For analyzing the effects of forest litter and slope aspect on soil properties eight soil samples were collected at a depth of 0–10 cm near(i.e.,beneath the crown)and away from(i.e.,not influenced by crown)five Persian turpentine trees each on a north and a south slope at the same elevation in a Zagros forest,Iran.The litter beneath tree crowns and slope exposure were found to have significant interactive effects on C,N,P,K,and electrical conductivity of the soils,however,Ca,Mg and the soil pH were not significantly influenced by these factors.The soil beneath the crowns was enriched in cations compared to more distal positions.Generally,Persian turpentine trees have positive impacts on soil properties in the forest.Degrading or killing these trees by sap extraction,extreme grazing,cutting,fire and expansion of agriculture will lead to significant losses in soil fertility and increases in soil erosion. 展开更多

The preparation of bioactive derivatives from the renewable natural product pinene is a hot research topic in the deep processing and utilization of pinene.In this study,β-pinene was used to develop novel molecules as a promising new precursor of insecticide.A series of amide-containing derivatives ofβ-pinene were synthesized and characterized.The insecticidal activities of these derivatives against Mythimna separate and Semiaphis heraclei were tested.The structure characterization results showed that the characterization data of amide-containing derivatives were in full agreement with their proposed structures.The insecticidal activities evaluation results indicated that amide-containing derivatives exhibited weak insecticidal activity against Mythimna separate,but exhibited moderate to good insecticidal activity against Semiaphis heraclei.After testing for 72 h,the corrected mortality against Semiaphis heraclei of compounds 5c,5e,5f,5 h,5j,and 5 m was 100%at 1000 mg/L.The structure-activity relationship analysis results showed that the introduction of an amide group into the structure of derivatives improved their insecticidal activity against Semiaphis heraclei.Meanwhile,the amide-containing derivatives containing the F and NO_(2) substituted benzene ring might improve their insecticidal activity against Semiaphis heraclei.This study will be helpful for the high value-added utilization of the natural renewable resourceβ-pinene and the development of novel insecticides. 展开更多

Objective:To evaluate the antiarthritic activity of Ajuga bracteosa using albino rats.Methods: The antiarthritic activity of 70%ethanolic extract of Ajuga bracteosa(EEAB) was evaluated against turpentine oil- and formaldehyde- induced acute non immunological and complete freund's adjuvant(CFA)-induced chronic immunological arthritis in albino rats.Results:EEAB showed a significant(P<0.05) and dose dependent inhibitory effect against acute and chronic models of arthritis.EEAB exhibited better antiarthritic activity than the standard aspirin.Conclusions: EEAB exhibits a significant and promising antiarthritic activity against acute and chronic arthritis and supports the traditional use of Ajuga bracteosa for rheumatism and other inflammatory diseases. 展开更多

The early growth of Pinus elliottii is rapid,so how to make Pinus elliottii generate economic benefit as quickly as possible is becoming increasing important.We conduct tapping test on man-made forest of perennial Pinus elliottii in Huashan forest farm,Huanjiang Maonan Autonomous County,Hechi City,Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.The results show that the economic benefit of early tapping of Pinus elliottii is obvious,with high profitability;NPV(16 089.13)and IRR(39.2%)of forest stand tapped are much higher than that of forest stand not tapped;at the same time,it can bring considerable demand for labor,with good social benefits;tapping has a certain effect on the growth of Pinus elliottii,and turpentine production is closely related to the trunk diameter. 展开更多

(1R,2R,3S,4R,7R)-7-Isopropyl-6-methylbicyclo[2.2.2]oct-5-ene-2,3-dicarboxylic acid anhydride(tetrahydro-4,7-ethanoisobenzofuran-1,3-dione derivative)adduct 2 was prepared via the isomerization ofα-pinene andβ-pinene in turpentine followed by the Diels-Alder cycloaddition with maleic anhydride in the presence of phosphoric acid/iodine catalysis.The molecular structure of adduct 2 was characterized by IR,1H NMR,13C NMR,1H-1H COSY,DEPT,HSQC,HMBC,2D NOESY and MS spectra.The single crystal X-ray crystallographic analysis of adduct 2 was performed,and the X-ray powder diffractive spectrum of the sample adduct 2 is consistent with the diffractive spectrum calculated from the single crystal data.Therefore the structure and stereochemistry of adduct 2 was established based on extensive spectral data and single crystal X-ray analysis. 展开更多
