Contrary to the widely accepted perception that outso...This paper develops a conceptual model to assess effect of outsourcing by integrating the theories of industrial upgrading and global value chain (GVC) governance. Contrary to the widely accepted perception that outsourcing is expected to generate positive spillover in particular, the findings indicate that outsourcing has different effects in different GVC governance modes. Excess outsourcing could structurally inhibit technology and management spillovers to subcontractors within the emerging economy context. Based on a case study of the Chinese textile and apparel (T & A) industry, it is found that the Chinese T & A industry has been trapped in the captive governance relationship with foreign buyers, and at the same time is capped below the function upgrading level. Consequences of the situation and implication are then discussed.展开更多
A fog monitor, hotplate total precipitation sensor, weather identifier and visibility sensor, ultrasonic wind speed meter,an icing gradient observation frame, and an automated weather station were involved in the obse...A fog monitor, hotplate total precipitation sensor, weather identifier and visibility sensor, ultrasonic wind speed meter,an icing gradient observation frame, and an automated weather station were involved in the observations at the Lushan Meteorological Bureau of Jiangxi Province, China. In this study, for the icing process under a cold surge from 20–25 January2016, the duration, frequency, and spectrum distribution of agglomerate fog were analyzed. The effects of rain, snow, and supercooled fog on icing growth were studied and the icing and meteorological conditions at two heights(10 m and 1.5 m)were compared. There were 218 agglomerate fogs in this icing process, of which agglomerate fogs with durations less than and greater than 10 min accounted for 91.3% and 8.7%, respectively. The average time interval was 10.3 min. The fog droplet number concentration for sizes 2–15 μm and 30–50 μm increased during rainfall, and that for 2–27 μm decreased during snowfall. Icing grew rapidly(1.3 mm h-1) in the freezing rain phase but slowly(0.1 mm h-1) during the dry snow phase. Intensive supercooled fog, lower temperatures and increased wind speed all favored icing growth during dry snow(0.5 mm h-1). There were significant differences in the thickness, duration, density, and growth mechanism of icing at the heights of 10 m and 1.5 m. Differences in temperature and wind speed between the two heights were the main reasons for the differences in icing conditions, which indicated that icing was strongly affected by height.展开更多

To investigate the DNA sequence polymorphism of Chlamydia traehomatis ompl gene, urogenital samples were collected from 4 different cities in South China, DNA was extracted, and an approx- imately 980-bp-long fragment...To investigate the DNA sequence polymorphism of Chlamydia traehomatis ompl gene, urogenital samples were collected from 4 different cities in South China, DNA was extracted, and an approx- imately 980-bp-long fragment of the ompl gene was amplified by nested polymerase chain reaction （nPCR）. DNA sequence was determined, genotyping was performed by BLAST similarity search, and multiple alignment was performed with CLUSTAL X. Then a phylogenetie tree was constructed by Mega 3 software to illustrate the evolutionary relationships between clinical isolates and reference strains. Ninetysix specimens were sequenced, and 28 genetic variants were detected, among which E was the most prevalent genotype. The ompl gene was highly conserved for genotypes E and F, but appeared slightly less conserved for other genotypes, where the sequences displayed one to several nueleotide substitutions relative to the reference sequence. Phylogenetie tree showed that C. traehomatis serotypes were mainly divided into three clusters, according to previous grouping in the B, F-G, and C complexes, and the clinical isolates were highly related to the corresponding reference strains. It concluded that the ompl gene of the isolated C. traehomatis strains exhibited remarkable DNA sequence polymorphism, which can encourage for vaccine design and infection control.展开更多

The Qiang ethnic minority could be dated back to the Shang Dynasty （ca. 1600-1046BC）. The long-standing Qiang culture is an important part of those brilliant Chinese cultures. The Qiang’s traditional dress and adornment is an integral part of the Qiang culture, appreciating unique ethnic characteristics and cultural meanings. In order to get the typical body form and figure type of the middle age and aged people, it was focused on the body form data of this group (age 40 - 60). After calculation and analyzing, the distinguishing feature of body form and the distribution of figure type were deduced. Finally, the re-classification of body form for Chinese middle age and aged people was suggested. It as also suggested that a new garment size series especially for the middle age and aged should be built to fit for these people. This conclusion would be useful and significant to design and production for clothing company, especially that who take the aged people as their target consumer.展开更多
