As pillars of societal public life, fostering public spirit in college students is crucial. This article first clarifies the concept of public spirit and establishes a theoretical framework. It then examines the contemporary importance of nurturing public spirit among college students, addressing the challenges posed by a self-interest-driven mindset, a lack of awareness, insufficient participation, the need for improved competence, an absence of rationality, and the difficulty of avoiding bias. Finally, it suggests strategies for cultivating public spirit from the perspectives of society, universities, and the students themselves, aiming to inspire college students’ public spirit and contribute to social harmony and progress.展开更多
