A force auxiliary ventilation system was adopted as a control method in successful extraction and recovery of the panel 30110 of the #3-1 coal seam, which is about 30-40 rn below the heating goaf of the #2-2 seam at Longhua underground coal mine, Shanxi Province, China. Booster fans and ventilation control devices such as doors and regulators were used in the system. The results show that, provided that a force auxiliary ventilation system is properly designed to achieve a pressure balance between a panel and its overlying goat', the system can be used to extract a coal seam overlain by a heating goal. This paper describes the design, installation and performance of the ventilation system during the extraction and recovery phases of the oanel 30110.展开更多

MAR (managed aquifer recharge) using infiltration pond was investigated and constructed. A recharge experiment at the pilot site at Ban Nong Na, Phitsanulok Province, was conducted during 2009 to 2011 to mitigate the declining shallow groundwater level. The HELP3 and MODFLOW models were applied to explore the current groundwater recharge. The MODFLOW was used to simulate the recharge mechanism of the experiment in the 1,260 m2 infiltration pond during July to November, 2010. The simulated results showed the groundwater influx and outflux for the year 2010 were 1.34 Mm3 1.57 Mm3, respectively. The annual shallow groundwater extraction was 1.40 Mm3 resulting in the groundwater system deficit of 0.23 Mm3 and causing groundwater level decline at the rate of 0.25 m/yr. The critical zone with groundwater level deeper than 8 m from the ground surface covers 19% of the study area of 4.12 km2 and it would be increased up to 85% within the next 10 years (2020). To achieve the groundwater system balance, the deficit amount of 0.23 Mm3 is needed and six infiltration ponds are required.展开更多

Most of the wall rock of the coal reservoir is mudstone and silt, which is a favourable enclosing terrane. Burial depth of the main excavating coat seam is moderate. The groundwater activity is thin, and there are absolute groundwater systems between each coal seam, which make poor intercon- nections to accelerate CBM enrichment. In our research, the area coal reservoir meta- morphosis is high, CBM content is high, hole-cranny system development degree is high, and permeability of the great mass of the main coal seam exceeds 0.1×10^-3 μm2, The result demonstrates that the southeast of the Gemudi syncline has the best conditions for prospecting and exploiting CBM.展开更多

The CAR area was uniformly partitioned into a 500 x 500 m grid generating a high resolution model that represented the natural boundaries of the aquifer. A computer model was calibrated and validated to verify output from the model corresponding to situations that matched the historical aquifer performance. Predicted groundwater levels were compared with measured data collected from nine observation wells between 1954 and 2004 to evaluate model performance. The main objective of this study was to develop and evaluate a groundwater modeling system using ModFlow-2000 for the CAR. Performance statistics indicated that the model performed well in simulating historic groundwater levels in the central part of the CAR where irrigated agriculture was concentrated. Results evaluation yielded average coefficients of determination of 0.81 and 0.67 and root mean square error values lower than 25.1 m and 25.9 m for the calibration and validation processes, respectively. These results are indicative of a good agreement between predicted and observed groundwater levels. However, further improvements in the conceptual model may be needed to improve predictions in other parts of the CAR for evaluating alternative groundwater management strategies.展开更多

It is the second network in China that is operated by enterprises with the purpose to observe and study earthquake precursors in reservoir areas. This paper presents the layout and technical constitution of the network, features of its observational wells and aquifers and the preliminary result of its experimental operation. Its capability to monitor seismic precursor is evaluated based on an analysis of the well-aquifer system as well as the multiple-monthly, monthly, daily and hourly variations of water levels and water temperatures observed by this network.展开更多

These springs and their resulting spring runs support a unique freshwater ecology dependent on perennial flows, constant temperature and chemistry, and high light transmissivity. Numerous observations indicate that Florida's springs flows are declining as a result of the increasing extraction of groundwater for human uses. North Florida's karst environment is especially susceptible to nitrogen pollution from agricultural and urban development. An empirical springs/aquifer water budget is needed to better understand these spring stressors. Discharge data from 393 of the state's 1,000+ artesian springs are used to estimate trends in total spring discharge by decade since 1930-39. This analysis indicates that average spring flows have declined by about 32%. Large groundwater pumping centers are altering spring flows over the whole springs region. Existing groundwater pumping rates from the Floridan Aquifer in 2010 were more than 30% of average annual aquifer recharge, and allocated groundwater use in north-central Florida is nearly double current estimated uses. Based on biological research conducted in Florida springs, these flow reductions are from two to six times greater than declines known to result in significant harm to aquatic resources.展开更多
