It suggests that from 1978 to 1989, parW stars and semi-commercialized stars appeared in China's music industry; while commercialized stars blossomed from 1990 to 1999. From 2000 to 2012, the decline of party stars and commercialized stars contributed to the rise of talent show stars. This paper also argues that talent show stars first entered the music industry's star system as party stars and commercialized stars around 2005. Notably, it analyzes the power relationship that shapes the current star system and the meaning of stardom in Chinese popular culture. Party stars are largely a manifestation of state power that must occasionally negotiate with media power. Commercialized stars, as representatives of popular culture, primarily rely on media power but, to a certain degree, must also conform to state power. Talent show stars, however, after 2007 gradually stopped representing audience power alone and instead became results of negotiation and rehalancing of state power, media power, and audience power.展开更多

The authors analyze Trump's personality in several categories—uninhibited and capricious, dynamic and capable, profit-orientated and self-centered,competitive and persistent, positive and extraverted. The traits of breaking traditions, skill at strategic deception and negotiation, action-motivated implementation, intuitive decision-making, pursuit of respect and interest exchange, and vengefulness will shape his policy and behavioral orientations. Initial study shows Trump to be a political leader with positive personality traits and double-sided dimensions. The analysis offers insight toward understanding the new US executive and his policy direction.展开更多

The WEC-Model assesses the eco- nornic impact of an armed conflict in three different stages: (1) initial armed conflict and diplomatic negotiations; (2) military armed conflict; and (3) winners and losers in the post-armed conflict stage. The analysis makes use of new indicators such as economic desgrowth (-δ), armed conflict intensity (αi), armed conflict losses (-π), economic wear (Л), level of armed conflict tension (ζ), level of diplomatic nego- tiations (η), and total economic leaking (Ωt. To illustrate the model, we apply it to evaluate an imaginary armed conflict between the People's Republic of China and Japan.展开更多
