The author argues for the feasibility of this application with the psychological theory of memory mechanism, the linguistic theory of lexical phrases and lexical patterns in discourse, supported by field practice. The aim is to direct pedagogical attention to lexical phrases as prefabricated chunks, their function, both discoursal and lexical, in text production and processing.展开更多
