systematic review of Chinese and English articles using Ovid SP, CNKI, VIP Database and Traditional Chinese Medicine Database System. Further large scale and high quality RCTs on the same CHM interventions are suggested.
文摘Objective: To evaluate the effect of Chinese herbal medicine (CHM) in the process of corticosterone (CS) reduction in nephrotic syndrome. Methods: One hundred and twenty patients of indiopathic nephrotic syndrome sensitive to prednisone treatment were divided into two groups randomly. The dosage of prednisone used was conventionally reduced in both groups but CHM herbal treatment was added to the treated group in the period of prednisone reduction. The effect of CHM was estimated by observing the recurrence rate of disease and side-effects of prednisone. Results: The recurrence rate of disease and the occurrence rate of side-effects of prednisone in the treated group were less than those in the control group significantly (P < 0.01).Conclusion: Additional CHM in the process of CS reduction in treating CS sensitive nephrotic syndrome could markedly abate the recurrence rate of disease and the side-effect of CS reduction.
