The dynamic parameters of wetting, contact-angles and surface energy of the fiber before and alter the treatment were compared to see the changes in the wetting property. ESCA and electron spin resonance were utilized to examine the chemical composition and the attached free radicals of the fiber surface. The results, together with changes in the magnitude of the contact-angle and the number of free radicals with time after the plasma treatment do not show any ageing effect. Single filament test revealed that the tensile strength was not impaired but even improved somewhat after the plasma treatment. The experiment shows that the interlaminar shear strength of Kevlar fiber reinforced epoxy resin compo- site is increased for more than 60%% after the treatment.展开更多

A graphene sheet is examined as an example of such two-dimensional medium. The problem statement of a graphene sheet deforming in its plane and the bending problem are examined. It is ascertained that the statement of the first problem is equivalent to the flat problem statement of Toupin gradient theory. The statement of the bending problem is equivalent to the plate bending theory of Timoshenko with certain reserves. The characteristic feature of both statements is the fact that the mechanical properties of the sheet of graphene are not defined by “volumetric” moduli but by adhesive ones which have different physical dimension that coincides with the dimension of the corresponding stiffness of classical and nonclassical plates.展开更多

High-temperature (25-500℃) optical spectroscopy, which combines Raman and photoluminescence spectroscopies, is highly effective for investigating the interaction and material properties that are not accessible at the commonly used cryogenic temperature (e.g., a thermal activation process with an activation of a major fraction of the bandgap). This study investigates a set of monolayer WS2 films, either directly grown on sapphire and SiO2 substrates by CVD or transferred onto SiO2 substrate. The coupling with the substrate is shown to depend on the substrate type, the material- substrate bonding (even for the same substrate), and the excitation wavelength. The inherent difference in the states of strain between the as-grown and the transferred films has a significant impact on the material properties.展开更多

The problem of two-dimensional motion of biviscosity fluid privileged in a symmetric channel with ciliated walls is considered. The features of ciliary structures are resolute by the supremacy of viscous effects above inertial possessions by the long-wavelength and low Reynolds approximation. Closed-form solutions for the longitudinal pressure gradient, temperature and velocities are obtained. The pressure gradient and volume flow rate for different values of the biviscosity are also premeditated. The flow possessions for the biviscosity fluid resolute as a function of the cilia and metachronal wave velocity.展开更多
