Critics, so far, have pointed out the mystic, didactic, and philosophical asp...From time immemorial down to the present decade, poets, dramatists, and fictionists have portrayed nature in different ways in their works. Critics, so far, have pointed out the mystic, didactic, and philosophical aspects of Wordsworth's nature poetry. In the backdrop of global deforestation and environmental degradation, traditional approaches to the evaluation of Wordsworth's nature poetry have lost charms and appeals to both the readers and the environmentalists. So, new approaches to the judgment of his poetry are a demand of the day. Keeping this demand in view, this paper aims at delving deep into Wordsworth's selected nature poems from eco-scientific point of view. Eco-scientific approach, missing in the previous analysis of his poetry, may pave the way for opening up a new trend for the new generation of readers and critics.展开更多
In the age where capital becomes the most dominant, the most manipulating power, the current aesthetics has to face and solve the problems such as "capital versus aesthetics", "matter nature versus mind nature", ...In the age where capital becomes the most dominant, the most manipulating power, the current aesthetics has to face and solve the problems such as "capital versus aesthetics", "matter nature versus mind nature", "society versus culture" and has to answer the follow-up question--"How could people's freedom be possible in modem conditions?" The reflections and criticism on "capital modernity" by Marx, Weber and Simmel all directly pointed to the issues of people's value and the settlement of their spirit in the Age of Capital. Meanwhile, the salvation of the "aesthetic modernity" makes up the proper meaning of the solution in many thinkers' mind to the predicament of the age. In this sense, the reflections on the Zeitgeist in the Age of Capital is certainly included in the pursuit of aesthetic freedom in this age.展开更多
Based on the data about sedimentary facies and palaeogeography, this paper proves the existence of the Cathaysia (the part in eastern Zhejiang and northern Fujian, the same hereinafter) and makes a survey about its pa...Based on the data about sedimentary facies and palaeogeography, this paper proves the existence of the Cathaysia (the part in eastern Zhejiang and northern Fujian, the same hereinafter) and makes a survey about its palaeogeography since Sinian Period. It also discusses the evolution of the tectonic environment of this region during Phanerozoic Eon, according to the features such as the composition of sandstones derived from the old land and alkalinity of volcanic rocks and so on. Continuous uplifting was maintained in Cathaysia during Sinian Period and Paleozoic Era, typically with no significant tectono-magmatic activity being observed. Its northwestern margin belongs to the type of passive continental margin during the middle and late phase of Caledonian Cycle. It showed the characteristics of a steady continent in late Paleozoic era, but was turned quickly into an active continental margin after the middle Jurassic period.展开更多

The probability theory and linear algebra act as the powerful tool for analyzing and mining data. The experimental result illustrates the effectiveness. The cave-site of Gruta da Furninha is a coastal karstic cavity. In the late 19th century, excavation of the sedimentary infill of the cave allowed the identification of two lithostratigraphic units: a Holocene one do...The cave-site of Gruta da Furninha is a coastal karstic cavity. In the late 19th century, excavation of the sedimentary infill of the cave allowed the identification of two lithostratigraphic units: a Holocene one dominated by sands, containing human bones and a Neolithic industry; and a Late Pleistocene one, containing a diverse set of fossils set and Paleolithic artifacts. This study mainly focuses on taphonomic and palaeoenvironmental data concerning the Pleistocene bird bones that were collected from six layers (at 11 m and 6.7 m asl). A main result of this study was the discovery of a left humerus fragment, with osteological features of the Alcidae family; from comparison with upper arms of distinct species of this family, it was concluded that this fossil belongs to Penguin impennis. The Pleistocene birds of the Furninha cave were also compared with the avifauna that currently occurs in the region of Peniche peninsula and a climate and environmental interpretation of the Pleistocene fossiliferous set is provided.展开更多

Based on a novel velocity decomposition technique and stochastic anaJysis, a measurement-based distributed tracking control protocol is proposed, under which all agents can track the leader in mean square. Simulation results are also given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed protocol.展开更多
