During aircraft,ship,and automobile manufacturing,lap structures are frequently produced among Al alloy skins,wall panels,and stiffeners.The occurrence of welding defects severely decreases mechanical properties during friction stir lap welding(FSLW).This study focuses on investigating the effects of rotation rate,multipass welding,and cooling methods on lap defect formation,microstructural evolution,and mechanical properties.Hook defects were eliminated by decreasing welding speed,applying two-pass FLSW with a small welding tool,and introducing additional water cooling,thus leading to a remarkable increase in effective sheet thickness and lap width.This above strategy yielded defect-free joints with an ultrafine-grained microstructure and increased tensile shear force from 298 to 551 N/mm.The fracture behavior of FSLW joints was systematically studied,and a fracture factor of lap joints was proposed to predict their fracture mode.By reducing the rotation rate,using two-pass welding,and employing additional water cooling strategies,an enlarged,strengthened,and defect-free lap zone with refined ultrafine grains was achieved with a quality comparable to that of lap welds based on 7xxx Al alloys.Importantly,this study provides a valuable FSLW method for eliminating hook defects and improving joint performance. 展开更多

A series of experiments was performed to investigate the weldability of steel used in an aged bridge.A steel material used in an aged railway bridge constructed in 1912 was extracted for this investigation.The chemical compositions of this steel were suitable for welding.However,the aged steel contained much sulfur.Cruciform welded joints were fabricated with this aged steel.Welding defects or cracks were not observed in the joints.The Vickers hardness test on the welded part did not confirm extreme hardening or softening.After yielding by the static tensile test,the cruciform joints were fractured at the welded parts.One of the specimens was fractured in the middle of the thickness of the aged steel.The Sulfur contained in the aged steel might cause this type of fracture.The results show that there may be a risk of brittle fracture not only from the welded part but also from the base metal.The chemical compositions of aged steel must be analyzed when repair welding is applied to the steel. 展开更多

Striving for cleaner production is a sought-after manufacturing philosophy.Friction stir welding(FSW)is a joiningtechnique with par excellence and far less invasive to the environment than even best conventional welding processes.It is energyefficient and free from consumables,affluent and radiations.It is,thus,accepted as a clean welding process that can produceacceptable quality joints.It suffers from some major challenges of defects of its own kind that subject the process open toimprovements so as to prove itself a reliable production process.This study presents a holistic characterization of defects commonlyfound in FSW joints.The finding of the present study reveals that most defects are caused by inadequate heat generation,impropermaterial movement around the pin and inadequate material consolidation behind the pin.The amount of heat generation andmaterial stirring depends on several FSW parameters which may lead to the defect formation,if not selected properly.The resultsreported in this work are derived from sound literature support and experimentation.Prescriptions are made in the form ofcharacteristics of defects such as likelihood of their location,main responsible parameters along with the recommendations forminimizing them. 展开更多

In the present study, we simulated the reel-lay installation process of deepwater steel catenary risers(SCRs) using the finite element method and proposed multiaxial fatigue analysis for reeled SCRs. The reel-lay method is one of the most efficient and economical pipeline installation methods. However, material properties of reeled risers may change, especially in the weld zone, which can affect the fatigue performance. Applying finite element analysis(FEA), we simulated an installation load history through the reel, aligner, and straightener and analyzed the property variations. The impact of weld defects during the installation process, lack of penetration and lack of fusion, was also discussed. Based on the FEA results, we used the Brown-Miller criterion combined with the critical plane approach to predict the fatigue life of reeled and non-reeled models. The results indicated that a weld defect has a significant influence on the material properties of a riser, and the reel-lay method can significantly reduce the fatigue life of SCRs. The analysis conclusion can help designers understand the mechanical performance of welds during reel-lay installation. 展开更多

Currently, the welding defects recognition of X-ray nondestructive inspection is principally carried out by manual work, which highly depends on the experience of the inspectors and costs plenty of workload. In this paper, an intelligent image processing and recognition method for the tube welding radiographic testing in large-scale pressure vessels is proposed. Firstly, the raw image is preprocessed by median filtering, pseudo point removing and non-lincar image enhancement. Secondly, the welded joints parts are separated from the whole image by edge detection and threshold segmentation algorithms. Then, the separated images are handled by FFT transformation. Finally, whether defects exist and the specific type of defects are judged by Support Vector Machine. Software developed basing on this method works stably on site, and experiments demonstrate that the recognition results are compliance with the JB/T 4730. 2 or ASME standards. 展开更多

Results show that the welding speed range for achieving a groove-free joint is enlarged with increasing the rotating speed. The tunnel size decreases with decreasing the welding speed under the same rotating speed. Excessive or insufficient shoulder plunge depth will cause defective joints. At a relatively low rotating speed and high welding speed, the tool having a larger shoulder diameter has a larger range of processing parameters to obtain a groove-free joint. The role of oxides in the formation of hole defects in friction stir welded joint of 2519-T87 aluminum alloy has been investigated by using optical microscope, scanning electron microscope, electron backscatter diffraction and electron probe microanalyzer to examine the distribution of oxides and the features of hole defects, and using ABAQUS 3D thermo-mechanical coupling finite element model based on arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian method to simulate the material flow behavior. Oxides exist at the edge of tunnel hole and in the micropores in the joint. Based on distribution of oxygen and material flow behavior, it is believed that the oxides on the surface of the alloy tend to flow down into the bulk along the flow direction of plastic material during friction stir welding, aggregate in the weak region of material flow at the intersection of the shoulder affected zone and the stir pin-tip affected zone, and consequently prevent the material from contacting and diffusing. Due to the insufficient material flow and therefore the small plastic deformation,the pressure is not high enough to compress the accumulated oxides, resulting in hole defects. 展开更多

为实现正交异性钢桥面板机器人智能化焊接过程中缺陷的在线监测,提出了一种基于快速傅里叶变换和支持向量机的气孔缺陷声发射识别方法.通过开展机器人焊接实验,揭示了钢桥面板焊接及缺陷产生过程的声发射特征.无损伤与气孔缺陷2种工况... 为实现正交异性钢桥面板机器人智能化焊接过程中缺陷的在线监测,提出了一种基于快速傅里叶变换和支持向量机的气孔缺陷声发射识别方法.通过开展机器人焊接实验,揭示了钢桥面板焊接及缺陷产生过程的声发射特征.无损伤与气孔缺陷2种工况信号的幅值、振铃计数、峰值频率和中心频率等参数重叠交叉严重、相关性不显著,而气孔缺陷信号的傅里叶频谱存在更多高频能量分布,因此以频谱为输入建立2种工况的径向基核支持向量机模型.实验结果表明,与朴素贝叶斯、随机森林和线性核支持向量机模型相比,径向基核支持向量机模型拥有更高的正确率(95.4%)和召回率(94.3%),能够用于焊接过程气孔缺陷的在线识别,具有较强的鲁棒性和实用性. 展开更多

针对现有的地铁列车车体焊接质量检测技术存在检测模型较大、检测精度和效率较低的问题,提出一种基于改进YOLOv8的焊缝缺陷轻量化检测方法。首先,利用相控阵超声波检测仪采集对接焊缝内部缺陷图像,通过图像预处理制作成焊缝缺陷数据集... 针对现有的地铁列车车体焊接质量检测技术存在检测模型较大、检测精度和效率较低的问题,提出一种基于改进YOLOv8的焊缝缺陷轻量化检测方法。首先,利用相控阵超声波检测仪采集对接焊缝内部缺陷图像,通过图像预处理制作成焊缝缺陷数据集。然后,在YOLOv8模型基础上,利用Inner-SIoU优化原有损失函数、采用C2f-PConv替换C2f模块、引入大型可分离核注意力(LSKA)模块和挤压激励(SE)注意力机制,建立了基于改进YOLOv8的地铁列车车体焊缝缺陷质量检测模型,以提高焊缝缺陷特征提取和多尺度特征融合的能力。最后,利用改进的YOLOv8模型对焊缝缺陷数据集进行训练和测试。结果表明,改进的YOLOv8模型大小为7.91 M,对于焊缝缺陷的检测精度达到98.30%,检测速度达到138.9帧/s,与YOLOv8原始模型相比,模型更小,检测精度更高。 展开更多

为实现工业设备中焊缝结构内部缺陷准确地定量分析,针对构造缺陷三维重构模型时缺陷图谱的过分割和欠分割导致定量分析不够精确的问题,提出了一种基于图谱颜色分割的新算法。利用该算法处理缺陷切片并进行三维重构获取其长度,应用Canny... 为实现工业设备中焊缝结构内部缺陷准确地定量分析,针对构造缺陷三维重构模型时缺陷图谱的过分割和欠分割导致定量分析不够精确的问题,提出了一种基于图谱颜色分割的新算法。利用该算法处理缺陷切片并进行三维重构获取其长度,应用Canny算子与三次样条插值法结合获取缺陷亚像素边缘,基于缺陷区域连通标记算法和累加法可获取缺陷面积和体积的方法。研究结果表明:与实际数据对比,未焊透、未熔合、夹渣缺陷重构的长度误差分别为8.18%、5%、9.62%,基于此对分割缺陷的亚像素边缘内连通域进行标记以准确地获取其面积及体积。该方法能够在不破坏焊缝结构的情况下即时获取焊缝内部缺陷的形貌并对其进行精准且全面的定量分析。 展开更多

基于深度学习模型的油气管道焊缝缺陷智能识别

焊接技术在油气管道连接时广泛应用,确保焊缝区域可靠是保障油气管道安全运行的关键。受工艺和技术制约,油气管道焊接过程中可能出现不同类型的焊缝缺陷。针对油气管道焊缝部分缺陷尺寸小、缺陷与背景差异性较小导致焊缝缺陷识别效果不... 焊接技术在油气管道连接时广泛应用,确保焊缝区域可靠是保障油气管道安全运行的关键。受工艺和技术制约,油气管道焊接过程中可能出现不同类型的焊缝缺陷。针对油气管道焊缝部分缺陷尺寸小、缺陷与背景差异性较小导致焊缝缺陷识别效果不理想、人工识别工作量大等问题,提出了基于SCT-ResNet50模型的管道焊缝缺陷智能识别新方法。首先将焊缝区域图像输入特征提取网络;然后在特征提取的浅层使用SCC(Spatial Channel Context)进行局部空间和通道信息融合,在特征提取较深的层次使用ECA-MHSA(Efficient Channel Attention-Multi-Head Self-Attention)来捕捉长程依赖和上下文信息;最后通过全连接层和Softmax得到最终的缺陷识别结果。研究结果表明:(1)该新方法在油气管道X射线图像焊缝缺陷数据集上缺陷识别准确率达到98.28%;(2)相较于ResNet50、VGG16、DenseNet121、MobileNetv3和EfficientNetv2分类方法,其准确率分别提高了3.05%、46.05%、28.99%、15.95%和18.84%;(3)在缺陷尺寸小、缺陷和背景差异较小的场景下,该新方法在油气管道焊缝缺陷识别中具有更高的准确率。结论认为,该新方法的优势在于结合SCC模块与ECA-MHSA模块学习图像的局部信息和全局信息,能较好解决油气管道焊缝缺陷分类效果不理想的问题,为保障油气管道安全运输提供了技术支撑。 展开更多

由于X射线焊缝图像的复杂多样性,使得很多传统基于X射线焊缝缺陷检测方法的准确性不高,泛化能力较差。提出一种基于空洞分层注意力胶囊网络(DHACNet)的X射线焊缝缺陷识别方法。DHACNet由卷积模块、空洞分层注意力和胶囊网络(CapsNet)组... 由于X射线焊缝图像的复杂多样性,使得很多传统基于X射线焊缝缺陷检测方法的准确性不高,泛化能力较差。提出一种基于空洞分层注意力胶囊网络(DHACNet)的X射线焊缝缺陷识别方法。DHACNet由卷积模块、空洞分层注意力和胶囊网络(CapsNet)组成。卷积模块用来提取图像的卷积特征,空洞分层注意力用来提取多尺度显著性特征,CapsNet利用胶囊层和动态路由算法替代卷积神经网络(CNN)中的池化操作和全连接操作。DHACNet具有强大多尺度特征提取能力,能够克服CNN只关注图像局部特征和池化操作导致图像部分信息丢失等不足。在构建的X射线焊缝缺陷图像集上进行识别试验,识别准确率为96%以上,与传统方法进行比较,结果表明,该方法有效可行,能够为X射线焊缝缺陷识别系统提供技术支持。 展开更多

为了实现航空锂电池极耳极板激光焊缝的高效准确检测,设计制作了带有层析成像功能的多通道多频涡流检测系统.采用该系统及5通道防干扰差分结构涡流传感器对极耳极板焊缝中的局部断焊、整体漏焊、焊缝变形内凹、微小缺陷等典型缺陷进行检... 为了实现航空锂电池极耳极板激光焊缝的高效准确检测,设计制作了带有层析成像功能的多通道多频涡流检测系统.采用该系统及5通道防干扰差分结构涡流传感器对极耳极板焊缝中的局部断焊、整体漏焊、焊缝变形内凹、微小缺陷等典型缺陷进行检测,并基于趋肤效应原理,采用层析成像技术对焊瘤缺陷进行扫查成像.结果表明,研发的带有层析成像功能的多通道多频涡流检测系统可有效检测出锂电池极耳极板焊缝中的多种典型缺陷,最小可检测1 mm的缺陷,层析成像技术可实现不同深度下缺陷的形貌观测.通过对大量检测结果的对比分析,总结了缺陷种类、位置及长度的判别方法,提出了一套缺陷判别流程与评定准则,为实现锂电池极耳极板焊缝检测的工程化奠定了良好的基础. 展开更多

某用户将IF钢板焊接成钢管用于制作家电冷凝管,在对焊管进行常规水压试验时,钢管表面局部出现点状缺陷的情况。使用金相显微镜、扫描电镜等手段,对点状缺陷进行化学成分分析及缺陷处微观组织、非金属夹杂物等检测,并对母材钢板进行力学... 某用户将IF钢板焊接成钢管用于制作家电冷凝管,在对焊管进行常规水压试验时,钢管表面局部出现点状缺陷的情况。使用金相显微镜、扫描电镜等手段,对点状缺陷进行化学成分分析及缺陷处微观组织、非金属夹杂物等检测,并对母材钢板进行力学性能及金相微观结构检测。结果表明,点状缺陷处有异常组织,异常组织含有Cr、Ni等合金元素,与基体化学成分不同。外来异物压入使焊管局部应力集中,水压试验时,从与基体结合薄弱的异物处产生打压漏点。为了避免此类表面缺陷的产生,应加强焊管整个生产过程、加工过程的质量监控,防止异物压入破坏基体的连续性,造成钢材质量下降。 展开更多
